rewatching this however many years later, it would be great if they re-did this ep with a sponsor by goldbelly to actually get the real-deal versions from the actual cities, rather than (obviously) ice-cold cali knockoffs of regional specialties. (detroit would def still win tho lmao.)
True especially if they got their hands on buddies pizza
I think most Pizza’s here were misrepresented as they were all Californian/LA approximations. I’m from the Detroit area and even I can tell you that’s not what a Chicago style pizza should look like. The same with the Italian pizza’s they usually use slices of mozzarella not shredded. However I say give them a brea to order all of the pizza here from their area and fly them in would have been a monumental task, they did the best they could with the resources they had and I love them.
I think it's ok, because you have to remember, if anything it's better to do it this way because no one is going to fly around the world to buy everything authentic. So if you want to do a taste test, it's better to do it in a manner that can be easily replicated by anyone. Plus, they are all technically different styles of pizza, even if they don't match directly with the originals.
I dont think they did the best they could. They have a in house chef, get 2 steel plates, a bit of research online, and he can make better versions of all of these. Would they be as good as pizzas from all the best restaurants out there? no, but at least they'd be closer to the real deal and fresher.
David Jacobson at least the New York pizza looked New Yorky
Would have been more controlled if Josh made all the pizzas then you could make sure sauce recipes didn't sway it.
Can we just have fun

It is a honor that you put my home towns pizza all the way down, st Louis style pizza(imos) is as many of my family call it cardboard with burnt Styrofoam on top, it's disgusting. Lets be honest, all us New Yorkers watching this knew the outcome before it started
I thoroughly disagree with you that you’re the best, but I would’ve accepted (being from Chicago) that deep dish loses to you, you have good pizza, but we do too, Detroit beating us is heresy
@@Um_im_ryan That detroit pizza looked pretty good. I prefer the crunchy style.
@@nav8475 it doesn’t even compare to deep dish though, link said it himself, it was like heaven (or something like that)
@@Um_im_ryan Either way king of pizza is NY
@@nav8475 I still disagree but that’s an acceptable stance
Yesss! I’m from NY and we don’t play when it comes to pizza 🍕😂. Whenever we get pizza, we get xtra cheese. It depends which pizzeria you go to, 95% of the time the bread can handle the xtra cheese. Some pizzerias by me Sicilianis the same as a grandma slice. Other pizza places have both grandma & Sicilian. Also, not every pizza place’s Margarita pizza is the same. I agree it has something to do with the water. One day I’d like to go to Chicago & try their deep dish 😊. If you the pizza from a “NY” pizzeria, there’s a 98% chance they import the water to their store and you guys are eating legit NY pizza 😊.
