@Skuzzbrush Bulkhead Comedic timing is the time a comedian takes between the set up and the punch line to allow the audience to concieve an image or thought in their minds that makes the joke funny. It can also mean the pause between a joke and the reaction or response. I see this in other languages too without understanding what they are saying by watching the pauses between the joke and the reaction.
Explaining comedy is like explaining music, but maybe this helped.

I know you play the a-hole but you actually seem like a really genuinely appreciative, humble guy who values other people's talent, not just your own. And 2) why the hell is that plant behind you to our left so damn aggressive. I feel like if it could talk it would be spitting swear-words right & left.

I came here today after beginning probably my 15th binge run of Just Shoot Me!, looking for the reunion the cast guys did not long ago, and found this...and I'm in tears all over again. Such a wonderful collection of memories, David. I still remember watching the show when it first aired all those years ago, and it still never fails to make me laugh and cheer and feel the heartbreaks of all the characters. One of my favorite pieces by George being his "speech" about how penguins used to fly, and it both makes me laugh and cry.
I will miss him so, but I will forever be grateful for all the wonderful creations he gave us. Thank you for sharing a little piece of your thoughts on him. You are indeed correct when you say he is missed the world over. I was a teenager in Australia when JSE! was on, and much to my mum's groans of protest at the time, she grew to love it almost as much as I. We both will miss him dearly.

We just could tell what a gracious, socially conscious, compassionate, obviously talented (in how many different categories?!?), full of life, fun-loving, intelligent, just good, decent and loving person he was... just imagine if we KNEW him? Like you knew him, DS?! Thank you for sharing more about him with us. So terribly sorry for your loss. For some reason, I feel it extra deeply (though I can't say exactly why). I may have wished he was my pop, too.

George Segal He truly was a great actor. As a young boy, I was a fan of WWII movies, and he starred in some of my favorites, The Longest Day, and Bridge at Remagen. I seen him a lot in made for TV movies, and sitcoms. It's hard when actors you recognize and are a fan of die. In many aspects it becomes an end of an era every time it happens.

Just Shoot Me... one of my favorite shows of all time. And I'm old enough that I watched every episode during it's original airing.

RIP, George Segal. I always had a warm feeling about George, knowing he grew up in my home town, Great Neck, albeit 20 years before me. He had that sensibility, that 'hamishe' background. Loved the entire JSM show - saw every episode. Loved having Segal and Spade on the same show. My personal favorite of George was Where's Poppa? - that just is black comedy to the max. So of its time. I also loved his appearances on Carson's Tonight Show - his appearances were always fun, plus he played music. I hope his personal life was as fun as his roles appeared to be, but you never know.

You guys had a great rapport on the show. Your best sitcom role, as well as his.
