- Years ago I did a video for collectors to share my collection of the Dreamcast Library. Now this is uploaded to RUclips to share collection highlights of the Dreamcast with others. May this video help fans of the system determine what to play and collect. If you are a fan of Sega, then please check out many other of my RUclips videos showcasing my extensive Sega Collections, as well as many other systems I
I was 13 when the dreamcast launched......gave me such a awesome few years of being a teenager.....will always be my favorite!! I have about 80+ dc games now I can sit and just look at the cases for hours and remember how awesome life was as a gamer!!
Sega and Capcom were really at the top of their game with this system, one of my favorite systems.
One of the most underrated video game consoles of all time.
I think the Dreamcast is my favorite system of all time. Soulcalibur may just be my favorite game of all time too!
agree
Looks like a great time. Those Imagic posters looked amazing as did that set of custom paddles. Thanks for the video, John.
Glad to see you showcasing Blue Stinger. It's very underrated, in my opinion; I got it, along with The House of the Dead 2, and Sonic Adventure for my birthday in 1999. Another underrated set of games were Time Stalkers and both Evolution dungeon crawlers.
Great video! I still love my Dreamcast and it's probably my favorite system. So ahead of its time. Shenmue was my favorite game. I even bought the import copy and boot disc just for that game. Hours and hours of fun. So excited about the sequel coming out this fall (9/19). Keep up the great work!
I LOVE the Sega Dreamcast...Outstanding system with even better gameplay...Soul Calibur, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing (both Round 1 and 2), Hydro Thunder, Crazy Taxi, Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2, Virtua Tennis, the 2K Sega Sports games!!!! Still fun to this day!!
No Dynamite Cop? Dude that game is amazing!!! Great co op gameplay. Another game that I feel gets overlooked is Illbleed. Good take on survival horror. Fantastic video though man, keep it up, love this overview series your doing
Yeah, I could have shown some more. I had to cut a few
So glad you showed Project Justice and Grandia II, I love those games.
omg yes! Dreamcast is one of my favorite systems! Feel free to post Dreamcast videos anytime! I still need more dreamcast games to finish my collection, but one day I will.
Great video! Glad knowledgeable youtubers like yourself show the system love.
i can't believe you mentioned omikron! i watched some guys play that game recently on a lets play youtube channel and it was hilarious! by the way i think you mentioned every single good dreamcast game i could think of except for puzzle bobble/bust-a-move, that version was so awesome on dreamcast, just like the arcade. i also am not big on sports games but i loved the dreamcast 2K stuff. awesome video dude.
So cool I didn't now about the Fatal Fury game or the Limited Shenmue edition. Thank you for sharing your dreams.
Awesome overview of the games. Just finished my complete set!
Makes me want to start collecting for the dreamcast! Great stuff!
I love my DC, I had to sell off some of my games in college. I'm trying to find them again, so hard to find and so expensive. Shout out to Shenmue, AMAZING game!!
Awesome stuff...
Jet Grind Radio I spend weeks playing that good times...
This is such a cool video!!! I learnt more about the Sega Dreamcast watching this video :D
Great video, I'd recommend to add Shenmue II to your collection if you haven't already, I know it's only released in Europe and Japan for the Dreamcast but it's a fantastic game and even better than the prequel ...
Love your videos, John! Please use this catchphrase at the end of your shows: "This is John Hancock signing off!" Keep up the good work.
Damn this is a stacked collection.
Alot of fun games to play there
I gotta go through this systems games and play this stuff!! looks great
I used to love to play Blue Stinger lol, Bangai O's so good, glad I got it in the bargain bin around the time it came out.
Capcom vs SNK Pro is so awsome to play, best looking stages imo. I remember also playing Record of Lodos War too.
Super RunAbout was a fun sandbox racing/driving game. I recommend it.
Cant wait to get my dreamcast
Rush 2049 and Hydro Thunder are pretty fun. I always remember the arcade machine of Rush 2049 the huge jumps made you feel you were flying.
I'm jelly of your copy of Project Justice! Also I LOVE Blue Stinger, too bad, so good. illbleed is awesome too but couldnt get as far in that one.
SEGA did release a great gun in Europe. It supports the rumble pak which is great for some feedback when you shoot.
Just an FYI for those that don't know, the US version of House of The Dead doesn't work with the PAL or JAP light gun I believe. Please correct me if I'm wrong though!
Nice, I would love to play Shenmue again. Would love you to add footage to these videos.
I loved Soul Reaver. Soul Reaver 2 on PS2 was really good as well. I wish they were still making those games.
Awesome video! I'm going to pick up Lodoss and Omikron.
The saturn twin sticks work GREAT with virtual on, highly recommend. I loved Virtual On when it first came out as well in the arcade and on the dreamcast with the controller. It is possible to have fun with the game a lot with just the controller, but once you get the twin sticks it will really feel like a true arcade experience... *need to break out my twin sticks again but the box is piled up on my shelf....errrr lol...the Saturn twin stick box looks so awesome*. Haven't tried the original dreamcast twin stick with it, don't see too much point since the saturn one is cheaper even with the $30 adapter, looks cooler as twin sticks, the box is 100% cooler, and it works with the Sega Saturn too.
I LOVED!!!! Gundam Side Story 0079 as a kid. And when i first got it i was disappointed since Gundam Wing was on TV and this game you weren't piloting any of those more powerful Gundams. But this game turned out to be very awesome and the Gundams you fight against and the white one you eventually get to pilot is awesome. The controls are a little clunky to play now, but its still fun. I tried playing this game with my Panther flight stick and the saturn twin sticks. Both i was able to slighty kinda use but the game is best controlled with the regular controller. Fun game highly recommend. Weird its going for $30+ now. A year or two ago it was super cheap. Word must be getting around its a fun game. Actually got my friends to play the game a lot too. Its my favorite mech game to play.
Awesome video. Really enjoyed it. I would like to see u make a ps1 and 2 overview. I'm a big Sony collecter
Sony is next after Sega
project justice(rival school 2) is my favorite fighting game.
Amazing how much some of these games are going for lately. I have Marvel vs Capcom 2, the original Powerstone, and Skies of Arcadia and they really seem to be collectors items now. I don't think I paid more than 10 dollars for any of these.
I know i'm in the minority here, but Aerowings brought me to the Dreamcast. Seriously underrated and still nothing like it today. Flight simulation like that on a console was a big accomplishment in my opinion (especially in 1999!). Really wish something like it would pop up on current gen :-(
I only own 5 Dreamcast games at the moment but one I enjoy playing the most is Penpen Triicelon.
Nice overview. Btw I like Blue Stinger so much lol. But I know some people hate it.
i found a bunch of SEGA DREAMCST demos at a thrift shop. They have numerous games on them like Sonic Adventure and sega artwork. Do you remember these? Do you collect them? And, could you talk about old demos in a video. I even found AOL discs with game demos like tiger woods golf to entice people into trying AOL.
Toy Commander on the Dreamcast is my favorite game of all time.
Great video Sir!
Man I miss my SEGA Dreamcast.
referral madness That's what I'm planning once I find another job.
I actually love blue stinger has melee combat
It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't such a grind.
Everybody knows about the awesome Capcom fighters for the Dreamcast (as they should, they put out some excellent games that make the Dreamcast my console of choice for fighters even over the amazing Saturn) but a lot of people I meet seem unaware SNK had some great fighters on there too.
Garou (while pricey) is SNK's equivalent to SF3 and it might be a superior game. Then you have the more affordable KoF 98 and 99, both great fighters with solid graphics and great soundtracks.
Glad to see Sword of the Berserk. Anime just came out a couple days ago.
I totally recommend it
I was hoping that D2 would be in there.
At first I was like sonic adventure and was thinking, that's hard to get??? Then I saw that limited edition :0
i LOVE crazy taxi!!!!!!
YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH
YEAAAAAAAH
(Guitar riff)
Headhunter was a top 10 DC game for me but it didn't release in the US. RE : Code Veronica was another
The Immortal. There can only be one.
Such an underrated, forgotten console. It's really a shame when you think about it
Also... 4.99 price tag on the game in its original case with manual, not loose? What store was that? At that price someone could complete their entire North American Dreamcast Set without breaking the bank 👌
Not to mention, 2.00 for ChuChu Rocket? Never even wanted that game, but at two dollars for that (again still with case/manual) is phenomenal.
And from what I remember they took jumping out of Virtual Fighter... a game famous for its giant moon gravity jumps... and they took out jumping? Shame on Sega. My favorite console and video game company of all time, but for things like that? They deserved a lot of fallout/backlash for things that, unfortunately they probably never even noticed if there was any because they had bigger problems to worry about with their company going under.
I got the sonic limited edition manual no sticker on disk across the street from my house at liberty thrift, also sonic adventure 2 and shuffle lol, paid 3 bux for all
I likest are Street Fighter III Double Impact , Fatal Fury Mark of The Wolves , Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2 , Street Fighter Alpha 3, Capcom vs SNK 1 and 2, Powerstone 1 and 2 Shenmue . Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Huh, I never knew there was a Typing of Dead game, that's actually pretty damn cool. I used to love playing Mario Teaches Typing back in elementary school! I assume it is of a similar vein?
Great Vid, I completed my NTSC set last year. Still have my 9.9.99 console kicking.
Test Drive Lamans is a Great Sim I'd put over Sega GT, maybe you havent played it yet?
Yeah this video was done years ago. I completed my set years ago and Sega GT is is more well known
There are definitely official dreamcast light guns. They were just never released in the us.
Thank u tobu bro
Love coming back and watching this as I work on completing my DC collection! Thanks for the inspiration John, check me out when you get some time. You keep me going!
Hey John, what do you think will happen once disc rot becomes a common thing, obviously the value will drop but do you think the really expensive games will still hold a good amount of value, for example Snatcher or Keio Flying Squadron.
Impossible to predict
John Hancock ok how about this how much are you willing to pay for a non working Snatcher but the case art and manual are in good condition
I have a sealed copy :)
John Hancock yes I know, but if you didn't own it, how much would you pay for a non working Snatcher
+DjClayface I wouldn't pay for a non working copy. Too hard to track other pieces down. Sorry, can't be a price guide to folks
My dreamcast has the please insert disc error where I already have a disc in there any advice on how to easily fix it
Unfortunately, Omikron is no longer pretty cheap. It is usually in the 40-50 dollar range for a complete copy.

I think the rarest game is ntsc urban chaos. Compare the available copies on eBay to the amount of any other rare title....
The Sonic Adventure manual, is that legit? I’m currently looking around for one and came across one, owner says game is real but manual is repro.
i really liked zombies revenge idk if u ever got to play it but if not check it out john
Yeah that game rocked
+John Hancock I found a great copy of Sega Smash Pack still sealed paid 1.00 for it... Good find or waste of time ? Ty in advance !!
Ooga Booga is a good game, did you try it?
I don't get why Blue Stinger gets so much hate. Zombie Revenge gets treated as a master piece at the same time too. I must have very unpopular taste.
Hi John, I thought only crazy taxi 2 had a black label artwork...my crazy taxi 1 label is white.... any idea why?
Great question, thats because John had the All-Stars version shown. If the end wasnt hidden behind the game next to it you'd see the orange lable next to it. All stars version(greatest hits) were obviously printed later during the black lable change. Sonic and powerstone etc does the same thing.
ah you're right!!! my bad...I don't have any all star games..I prefer the regular label.
+Jean Francois Bouchard yeah me too, when i completed my ntsc set my buddy said "you going for all the all stars now?" im like...nope.
Lol same for me
Sega all stars crazy taxi has black artwork.
Didn't know America didn't get the sega gun.
Two guns were made, just released by third parties
But we did get the maracas! :D
+John Hancock yeah just surprised the official one only released in japan and pal regions but then I guess sega was wary of political sensitivity maybe in USA at that time. Loved house of dead with the gun
you can thank Columbine for that, happened the same year as the Dreamcasts release
Soul Calibur is the killer app! :)
Forgot Shenmue 1 and 2. :D
Ohhh... And Skies of Arcadia... boy, I love the Dreamcast!
What’s a fair price for a Dreamcast in 2019?
dang back when capcom was putting out gems, they were the shit!
Some great Dreamcast games who can't keep his franchise because of Sega retired by made a consoles
Its just my opinion so you have yours.
Are Dreamcast games region locked?
Yes! also you can change the region with code breaker or utopia boot cd
Hi just got a dream cast today £20 no games
Kiss Psycho Circus is a "pretty bad game"? I didn't play the Dreamcast version, but the PC version is pretty good. Not as good as BioShock or Half-Life of course, but unique and worth to be played.
Its still good tho
John: any way you can include gameplay footage in your videos?
Go look on RUclips for that elsewhere it's not difficult.
Ooohbilly was here
But its still good
Good video, although I disagree on Sega GT. That game was garbage compared to the many other great racing games on the system. The tracks were completely forgettable, and the handling just seemed off no matter how well you set up the car.
Don't sell episode 1 short, it was an above average movie but far below Star Wars standards. Sure, seeing Darth Vader's childhood was dumb and Jar-Jar was somewhat racist against Jamaicans, but the rest was pretty good.
But i dont know
MDK2, SLAVE ZERO
nuts n bolts
My sister bought Blue Stinger years ago, and we played it a lot. Never finished it. Shenmue on the other hand, that's probably my favorite game on the system. Can't wait for Shenmue 3!!
Most games that are on dreamcast are on ps1 but the playstation versions are better even the controls
Can I have some of what you are smoking bro?
Carrier was a Resident Evil rip off but it was a lot better than Blue Stinger.
I look at dreamcast as a rip off of PlayStation
no way, dreamcast came out way after PS1 and it felt like a very different system at the time, especially with the weird controller and memory cards.
and the graphics were so much better.
