Hi Carol - Your book is so amazing. I love all of your pages. Lots of love went into each page and it shows. Great job! 💕🧵 PS - I love the fabric cover better! The bunny page is my favorite too.
Hi Carol: Your set up looks great! Please don’t ever compare your work to others. Your pages look fabulous! You and Rachel have inspired me to get slow stitching. Ordered my flosses and should be delivered today. Yay! So happy you’re sticking with a soft journal. Wish I could feel it. 💜😎🇺🇸
Hi Joanne thank you yes it’s so squishy seemed a waste to put in in a hard cover lol. I do try not to compare and remember I’m just starting. I’m so excited you are going to slow stitch and thank you for saying I’ve inspired you that’s amazing 💕
O my I accidentally found you today , I love the haphazard way your approaching everything, your my type of sewing! lo.. sometimes we hit it and sometimes we don't . I love you immediately!! You have fan from Kentucky! I subscribed.!
Hi welcome to my channel I’m so happy to have you along in my little corner of RUclips. Haha haphazard is definitely a good way to describe my approach 😂 thank you for subscribing ❤️
Hey, your new set up looks a treat, we didn't see any Snowbell action in this vid, so will have to wait and see how that goes. I think you definatly need sharper wheels on your pizza cutter, that tool wouldn't cut the skin off a warm rice pudding - cool sawing trick though....!!! Better luck next time, good effort, keep up the good work. . . . . :) :) xx
Your book looks lovely and the best is that you're almost all done. I'm still about a month behind. I'm glad you are giving yourself permission to change your mind and break the rules!
Thank you 😊 I have enjoyed it. Are you posting your photos on Facebook ? I’d love to see them ! Anyway if we do 2 blocks a month next time I’ll be way behind too and that’s perfectly ok. I’ve already decided I’ll be doing it at my own pace 💖
Just came across your post and I had to smile because I came up with the same idea for doing my pages. I used a bonding web to attach the two 'tween' pages instead of sewing them
I agree with others that your rotary cutter definitely needs a new blade (worth every cent!). Always start from the bottom and roll it towards the top of your fabric rather than sawing. I love your journal and will borrow some of your lace ideas when I put mine together 😊
Thank you Tracy 😊 I will be ordering new blades, not sure how long it had been sitting around ! Thank you for the tip about starting from the bottom, I did think I shouldn’t need to be sawing 😂 💖
Ohh! I love your book whatever you decide it's gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your stitchery videos,I enjoyed them so much. I learnt that 'doesn't matter' and this means a lot to me💗💗💗
Thank you so much Guisi 😊 It makes me happy that you enjoy my stitching videos, I do plan on doing more when the new challenge begins. Im not as good as some and I know this so I do what I can do and just let each piece develop as I stitch. 😊💖
Your set up seems great! Are you enjoying it? You can buy the blades in packets on Amazon. A good blade can slice through in one or two swipes. You should not have to saw! LOL I am loving your Journal of Stitchery! It's beautiful! I like the fabric cover so much better than the hard cover. The whole thing will be soft and cushy!
Hi and thank you Rhonda 😊 yes I just wasn’t happy with my book, Im sure I will use it for a journal somewhen ! I will order new wheels for the trimmer thank you and yes Im loving the new set up much more secure and ‘Snowbell proof ‘ 😂❤️
Your pages are just beautiful--and I didn't plan enough either!! I also had the lace on wrong side too, on 2 pages--but in the end it all worked out!! thanks for sharing...hugs Julierose
Your embroideries are beautiful. I was saying to myself re the lace - just switch the pages! my problem is not enough planning either. I did the accordian fold pages but they are not sewn yet. I like your way better.
Thank you 😊 yep definitely more planning next time, and those pages had to be swapped lol, oh well done for trying the accordion style I went for the simple way 😁
I'm so happy to see this video. I had intended to use a Reader's Digest book also, but my pages grew so big that it is impossible. So, now, I also want to use a fabric cover. I understand what you've done so far (love it!), but can you please show how you sew the signatures in and what the spine looks like. Thank you!
Hi Carol thank you for watching 😊 yes sewing in the pages and what I did for my spine is in my latest journal of stitchery video here -ruclips.net/video/gc1oz_sjeVI/видео.html
What a beautiful journal!😍 All the embroidery is impressive. It’s definitely a labor of love. And I’ll say it again, thank you for inspiring me to start stitching again.❤️ My first project is almost done. I’m really having a hard time putting it down… it’s soooo addictive!
Thank you for saying I’ve inspired you I’m so humbled 💖 It’s been a challenge sometimes and having all the support from you and other commenters here has been amazing. Slow stitching is so addictive and I can understand the not putting it down bit lol. It’s definitely something I will be expanding on in the future 😁🤗
What a very interesting looking journal - very colorful as well. Where did you purchase the muslin (??) fabric that you are sewing the pages to? You did some very intricate pages - the one with the little mouse or bunny with the bonnet is super cute! The butterfly page is adorable! The house page is amazing! I haven't done any slow stitching, but this makes me want to try to do something like this! Thanks for the inspiration - first time seeing your channel. Glad RUclips put you on my radar.
Thank you for subscribing great to have you along and just so you know loads more stitching to come 😁 The muslin is actually a piece of curtain lining fabric I got from my scrap store although I guess you can buy it new ! I tend to use recycled materials wherever possible. I love my bunny page too, oh I love that your inspired to have a go I am not expert I just enjoy the process and use my slow stitching as chill out time ❤️
Forgot to mention, your cutter needs a a new blade as someone else said. One slice should have cut through those layers. Being a quilter, there is a special ruler to use with it that is thicker so the blade rides along it and you are less likely to cut your fingers.
Hi yes I have a whole series of videos showing how I put all the pages together, and I do both depending on the prompts. If you go to my playlist section you will see the one that says Slow Stitching and Roxy’s Journal of Stitchery, all my slow stitching videos are in there 😁 Thank you for your interest. ❤
Freehand all the time 😊 If you could ask questions on my more recent videos I can reply quicker, sometimes RUclips doesn’t let me know when someone has replied to a comment x
Ooh dear Carol, please watch some tutorials on rotary cutting. Your ruler is dangerous and you really need some new blades. I was cringing at your technique 😉 I am so pleased you didnt cut yourself, you need a much wider ruler so you can keep your fingers well out the way and NEVER cut towards you. It should be one firm stroke upwards and away from you and not like a saw. The blade should cope with 4 layers easily if its sharp. . End if lecture lol. Your book is gorgeous 🌷
Thank you for your lesson 👍🏼 That’s a good idea to watch tutorials, spur of the moment to use the cutter although you have put me off using my ruler 😁 I will be getting some new blades don’t worry 😉
Look for a clear quilting ruler to use with the rotary blade. It’s a bit thicker than the ruler you have and the blade will have a better edge to glide along! I was holding my breath watching! Scary. You may need a new blade as well.
I don't have the sound on so I don't know if you acknowledged this, but it looks like it's time for a new rotary blade! You are working way too hard there!
@@RecraftedByCarol Yay! I always ask myself why I waited so long to change my blade when I realize how glorious a sharp blade is... I daresay it will happen again... might never learn my lesson!
Be careful you don’t slip over onto the ruler you can cut your fingers really bad ,I would get a proper quilters ruler to use with your rotary cutter….just speaking from experience
Hi Wendy yes I have now got one thank you for your concern 🤗unbelievably I actually found one at the car boot sale so my fingers will be safe, I also purchased brand new cutting blades 😁💖
Yes I have new blades and a cutting board now, what a difference !! Thank you to everyone who commented and concerned for my safety. I am fine 😊
Your pages are beautiful. Love the added lace between the pages! Lovely!
Thank you so much 😊

lol great minds 😊 I had no clue how to do it just had an idea and luckily it worked! I’m not sure how I’m doing the next volume either ❤️
Oh so pretty, your book is! I need to Finish my booklet- I moved in late June, and I’m making attempts to get settled in, and back to my stitching!
Thank you 😊 Moving is so stressful I am sure you have so much to do ! Stitching is a great way to unwind 💕

Carol, this is so scrumptious! All of the texture is so satisfying! Love it so much!!!

I agree.....speaking as a quilt maker, you definitely need a new blade. You shouldn't need to go backwards and forwards. Xxx
Thanks I have brought new blades 😁 i just couldn’t wait to try it 😊
Yes and the rotary blades are replaceable
Thank you Margie 👍🏻 appreciate your answer ❤️
Do you have a video on how you did your papers are they just embroidery or did you slow stitch scraps of fabric on some pages

@@RecraftedByCarol what kind of fabric do you use for embroidery
I use whatever thrifted fabrics I can find, I tend to look for cottons for embroidery ! I will use all sorts in my more abstract stitching x
Do you embroidery your pages then put the book together or the other way around
Hi Doneta I embroider my pages then put the book together 😊
