Shreya - I really appreciate your work. However for the sake of discussion, Oxidation is a process in which a chemical substance changes because of the addition of oxygen. If you leave anything out in the air for long enough - IT IS GOING TO OXIDISE. It may change color because of it. Oxidation of makeup does not happen because of its reaction to the skin, but because of its reaction to the environment - the air around us. SO to avoid it - A. the chemical composition of the foundation should be such that it does not easily react with oxygen (like gold does not oxidize easily but silver does) B. We create a barrier between the layer of foundation and the air in form of a setting spray or powder etc. - in which case the layer of the barrier will oxidize instead. There is no real way to stop air touching the face and the makeup on it. The best one can do is use products which have a chemical composition that delayes oxidation as much as possible, i.e. it does not easily react to oxygen. That'all.
How do you find out which products will oxidize? No matter what brand or color foundation I get, I inevitably end up looking like an Umpa Luma. I also have sensitive skin so that limits my choices.
You can also rub ice cube wrapped in cloth on your entire face before applying moisturizer. That way your skin holds on makeup for longer time without oxidizing.
If you go to the counter of a nice and reputable brand, they shouldn’t do it. More so they are not allowed to behave badly. You can tell them you can complaint about them.
No, Mac does not do that. I've been there likeeee a hell lot of time, they do my full face of foundation and ask us if I want to keep it that way for a while or i want to remove it.
I have super oily skin. This happens with me everytime. 😭😭 After removing my makeup my skin glows like anything. Therefore sometimes I feel like foundations are not meant for oily skin beauties.
After hitting 100k+ subscribers, I don't know why most of the beauty bloggers start reviewing expensive products more than the drug store one. Maximum amount of people own drug store products. We don't get PR and some of us cannot even afford to spend 2500 rupees on a foundation... Shreya is amazing so I really feel she will understand our situation and next time onwards she will try to incorporate some drugstore options as well... ☺️☺️☺️

Uhm, foundations doesn't oxidize! That's common chemistry (and physics) knowledge. Here is a good explination I found (since I'm too lazy to write it by myself): “Oxidization occurs when a substance gives away one or more electrons, thus it is oxidized. The electrons are given to another substance that becomes reduced. The most familiar oxidization processes are the browning of apples and rust. Rust is when iron (Fe) reacts with oxygen (O2) and forms iron oxide (Fe2O3). But your foundations doesn’t rust. This is because the pigments that give colour to your foundation are, except for mineral pigments such as mica, metallic oxides such as iron oxides and titanium dioxide. They’re already oxidized! But what actually happens are not rust, nor witchcraft or hidden fake tan, but a physical phenomenon called the Tyndall effect. When light scatters in a suspension of very fine particles, a colloid, the shorter blue light is scattered more strongly than the longer red light. This is also what makes smoke appear blue and blue eyes to appear blue. The Tyndall effect also scatters the light in the suspended particles in your foundation so that it appears lighter/brighter than it actually is. When the foundation is applied and dries unto the skin, this effect disappears and the foundations shows its true colour. The colour can also be affected by adding oils, or if you already have oily skin. The oil is adsorbed by the pigment, which then can be perceived as darker. Think the colour of freshly oiled wood, compared to non-oiled wood, or how it looks if you accidentally spill oil on a piece of clothing.” - www.prettyscientific.com/2017/11/21/myth-busted-ditt-smink-rostar-inte/
