Man, the kicks are nice and good but that snare with long tail end, that's dope! Can you please show how to do those snares? Or maybe do a video on just creating the entire drumloop?! That will be AWESOME!
Thank you so much for making these tutorials! Ive spent many years as a fan of artists like Solar Fields who create this atmospheric ambient techno / trance style and have always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to create that type of music one day, but didn't really have a good understanding of where to start from. I really appreciate you breaking down the ambient style, its exactly what I was looking for, and one that I will absolutely put to use
I like to work in reverse, i build the busiest part first, then i already know where the song is going, and then i deconstruct that, working "backwards through time" if you like.
From a classical background this is very informative and inspiring to my own work. You are very engaging and generous. Very clear and clean presentation. Looking forward to watching many more. Thank you Chris!
Ok, this is exactly what I needed 🙌 Sometimes there are too many knobs and switches to tune… I just need straightforward workflow. This is perfect for me. Thanks for the lessons 🙏
This is what I'm looking for, ambient beats, I was typing in drum/bass kicks, clicks, trip, pop, whip, bing, bong, loopdy loop...lol Yeah the added beats now and again throughout the song, certain sounds that just echo in the background as well, some brass and wood instruments that give those haunting effects, I do love some low sounding bells now and again, it gives a kind of time thought element⏳ into the far reaching sounds that are infinitely vibrating through space. 🎶🌌 I love this kind of music, always have, it touches the soul!❤ As usual great tutorial, top man, thanks, much appreciated!👍
I've been trying to get into producing as a side hobby for three years, I've moved on in my career (started professional school!) but I have always struggled to make progress in producing and your videos are getting me back in! Appreciate it man, learning from you is one thing I look forward to after a long day.
Thank you for all the help! Not to diminish your work... last Wednesday I pulled an older Ambientish tune I did months ago and thought, something is missing! Why not add some percussion, well guess what! Something similar to your input, I. altered a preset non acoustic kick a little and done what you have done and halved tempo to make it easier to add more and it worked... Now I have still got all in my mind and will try to redo the whole tune differently and with percussion this time!
The beat patterns were so sweet omg! 🤌 I love call and response too. Beautiful and super helpful as always. Chris you’re by far the best music coach ever! I treasure how you love what you do so much! My life motto has always been “when you love what you do you’re alive!” Thank you! 🙏💞
as a modular artist, my whole universe is going at once. I mute the bits I don't want to hear right now, then do the Trovarsi flick to call in a 'new: element that's been playing the whole time, just you couldn't hear it yet.
Time as in dialing in the sound? Absolutely. I don't think too much about it but if you dial them in before you sequence them, they usually sound way better.
love your drums it's Cuba calling Africa to ask "got drummers?" Yes I know the historical implications of this so I stick with the musical. 1/16 slave so no complaints.
Not my favorite post by you, sorry bro. Maybe it's because I've got my beats down already, so I normally find more inspiring things off of your other vids. Here I would of liked to see you get wild with the free Stochas seq or maybe recommend some good free drum synths - you didn't mention synthesis at all which, each to their own I guess. Anyways sorry about the moaning old man stuff, I look forward to seeing you again:) Peace.

...and I forgot to mention it, you are inspiring a lot of people of any age!
Yes it is. I am 69. It is great to have someone like Chris who can teach well.
Yes, exactly ! @@damooro8606 ... and just subscribed to your channel too!
You & Oscar Underdog are the most inspiring teachers I've ever found.

It works!
I also love Carbon Based Lifeforms.

Sounds like idm and I love that
Very useful , esp' the 6 kick patterns
Another excellent video!
Great stuff as always mate. Really inspiring and really usable.❤
Sooo good! Love the format and the wisdom nuggets, bud! And the s1gs sine made an appearance, so all is good with the world! 🔥
Wow !!
Thanks a lot, Chris 🙏🏻.
It's exactly what I needed.
At the same time, I tell myself the same thing for each of all your tutorials, ahah !!
deep kicks, a man of culture. I don't use a lot of 909s, but I am all about that 808 :D
I got inspired by this and made a sample library using the analog four called flurries ambient drums
Briliant session and very helpful for my production
thank you so much chris you know i struggle with drums haha!!

THanks for showing us how to make them clicks :)

Many thanks for the tutorial. Would it be possible also to show how to program those percussions and snares`?
As a drummer (since I was 12), I often think like a drummer. 😜
Love those beats!
Very nice, chrispy beats :)
Great, thank you!
Achievement Unlocked!
6:06 Three dotted 8ths, right? Not 16ths?
Exactly - one dotted eighth is equal to three 16ths in duration,
one kick for the duration of three 16ths - repeated twice more, he just misspoke.
The snares tho.
your beats remind me of catsoup or drip-133
Question: do you put time in pitching the percussive samples?
Time as in dialing in the sound? Absolutely. I don't think too much about it but if you dial them in before you sequence them, they usually sound way better.
