Interesting to hear the current take on Mordenkainen. This is what I've come across for the original Citadel of Eight: From Wikipedia "Gygax: "The Obsidian Citadel and its Circle of Eight was original to my own campaign. When Mordenkainen was at a level I considered too high for normal adventuring, I used the money he and his associates had amassed to construct the said fortress. The members of the 'Circle were Mordenkainen and...others of my PCs: Bigby, Yrag the fighter, Rigby the cleric, Zigby the Dwarf, the Elves Vram and Vin, and Felnorith as principles. A number of lesser PCs were [also] associated.""Gary Gygax: Q & A (Part III, Page 17)". EN World. 2003-07-08. Retrieved 2009-03-15"
With the 1st edition rules on giving up treasure for monks, and paladins, my groups often had good aligned Greyhawk parties. We did a whole good aligned party who were missionaries going into the Great Kingdom (ruled by a demon).
Thanks for the Blood War stuff and the inspiration.... might lead to an interesting devolpment in the near future for my party of mixed alignment adventures!
Chris, "20th level at minimum...." Greg, "Epic level character?" Chris, "Not in this edition, not yet..." EPIC LEVEL CHARACTER OPTIONS FOR 5E CONFIRMED! :p
Kenny Coppernoll we know where Graz'zt went to, and even what he was up to before that. Tyrant of Ashes by Erin M. Evans, and you shall have the information you seek, it's really cool.
Mason B in FR he did, but it's been hinted that he used to be a God before that at some point, but lost it. In FR Canon Asmodeus gained Godhood by eating Azmoth (me and Perkins have very different ideas of nice guy), but that changed during the Sundering. A great book to read on this is the last two books of the Brimstone Angels series, Tyrant of Ashes and the Devil You Know.
I could listen to chris all day long
“He is minimum 20th level”
“We don’t have epic levels in this edition...”
“Not in this edition. Not yet.”
OH BOY CHRIS PERKINS
They do epic level stuff every edition. We're still early in this edition. im so hype
He is 27th level....
There is an option in the DMG to gain feats or benifits each level over 20.
Ah always loved Bigby.
'Bigby's handy guide to magic' would be funny (To me anyway)
Jacob McCray I respect your pun and would campaign for that to be a thing.
I love how brilliant Chris is in terms of lore and sheer story telling prowess.

"Here, sign this." Oh my gawd. Omen Drawn is Asmodeus!!!
Oh I recently got those old magazines where the wizards met in Ed Greenwood's kitchen. He fed them leftovers.

Thanks for this LYSK. It gave several good ideas for a tier 4 game I need to plot out.
he did go down the path of Lichdom one time;
Vecna took him and his band of do-gooders to the woodshed
in slow motion
He might be me .... nobody caught that! I sense a Asmodeus storyline upcoming.
Mordenkainen first appeared bald in the cover of 3rd edition's Living Greyhawk Gazetteer, then in Epic Level Handbook.
Does anybody have the timestamp about when they start talking about critical Role?
hey love you guys but maybe hit up penny arcade to ask about their audio set up.
Holy shit... did he just say out of the abyss 2!? Tell me we learn where Graz’zt went, please!!!!
Mad Mage of Mount Baratok! How did I miss that!?

Mordenkainen appears in Death Masks?? AWESOME
Avernus is the most heavy metal version of tower defense. Get some!
My DM just put us against a devil trying to drag a city into the Nine Hells! Ahhhh!!!!
Then that devil was narrow sighted. The true Lord Who Watches is looking to take all of Faerun!
Did you accidentally predict Descent Into Avernus?
WAIT, Mordenkainen is not chaotic!
Wait, I thought Asmodeus became a god by stealing the divinity of Azuth?

thought he was neutral
Needs more bing-bongs.
PLANESCAPE HYPE.
Asmodeus carries loads
Mordenkainen kinda reminds me of Rick Sanchez

Please don't giggle into microphone
