- Chris Perkins and host Greg Tito discuss the Seven Apprentices who accompanied Halaster Blackcloak into Undermountain in a Lore You Should Know segment. -- Watch live at / dnd
This is fantastic. I could listen to Chris Perkins discuss lore all day long... Will have to come back and watch again when I get ready to run this module! A+++++
Instablaster.
Its so awesome hearing this again. The last time they visited this lore was Ruins of Undermountain II. Looking forward to this!
I was always under the impression halaster also had a penchant for portal magic and specialized in crafting multiple types of portals..possibly delving into planar magic?.. was just curious what happened with that. One of my most memorable campaigns I was running a myth drannor session..which evolved via a magical gate the party entered, underneath Cormanthor, a one way gate. porting the entire party into a fountain pool, within the bowels of undermountain. Skullport was a blast, underdark converging ...the hub between worlds. awesome dungeon. glad to hear you all have revamped it again. looking forward to revisiting the mage mages abode
Dragon Heist is a really good product!! Very rich and well built narrative. So glad I bought it to DM and get to play as well in a different session at my local shop. Now I want the Mad Mage 🧙♀️....
Muiral (Halaster's ex-bodyguard), is actually first mentioned (as far as I know) in the original 2e Ruins of Undermountain. He's in Undermountain II as well. I saw that the WizKids mini of this apprentice is miss-named as "Murial". It's also miss-spelled this way at least once in the Dungeon of the Mad Mage guidebook.
I've been running WD/UM campaigns since the 90s, and I sometimes still pronounce Muiral as "Murial," because that's how I first misread it as a 12 year old D&D newbie.
At 19:59 Tito really gets into the topic by role playing as an apprentice.
Greg, the name Nester may sound familiar because it was the name of a character from Nintendo Power magazine from the late 80s and early 90s. The name was based on the name of the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), hence NESter. He was depicted as an older child or early adolescent, and was always looking for a way to cut corners to get ahead in video games.
Barovian ghost girl at 0:54 :P
7:12 So it's sort of like Trobriand's Tomb of Foes?
More like the Island of Misfit Toys.
13:33 Dude's SKELETRON?!
Hey. I like these videos a lot.. just one technical opinion...sorry. Can you make the frame wider on the wide shot so they aren’t on the edge of the frame with no headroom like the older vids? Feels a bit uncomfortable Rn, there is so much space between them which makes it feel like they aren’t connecting but at the same time suffocating on the edge of frame😂.. maybe that just me... either way, keep up the great content!
Nester's descrition sounds much like Reluraun from Ardeep Forest
Didn't Arcturia used to be made out of thousands of little worms?
3:13 Is he Chris? Is he really?
Needs more bing bongs.
Screw you editor! (jk, love you guys!)
LOL 0:54
Still waiting for Galvan from Tyranny of Dragons... lol
What happened to Matt. Does he not work for Wizard’s anymore?
