  • Autopsy Report
    *Decedent:* Lex Luthor
    *Case Number:* 1960-001
    *Date of Birth:* Unknown
    *Date of Death:* December,16, 1962
    *Age:* Approx. 45 years
    *Gender:* Male
    *Race:* Caucasian
    *Height:* 6'2"
    *Weight:* 190 lbs
    *Date of Autopsy:* December 17,1962
*Performed by:* Dr. Charles McNider (Doctor Mid-Nite), Chief Medical Examiner
    #### External Examination:
The body is that of a well-developed, well-nourished Caucasian male appearing consistent with the reported age of approximately 45 years. The body weighs 190 pounds and measures 6 feet 2 inches in length. The hair is bald. The eyes are closed. The pupils are irregular and appear charred. There are no other notable deformities or injuries externally observed on the body.
    *Clothing and Personal Effects:*
The decedent was clothed in a business suit, now partially scorched and damaged, indicating exposure to extreme heat. No personal effects were found on the body.
    #### Internal Examination:
    *Head and Central Nervous System:*
Upon examination of the head, there are significant thermal injuries extending from the orbital regions. The eyes are severely damaged, with the ocular globes partially disintegrated. The optic nerves show signs of thermal coagulation. The brain is grossly edematous with focal areas of charred tissue extending into the frontal lobes.
    *Neck:*
The structures of the neck are intact. There is no evidence of trauma to the cervical spine, larynx, or major blood vessels.
    *Chest and Cardiovascular System:*

The abdominal organs are in their usual anatomical positions. The liver, spleen, pancreas, and kidneys are grossly unremarkable. The stomach contains partially digested food material, and there are no signs of trauma.
    *Musculoskeletal System:*
The musculoskeletal system shows no evidence of fractures or other trauma.
    *Toxicology:*
Samples of blood, urine, and vitreous humor were taken for toxicology analysis. Results are pending.
    **Cause of Death:
The cause of death is determined to be severe thermal injury to the brain secondary to laser-induced ocular trauma. The nature of the injuries suggests the use of a high-energy laser beam directed precisely into the eyes, causing extensive damage to the brain.
    #### Manner of Death:
The manner of death is classified as Homicide.

Then, in later photos after his reappearance, he's always seen floating high above, his features masked in a shadowy silhouette. It's a neat detail showing the contrast between who he once was as the typical kind-hearted down to earth boy scout he normally is, and the unknowable being he's become, watching over us all to decide whomever needs to be "cleansed" from the world.

This is a great theory, and you bring up great points! I just find it a little hard to believe that WWII would be the main/only cause for Superman's shift. He leaves sometime in 1960, and comes back on December 1st, 1962. World War 2 has been over for around 15 years (it ended in 1945) by the time he leaves, and even if we used the Korean War as another cause for Superman's shift, that war technically ended in 1953.
If anything, I believe that WWII, along with the Korean War, and the Vietnam War (since it technically started in 1955, and ended in 1975) could be the reasons for his difference in behavior. Superman's earliest memories of earth, based on the video, are of his time during the Great Depression. He's a young man during WWII, and the Korean War (if he had any hand in it at all) is not far behind. And the Vietnam War is even closer.
My theory is that he became disillusioned with the governments and groups that said they were after peace, yet left so much chaos and destruction in their wake. When a group that worships him commits acts of violence and destruction, in his "honor" so to speak, that's his breaking point. Maybe he thinks that all he's been doing is for the benefit of the so-called leaders, the ones who see soldiers as statistics. What he was doing wasn't for humanity's benefit, it was for theirs. So when he comes back, and sees what his followers have done, he snaps. He goes after the people he thinks will create another WWII, who will be the reason there are so many lost in another war. Lex being a target makes sense, too, considering the power he holds. (Money talks, after all.)
You're right in the idea that he doesn't want to do this, that he seems remorseful. Superman most likely feels he has no choice. It's for the good of this world, after all. Superman could be thinking that if he can get rid of these heavy hitting people, who put so many lives at stake, wouldn't the world be better for it? One casualty is better than a hundred, or a thousand, or a million, right?
Anyway. You had some great ideas! Sorry if this was alot.

Also the fact that when Superman saw him and said that he'd rid the world of people like him it's logical to say that he was refering to Luthor

so my theory is that Superman, having fought in WW2 and seen a cult dedicated to himself hurt other people and commit violent acts, finally broke and is convinced that humanity can never be peaceful or co-exist with eachother and has begun killing people he percieves as being threats to peace. the reason he says "Im sorry" in the red text is becuase this is the last thing he ever wanted to do but believes this is what needs to happen.

    • @kenjiphobiaxoxo
      @kenjiphobiaxoxo 2 месяца назад +10

I feel like the red text at the end is more like him apologizing to the rest of humanity for the bad people's bullshit. There's another red text where it says 'I'm sorry for what I'm about to do to your planet', foreshadowing his return to be the people's 'God'.
His viewpoints on humanity did change due to the cult, because he realizes that humans can take something so pure and good (like his legacy) and use it for something evil in an instant. Like VDiddy5000 said, he's like 'Fine. If I can't inspire you to be good, I'll force you to be. If I can't be your role model, I'll be your God instead'
He also says to Luthor he'd 'save this planet from people like you', showing that he knows that not all people are bad

I think this has the potential to be a great Superman horror story that gives a more terrifying perspective on the archetype we wouldn't really see with homelander or Omni man (atleast in terms of analog horror.) I think it would almost FORCE him to change his perspective because you have an alien boy raised in a loving home by humans, and then other humans start worshipping him and doing atrocious things in his name when he grows up, eventually leading to his loved ones being killed. It would show him the true nature of humanity and what humanity is really capable of, I believe it would change Superman's perspective that humans are rabid and maybe even lesser than someone like him, and it would make him tune into this alien god persona more and more.

I'm tired of people trying to make him an edgy antihero to make him more "relatable" or make him this pure evil monster blinded by his god-like status. One of the few exceptions I think the trope is done well is Homelander, and after seeing this video, I now count this as one of the tropes done right.
Superman here is clouded by so much mystery, disappearing for 20 years and coming back to conquer earth, implied to have killed his own cult, (maybe out of disgust for being worshiped as a god?) and showing hints he possibly feels remorse for what he's doing, almost as if he doesn’t want to commit these atrocities, but still feel the need to do them anyway. It's enough to keep him interesting without bogging him down with the annoying aspects most evil Supermans have. It's really well done!

Like humanity and what we were willing to do to each other meant we didn't deserve him reserving his full anger and viciousness against those of us that wronged each other or him. We didn't deserve any mercy. Then, him coming back again changed so he's extremely violent but still mentally stable enough that he does the same right but killing his enemies in horrific ways and still seen as a messiah is a horror story. A barely mentally stable, just enough, Superman who kills in such horrific ways that causes everyone to be on their best behavior. He's just waiting for that push to destroy everything and everyone. Maybe the idea of having the picture of the face of God is a valued commodity, and lex was trying to take over the market 🤷

Has some seriously cool potential, but for me, this didn't work. First, though, I'll say what did work for me.
The first thing that comes to mind is the concept. Superman being treated as a god -- and, by no direct action of his own, seeing a cult spring up around him -- is such a fascinating and interesting thing. The concept hooked me immediately. Additionally, I love the idea of Lex Luthor -- someone we almost exclusively know as a 'villain' -- being one of the few people to recognize something wrong with Superman (or, at the very least, something wrong with him not dealing with the cult that appears).
That being said -- while I did really, really love the ideas you were working with here -- it fell flat. Didn't work for me. The opening moments were strong, and felt like they were leading me in to something wicked cool... but they didn't lead to anything. I felt that there were far too many 'dramatic pauses' here; when used sparingly, they can work great to strengthen tension and unease, but when used too frequently, they merely interrupt the story and pull me out of the world I'm trying to get immersed in.
Additionally, I had no idea Lex Luthor was the one 'narrating' here (or, more accurately: I did not know this was made from his perspective) until the conclusion, paired with my reading of the description and comments. While dramatic reveals and 'pull of the rug' moments can work, I felt that -- in this context -- I was simply confused. On a more technical note: when it came to showing us the image of Superman's face captured through the telescope... I couldn't see anything at all. I think there's a difference between a 'hard-to-see' image that adds to the atmosphere versus an 'I can't even tell what I'm looking at' image where, even when I paused to get a good look, I did not understand what was attempting to be shown.
In more of a storytelling or worldbuilding sense, I also had some questions. Why was Lex Luthor, in this universe, obsessed with finding Superman after he vanished? Why did Superman vanish? Why did the cult that rallied around Superman vanish? How were the governments of the world involved, or not involved? Why did Lex Luthor create this video -- the one we're watching here -- and who did he want to show it to? (Was he trying to 'reveal' something to the public about the true nature of Superman? I'm unsure.) If Lex Luthor was trying to show the world something about Superman, what specifically was he trying to show? (From what I gathered, sure, it was weird that a cult arose to worship Superman, and that they all then disappeared, but Superman never actually did anything negative here. Not a single bad thing. No missing persons, suspicious activities, nothing. It left me unsure what Lex Luthor was trying to prove with this video.) Additionally, why did Lex Luthor include "I'm sorry" at the end? What was he sorry for? Making the video? Revealing something about Superman? (RE: my earlier note on him not revealing anything.)
With all this in mind, I still think you have a legitimately fascinating concept here. There's a lot of really cool stuff you could do with this, and from the concept alone, I was instantly hooked; I wanted to learn more, and I wanted to see where the story would go. However, the execution fell a bit flat for me, and it left me confused (in a negative way). Still, I think you have a lot of really killer elements at play here, and with some tweaking on execution of these elements in the future, you could have yourself a really fascinating -- and terrifying -- exploration into what a Superman analog horror short film or series could be.
    Best of luck!

I absolutely adore the idea, but I really think you could do more with the concept.
First off, 1960 and 1962 are a pretty strange choice of dates since they aren't really significant to Superman or comics as a whole, it also places this in the middle of the Silver Age despite clearly drawing from the Golden Age. I would suggest pushing these dates back, in particular 1954 and 1956 would work well, being the introduction of the Comics Code and the beginning of the Silver Age respectively.
I'd also suggest playing into the era more. Use film grain instead of TV distortion, style the video like the George Reeves Adventures of Superman show, or maybe do one like those cold war era educational videos. It'd be more unique and distinguish this from Nixonverse which it is far too similar to.
This vid is also pretty much just exposition, there's not much horror in just being told things. Instead of just saying Superman worshipers were violent to other religions, show a picture of a church that's been vandalized with the S logo, or something like that. Also "The Sanctum Of The Skyward Savior" is a silly name, "The House of El" is a much better cult name imo and it plays into Superman lore.

Then the end, when he accepts his role, he threatens Luther directly for basically looking upon the face of god. This tracks with him being less public and only appearing when he’s coming after someone.

Batman and superman are very well done, I'm still curious to know what Flash will be like and which one.
    The next ones could be:
Aquaman: who is a half-man, half-fish humanoid who destroys any ship that passes by his ocean and pre-oil reefs.
Cyborg: who after the accident that transformed him into Cyborg, is infected by a virus in the system that drives him crazy
Shazam: where the boy, instead of using his powers for good, does the exact opposite

Okay, wait, what’s the logic here? Lex uses a telescope to see Superman’s face. But then it’s edited to imply that that’s when he was killed with heat vision? So then how the fuck was he able to show the photo to us now? Or was he killed later and he was just having fun editing the video and messing with the effects? Or was Superman typing the text from Lex’s point of view for no reason? Or did Superman just add in the last part later?
And how does the song Starman exist in 1962?

My guess is Superman in this universe isn't as morally strong as prime earth Superman's, so after the war, Superman left the planet for a while and came back to see what the cult that had formed in his name has done.
Now, seeing that humanity can't be trusted to live and be peaceful on its own because they keep destroying themselves, Superman has decided to rule over humanity to enforce peace and is willing to eliminate any potential threat to his reign.
    Did I get this right?

Not a theroy at all, because I don't have evidence, but I like to think that the one that returned isn't Clark/Kal El.
Maybe in 1960 Superman left Earth because he had some evidence that there could be other Kryptonians in space, so he went looking for them just to find Zod and his followers, who overpowered Supes.
After an interogation they discovered that Kal was viewed as a hero in Earth, so Zod took advantage of it and decided to disguise as him and try to take the planet, but after he saw the existance of the Superman cult he decides to take advantage of it and become Earth's god.
That's why he just takes criminals and goes back to the sky, he wants to be seen like an all mighty and all seeing entity that doesn't wants to fiddle with inferior individuals, and also to prevent people figuring out he's not the original

So, I’m probably not the first person to say this, but the first space flight was 1961, pretty damn close to the period of this piece and the return of Superman. I speculate that he came to help humanity then left, and now sees our attempts to achieve space flight as “trying to be come gods” or closer or whatever. And as he returns, he sees how the people who worship him aren’t accepting, probably something he was preaching. He sees despite his efforts, Humanity cannot grow, and can only seek more through greed (further speculation is that maybe something similar happened on krypton and now he’s trying to prevent it in his own twisted way)
