  • The Rescue of Eddie & Elliott - A Bald Eaglet Adventure Book & Pair of Plush Toys in Camouflage Backpack available now at www.keithsframeofmind.com Great story written from the perspective of one of the eaglets about the amazing rescue, as a picture book to read to children while they cuddle these soft plush replicas, and as a sure conversation coffee table book. Follow my Facebook page keithsframeofmind,
    In 2019 a pair of baby bald eagles were found on the ground in a hedge. This is their story and pictures of how they were found and put back in their nest.
    The eaglets were sitting there waiting to go into a duffle bag, as a volunteer tree climber was rigging up his lines, and getting ready to climb to the nest. We had 2 different wildlife rescue professionals on site and also the local Department of Fish & Wildlife standing there overseeing the operation. They had already been to the vet to be checked out, and were fine. The myth about not handling birds because of human scent is purely a myth. Do the research and you will know. It is actually printed on brochures, and handed out to educate people, and encourages you to pick up birds and put them back in the nest, if you can do so safely. For Bald Eagles it is illegal to handle them and you need to contact a wildlife rescue center or the Fish & Wildlife office to handle them. As for comments about me photographing them, we were waiting for the tree climber to climb the tree, before putting them in the bag to shuttle up to him. Center Valley Wildlife Rescue and Department of Fish & Wildlife were on hand as we waited to return them to the nest. They were accepted back in the nest, and did fledge. :) Great ending to heroic efforts by caring volunteers!

    Human hand can touch and save lives. I enjoy seeing this because not always human hand can touch and do harm. If those eaglets have been in the wrong hands the story would be different. I'm glad that are OK with their parents where they should be and not in some sanctuary. Mama eagle was stressed out and worry for her babies because she's the one who's there for them, protecting from bad weather, intruders and feed them. Daddy too in his way for providing food, protecting his entire family. I'm glad everything turn up OK and for those who did such a great job.. hats down. 🙇🏼

      No one knows exactly how they got so far away from the nest after presumably falling or just walking out of it.

    • @keithsframeofmind
      @keithsframeofmind  2 года назад +1

      They were examined by the vet in town and there were no puncture wounds at all. And the nest was nearly flat with no "bowl". I suspect they wrestled their way over the edge and fell into the underbrush.
