Beautiful shop and home. Thanks for sharing. One suggestion add lights under the top cupboards in the house. They light up the kitchen counter so much better. I wouldn't be without mine.
Just a note, and suggestion, and I say this because I learned the hard way, don’t block your kitchen access with an island or peninsula so you have only one way in and out You won’t like it Nice home and shed, enjoy and stay safe!
I think a log cattle gate or two smaller one for upstairs in the shop that way you could mount it to the beams to swing out of the way to load pallets upstairs
When I design my house it took about 4 hours start to finish. We used stock plans but added some areas and all other stuff from toilet , door knobs etc. We had to do our whole inside house one color and they would not do more.
Thanks for another great video Brian. It was interesting. Thanks so much for the tour of your new home and that great shop of yours. Your new home is wonderful. Will be a great place to call home. All of the layout you showed us is very nice. Never heard of that tile product you and your wife are talking about for the master shower. Must be something new on the market. Big kitchen, that is nice and large living area. Like the outside fireplace. Neat idea. Building a new home is never easy. Lots of decisions along the way to get it the way you want. All in all you folks have a wonderful new home. Appreciate the tour. Looking forward to the next one. The shop. All I can say is wow, wow. What a great farm shop with LOTS of room. That is great. You always run out of room it seems. Nice kitchen and desk area. You really have it all in the tool room and big loft area and closets and bathrooms and all that stuff. You all put a lot of thought into it and it shows. Super super nice shop. My compliments to you all. Like the doors, lots of doors, easy to get in and out from anywhere in the shop. Like the floor machine, you are like the Larsons now. Yeah!!!!!! Appreciate you showing us around the shop. More to come I am sure. Thanks Brian for taking the time to show us around. Thanks for everything. You all take care and be safe. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Brian congratulations on your accomplishments, new shop and a new home. You two deserve it, couldn't happen to a better couple. You definitely take pride in what you have. Keep the updates coming. Thanks for the tour!!
Congratulations on the house and the shop. They both look nice. If I had that shop, I would never go home. Will put some try of curtain up for the wash bay to help keep the moisture contained to the area when you are cleaning trucks or equipment. I enjoyed the video.
Thank you so much for mentioning the date/ dates you’ve filmed. It makes it much easier to follow along. Keep the great videos coming. Edit; I agree a deep drawer Snap-on box would be a great dresser for me also.
My wife and I are building our own house ourselves. We’ve been working on it for 14 months, raising a 5 year old and a 7 year old and running a business. I’m also a volunteer firefighter and I sustained a severe brain injury on a call last winter and could get off the couch for three months. Never ever will I build my own house again. It’s a challenge most won’t truly understand the undertaking unless they attempt it themselves. Also if you don’t have a solid marriage don’t do it! I’m glad you guys have someone building for you! I hope one day I can afford to have someone build me a home. Cheers
I just Subscribed, and yes that tub shroud does exist, i am a plumber and the shower shroud does exist and i love it over tile, best of luck with it too. House and shop looks great.
Just a note, the cabinets in the laundry room, Put them on casters so that your washer and dryer are not trapped behind them. It is easier to move a cabinet on wheels that lifting the appliances over them.
When you say "we" picked out, you really mean "she" picked out.😂 You and your lovely bride are making a bunch of sticks, sheetrock, and tin a home. May God Bless you and your family with joy, and I can't wait for the Grand Tour when it's done!
with kitchin layout, cut some lengths of timber lath and put on floor as if they are cabinets and island , then try walking round various , sink to fridge, fridge to island etc this will give a go idea of best flows.
A shower in the bathroom is a must it is so nice to be able to watch the morning news or catch up on some briefings or something while you’re getting ready for the day
Couple suggestions: have several lights added to a motion detector timer so as soon as you walk in lights go on. Also, two big ass fans for the ceiling to move that heat around. It’ll cut your heating expenses by at least 20% moving air is key.
good luck w the house- a few suggestions-Dont do a peninsula, do the island instead. Even if you have to walk slightly around it for traffic, the large island will be better. Consider a very large format tile for your bath walls if the cement idea doesnt work out. There are some great tiles that look like cement(I installed 2'x4' in my laundry room). Have your electrician put in a box behind where your primary bath vanity will be and consider a drawer outlet inside your vanity. Great place to store hairdryers etc and can leave plugged in all the time. consider adding an outlet on a switch at your mantle location. Great for xmas lights etc that can be plugged in without extension cords and turned on via switch or wall timer. Cheers!
Looking good. For the kitchen, use tape on the floor to mark out the cabinets and bar area. That way you can see how much room they take up and if you don't like that layout, you can peel up and change.
Another option for your kitchen island what I did is I made mine movable with a little for foot locks like you would on a toolbox so you can move it closer in when you want to use it for prepping or you can move it further out the way when you need more area to walk through Etc.
I've got a bench and can shoot out window to a 200 yd range upstairs in my house, plus my reloading room...yes deer hunt and live stream u tube upstairs...Great Vid....building a house is a headache
All RUclips farm shops must have floor scrubber. Larsons set the bar for y’all 😂. You definitely need switches at each man door to already turn on one or so lights to see once coming in.
Is the loft strong enough to hold totes full of oil? A tote of each with a drop hose down to a distributor.. That would be slick to keep them out of the way..
House looks amazing. Don;t forget the exhaust fans in the bathrooms. I have an exhaust fan, heater fan and light all in one fixture, it is great. It provides a little heat in the cold months.
Our camper got overrun with stink bugs last fall at paint creek. I got some stink bug killer at central center hardware & it did a good job getting rid of them.
Kitchen, anything over a 36" wall cabinet and you'll never use it, but a 42" on the ends looks great. Loft, using welded aluminum tube railing mounted on floor receiver's with clevis pins and cotter pins, can be removed easily for bringing up pallets. Thanks for the tour.
Dang man, I love the house and the shop! Is the house close by? Like is it right on the edge of the same land the shops on? You guys are really investing in future generations for your family and your farm and I love that!
That doorway into the kitchen is right in the wrong spot for an island and the peninsula cuts the kitchen off from the room so you have to walk all the way around the backside to gain access. But then again the kitchen triangle is so far out of whack with the fridge placement that you might as well do whatever!!. I know it's probably to late but get some cardboard or tape and tape the floor plan out. Ive done it before to help customers see the plan.
One thing I suppose you have considered is electrical outlets. You can never had enough. We purchased a redi built home in 2000 after we lost our house to fire. In looking at many different ones om display we got the one that had the most in strategic areas
Brian, look up cultured marble. Its mixed with water then they pour it in a custom mold. Have it in our shower and the only joints are in the corners and the bottom is solid no joints at all.
We just got done building a house and did marble for our master shower. Each wall, floor, and bench are one piece. We had a tile look made into it but there's actual grout lines so it's easy to clean. They also made a shampoo/soap nook built in to one of the walls.
The wash bay is 100’ wide but I doubt we us 100’ often. We will use the pit much more and it made the most sense on an end of the building. The pit does also have a sump pump
In our home we had a large corner triangle tub. Seemed like a nice thing at the time but never hardly ever got used . Perhaps a seating set up in the shower would be used more.
Brian, they make a kitchen pantry with sliding shelves in 18,25, and 30 inch widths, with a top two door cabinet that goes over the refrigerator. There are different configurations for the shelves
Brian ......... that shop drain ..... i may have a fix for ya ....... lay out a snap line about a half inch from the plastic drain on the concrete ......... then take a small grinder with a diamond blade ........ an cut from the snap line to the plastic at a 45 degree angle ........ then clean all the dust an dirt ....... get a commercial grade caulking with a primer ....... prime the plastic an the concrete on the 45 degree angle ....... get some blue masking tape........... tape both the plastic drain at the edge an the concrete at the edge of the cut ....... then lay in the caulk ........ you can take off the excess caulk with a putty knife ...... remove the masking tape ........ you will have a nice clean job that will seal between the concrete an the plastic ....... the caulk will remain pliable against the plastic an won't crack ............ preferably find someone with some caulking experience . ...... if i was close .... i'd come an do it for ya ........ a dow corning 795 caulk will work fine for it ........ pick the color you want .
Hey Brian we have micro cement in our 4 on suite showers and love it way better than tile stays way cleaner than tile ! your wife is right and she will love it ! nice house by the way ! will ya be moved in for Christmas
its a big thing in new build homes in Canada were we live ! its way cheaper than tiles ! just do your research and get a recognized company to come and do the job for you lots of information on the web about it ! we are really impressed with the product
Black slate for flooring in your bathroom/shower room is really nice,,Micro concrete is hard wearing but very hard to clean and also if not kept dry after you use shower ,It can attract mould,,,Again you can use black slate for the walls as well as the floor...
Mrs. Brown, do not put a cabinet above the refrig. Have a shelf all open and lit for decor. Women can't get nto cabinet anyway. We have done it this way for 2 houses. Trust me, you'll love it ! My wife's design and everyone comments on it ! Have a switch by the fridge and buy an LED light for accent !
Also motion detector for the lights in the bathroom and office. That way lights aren’t left on and dirty hands don’t touch the walls. Life’s about details.
Paint color- “cozy neutral” it’s a gray/tan/off white, goes w everything! Not sure if it’s Sherwin Williams or Diamond Vogel brand but they both can make it.
****MY BAD!!! Not cozy neutral!! I was way off, just checked out design sheet. GRAY OWL by Benjamin Moore!!!! We used it for our whole house and just did a random feature wall other colors over the next 5 years.
With the size of the shop maybe you should look into having the light controled by the smart phone. That way you can open the door and turn the lights on when you drive something in. Just a thought.
Is the workshop bedroom forward planning for when you take the yeasing too far and get locked out or take her out on your anniversary to a farm show to treat her to (free) lunch at some of the booths? 😉
If you can swing it, you might want to look into ADA accessories for your kitchen cabinets. There are shelving units that go inside the cabinet holding all of your plates and whatnot, you then just pull the unit out of the cabinet and down to your counter top. There are gas shocks to assist with the weight.
I have the same floor drain. Mine broke the plastic drain part kinda sucked now don't know what to do. Very displeased with it. Mine was cracking like yours noticed it this winter when washing it had cracked and water was going down before the drain where the plastic had broke
Beautiful shop and home. Thanks for sharing. One suggestion add lights under the top cupboards in the house. They light up the kitchen counter so much better. I wouldn't be without mine.
Everything is coming together. Good job Brian.
Thanks for the house tour. Shop is fantastic!!
For the TV, look at the Mantel Mount! We've installed those in our last two homes above the fireplace and love it!
I love seeing good things happen to good people. You and your family deserve this Brian. Well done!!
Thanks so much
Just a note, and suggestion, and I say this because I learned the hard way, don’t block your kitchen access with an island or peninsula so you have only one way in and out
You won’t like it
Nice home and shed, enjoy and stay safe!
Damn nice house and shop Brian. I am sure you are extremely proud of both. Congratulations!!
TV on the shower......indoor dear stand above the garage.......Brilliant!!!!
I think a log cattle gate or two smaller one for upstairs in the shop that way you could mount it to the beams to swing out of the way to load pallets upstairs

y'alls Home is looking beautiful and the shop looks amazing. Thank you
Brian congratulations on your accomplishments, new shop and a new home. You two deserve it, couldn't happen to a better couple. You definitely take pride in what you have. Keep the updates coming. Thanks for the tour!!
Thanks 👍
😂😂omg your response to the color for the fireplace was great .
Wow, the place is really taking shape for you and Kayla and it was great having her on camera for more than a few seconds.
House and shop are going to be awesome! Congratulations!
Congratulations on the house and the shop. They both look nice. If I had that shop, I would never go home. Will put some try of curtain up for the wash bay to help keep the moisture contained to the area when you are cleaning trucks or equipment. I enjoyed the video.
The up-to-date on all the buildings, home, and shop, was great. I enjoyed the upload very much, Hope you in home soon.
Thanks 👍
Thank you so much for mentioning the date/ dates you’ve filmed. It makes it much easier to follow along.
Keep the great videos coming.
Edit; I agree a deep drawer Snap-on box would be a great dresser for me also.
That 15' ceiling in the kitchen corner is the perfect place to put a platform & put a Christmas Tree 🎄 up out of reach. Could change by the season.
Enjoy the video on your house Brian and Familys Brown Ho Love that big Building .now were your roller skats for the big Building .
House and shop are both looking good. Bolt bins could go to the loft. Hope you can work out the drain issue.
Love the smaller details like the floor drain etc! Congrats
You all sure have a lot on your plate this fall !! House sure is going to be nice for your family !
My wife and I are building our own house ourselves. We’ve been working on it for 14 months, raising a 5 year old and a 7 year old and running a business. All looks great! Don't forget a basketball hoop in the shop!
Congratulations on your new home it looks fabulous.
Kayla scared me when Going into the basement. I made sure I liked😂
I just Subscribed, and yes that tub shroud does exist, i am a plumber and the shower shroud does exist and i love it over tile, best of luck with it too. House and shop looks great.

Beautiful home, Brian. Congrats.
Great choices of exterior colors/design.
Brain the shop & house look great. So happy for y’all.
Very nice house and shop!
Happy for you and the Brown family. You have come a long ways happy to see your new home and shop . Enjoy enjoy.
When you say "we" picked out, you really mean "she" picked out.😂 You and your lovely bride are making a bunch of sticks, sheetrock, and tin a home. May God Bless you and your family with joy, and I can't wait for the Grand Tour when it's done!
Awesome shop you are missing a overhead crane though but it still looks like a awesome building only problem I see is it is not on my farm 😊
I saw on Iver’s Farm YT video they put a work bench in along the wall like 50’ long great for working on cutter bar.
with kitchin layout, cut some lengths of timber lath and put on floor as if they are cabinets and island , then try walking round various , sink to fridge, fridge to island etc this will give a go idea of best flows.
A shower in the bathroom is a must it is so nice to be able to watch the morning news or catch up on some briefings or something while you’re getting ready for the day
I like when you tell us the date you film. Helps me keep track better! 😂

All great stuff! First holidays in a new house and new shop! Congratulations!
Tv over the fireplace is nice. We have a very similaire setup in our living room!!
Nice set up my friend! God bless y'all
what a blessing! Love seeing how hard work and sacrifice can lead to a home like this!
The house looks amazing. Great video Brian
For the railing in the loft you could use chains with quick links on each end.
Looking good. For the kitchen, use tape on the floor to mark out the cabinets and bar area. That way you can see how much room they take up and if you don't like that layout, you can peel up and change.
That's what my brother does to show folks a lay-out. Visual can be usual
Another option for your kitchen island what I did is I made mine movable with a little for foot locks like you would on a toolbox so you can move it closer in when you want to use it for prepping or you can move it further out the way when you need more area to walk through Etc.
On the shop kitchen….can you raise the return air to the ceiling or closer to the ceiling on the wall??
I've got a bench and can shoot out window to a 200 yd range upstairs in my house, plus my reloading room...yes deer hunt and live stream u tube upstairs...Great Vid....building a house is a headache

The house and workshop look very nice
Awesome house and shop!
Nice looking shop Sir.
Our camper got overrun with stink bugs last fall at paint creek. I got some stink bug killer at central center hardware & it did a good job getting rid of them.
I wish I could send pics of a kitchen I did in a vaulted ceiling with 54” cabinets, by far my favorite
Kitchen, anything over a 36" wall cabinet and you'll never use it, but a 42" on the ends looks great.
Loft, using welded aluminum tube railing mounted on floor receiver's with clevis pins and cotter pins, can be removed easily for bringing up pallets.

That's an awesome looking building
Brian, goes without saying, "Happy Wife is a Happy Home"... What ever she wants !!!! Looks great..

Why would you put your washing areas right next to your Service pit?
The wash bay is 100’ wide but I doubt we us 100’ often. We will use the pit much more and it made the most sense on an end of the building. The pit does also have a sump pump
Shower/tub tv and his and hers shower head oh boy 😂 good thing you got the boys clipped 🤣😉
Looks awesome I bet you guys can’t wait for it to be done! 😎👍❤️
In our home we had a large corner triangle tub. Seemed like a nice thing at the time but never hardly ever got used . Perhaps a seating set up in the shower would be used more.
We used to have a seat in our shower and didn’t like it. Hopefully we’ll use the tub like we think we will

The builders came in and actually did that yesterday
Hey Brian we have micro cement in our 4 on suite showers and love it way better than tile stays way cleaner than tile ! your wife is right and she will love it ! nice house by the way ! will ya be moved in for Christmas
Thanks for the feed back your the first who actually has it I’ve heard from
its a big thing in new build homes in Canada were we live ! its way cheaper than tiles ! just do your research and get a recognized company to come and do the job for you lots of information on the web about it ! we are really impressed with the product
Need to throw an old mat in the corner of basement for me when I come and help harvest some day😂😂😂
Black slate for flooring in your bathroom/shower room is really nice,,Micro concrete is hard wearing but very hard to clean and also if not kept dry after you use shower ,It can attract mould,,,Again you can use black slate for the walls as well as the floor...
Nice job 👏
Looks like its gonna be a beautiful home !
Awesome man, would trade any day whit ours, something happening up there in one year, thanks and greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
I have clients to make mockups using cardboard boxes. That way there is a true visual concept.

I don’t know much but I do know this. The house is the woman’s domain. Give her whatever she wants.👍
I 💯 disagree lol
Thanks for the video !
I have the same floor drain. Mine broke the plastic drain part kinda sucked now don't know what to do. Very displeased with it. Mine was cracking like yours noticed it this winter when washing it had cracked and water was going down before the drain where the plastic had broke
I'm glad those damn stink bugs are somewhere other than around my house.
Big cardboard boxes can be used to create the counters, furniture, etc. To make decisions.
Maybe put the lights in the shop on a motion detector and timers, then they will come on when u come in, like a warehouse.
it all looks good....
Nice 👍
You could put an archery range in the basement, or, better yet, a bullet trap and shooting range for hand gun and small caliber rifles!!!
