Northern soul is about expressing YOURSELF with your own moves, feeling the music and interpreting it YOURSELF. NOT dance tutorials. Your version of stomping stepping behind your other foot is actually a nicked move off youtube perfected by Dave Ward at Wigan!!Sorry luv but thats not what the scene is about.. You should know better!

The stomp i teach is one of many, many variations of the stomp and is certainly not a 'nicked ' move from anyone. Every move i teach are my moves, which were recorded from my own dancing style. You really are misguided as to what we do, we teach people who cannot and will not dance at events, they have no confidence, we give them moves so they can adapt the moves to suit their own style. It is very much you who should know better luv, let these people learn the way they choose just as you do. I have no need to copy someone else's moves, I have plenty of my own which are authentic

@@NorthernSoulDanceNSD A lot of the old wigan footage show a tall guy in a black t shirt with P funk written on it.. Thats Dave Ward... It was his signature move to step behind when he stomped. Been a lot of footage of his footwork. Are you charging for your tutorials? Hey I'm 64, regular at Wigan and we just used to watch folk, come home and practice. Did you go Blackpool Wigan 50th?? Full of non soulies, ale everywhere.. So so many all danced like robots, all with the same basic moves. The young kids are bringing fresh moves.. Hats off to them. Nobody gave a toss how you danced back then, or if you danced!

@@kimsutherland977 hi Kim yes I do agree with you, everyone should be able to basically dance how they want, I was a casino regular too and mecca, as kids we learnt by watching the others and adapting the moves to our own style, as older adults its much harder to follow and absorb the moves. The people who I teach just want to be able to get on the dance floor and this is what I help them with. I have been dancing since 8yrs old, was a championship dancer for many years representing England and Scotland over the years and have been a professional dance teacher, choreographer and international adjudicator for over 30 years, I teach loads of different dance styles and this is just a tiny part of my job. The younger ones are creating a different style which hopefully they will carry on. I only teach my style which others can adapt to suit them. Hopefully this fantastic scene will carry on long after we have all gone 😀 xx

@@NorthernSoulDanceNSD I hope they keep the scene going too. I guess no matter how we try, or where we go, we can't quite recreate that magical atmoshere that was Wigan. My ex and his brother both won Wigan dance comp. We had some fab times, I just get a bit miffed with the non soulies and the handbag brigade jumping on the bandwagon. I noticed it massively at Blackpool last month. Getting in the way of folk dancing by standing on the dancefloor, ale on the dance floor 😠 and I just didn't feel the atmoshere, although it was great to catch up with some of my friends from the past.

I learnt by watching the dancefloor and picking moves up that impressed me, if youtube was about back Im sure we would be all over it. I remember being shown some moves outside a pub in Wolverhampton, so whats the difference, dancefloor, car park of a pub, bedroom, youtube or dance class, learn the moves then put your own spin on things, keep going NSD and if they are young then that's even better, get on the dancefloor and make an effort
