  • In 2019 at age 6, Jack demonstrated his learned respect, self-discipline, and technical abilities in Tae Kwon Do after starting at the age of only 2 1/2 in 2015. In February, he received his certification and registration by airmail from the World Taekwondo Federation in Korea, the international federation governing the sport of taekwondo and member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations.
태 = Tae: "Smashing with the foot"
권 = Kwon: "Smashing with the hand"
도 = Do: A philosophical doctrine suggesting "The way of ideal action" or "Following the right path" Often translated as "art," "way," or "path," but is actually all of these in one concept.
To advance from one rank to the next in Taekwondo, students complete promotion tests in which they demonstrate their proficiency in the various aspects of the art before their teacher or a panel of judges. Promotion tests vary from school to school, but may include such elements as the execution of patterns, which combine various techniques in specific sequences; the breaking of boards to demonstrate the ability to use techniques with both power and control; sparring and self-defense to demonstrate the practical application and control of techniques; physical fitness usually with push-ups and sit-ups; and answering questions on terminology, concepts, and history to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the art.
In Kukkiwon-style Taekwondo, there is a poom system in place (품, 品; "pum" using standard Romanization). Practitioners who have not yet reached the age of 15 cannot test for a dan rank. For them, there is a system of four poom grades. After they reach the age of 15, their poom-grade can be changed to the corresponding "dan"-grade. They also cannot test for 4th degree black belt before the age of 19, because they must stay in 3rd degree for at least 4 years.

I know you feel proud of your son and I'm glad he is doing some type of activity at such s young age. But you have to be honest with yourself. Do you really think he is a black belt? Not that he had endured a journey and i hope he continues practicing but I'm sure as a parent you will never take your child to do martial arts if the instructor is 8 or 10 years old. That's because you will consider a black belt some one who is capable.
I don't blame you, i blame the instructor that is allowing a false image by promoting little children as black belts.
I really hope if he continue training you can find him a real martial arts school.
