American productions have much bigger budgets, but they rarely spend it on good storylines and funny actors. Big expensive sets are not what makes a programme enjoyable to watch, seeing the actors having fun themselves is.

well said! if there's something i hate about the show is the stupid poo/pee/vomit scenes. funnily enough, when i pointed this out in a review on IMDB, they didn't accept my review, but apparently stuff like that is ok in a children's TV show.

Because it’s both true historical fact, and little kids think that sort of thing is funny. Believe me, they know their target audience very well. and it may sound gross, but it’s just plain historical fact that medieval Europeans used dung to build and insulate their houses, Roman bathrooms were completely open and poorer classes would sell the shit they were paid to clean up. Charles II really did have his guests use the bathroom anywhere on the floor at his parties. History isn’t clean or sanitary, and the entire point of the show is to reach history as it happened

@@maddiowens3549 you may be right, but they tend to exaggerate things. i hate the fact that they keep showing medieval peasants as filthy. True medieval historians will tell you that it's not the case. They didn't have baths very often, but they washed their face and hands every day, they thought malaria was caused by "bad air" aka nasty smells, so they avoided smelling bad as much as they could. They washed their whites clothes in stale urine, but that was a practice used up to the 18th century, and it was an excellent solution for cleaning. The animal dung was used in building and insulating houses, but it did not peel off the walls as they show. etc

@@naly202 the show touches on the fact that they used stale urine to wash their clothes, if you watched it you’d know that. They didn’t “wash” their faces, they just wiped them with rags. And most everything about this show was heavily researched by a team of historians, fact checking the books that the show was based on, before each episode was written. And again, this shows target audience is school age children, not veteran historians with doctorates
