- So I’m always down to try out new tech, I’m always looking for the best thing out there whether it’s for work or personal use. So when Huawei hit me up about their Huawei P20 Pro smartphone to take it on my travels I was really excited to try it out! Especially after seeing it ranked the #1 of smartphone camera in 2018 on DxOMark for a while. I had this phone for over 3 months and I gotta say that the camera is really good. For photo quality, this phone compares to a DSLR. I have a ton of flexibility when editing because of its RAW format and 40mp sensor.

Hey recently switched to p20pro from iPhone 6s it s a great phone but software is kinda sh it compared to iOS a lots of bug in messanger and Spotify and with notifications.
Hold up sam has like a decent upload schedule. this is legendary.

@w0 k3 I'm sponsored by them so I'm biased, but I honestly think it equals or surpasses the S9 in every category. Most of all is how close it is to stock Android in comparison, integration with Google is far tighter, no need to deal with Bixby etc.

Kinda of crazy how a 3 minute video could convince me how awesome this phone would be. I was looking at my next choices. Like the pixel 2 or note 8. But I might have to go after this!
Indeed, it's one the best looking videos I've seen regarding the phone's camera. Personally have a friend that has it, I would say in auto mode, it tends to oversharpen a bit but there's lots of freedom in Pro mode when you know what you're doing. It also takes shots really quickly. The hand-held night mode and 5x hybrid zoom is definitely unparalleled so far, only downside would be it doesn't have stabilization in 4K. Though I bet the next iteration, the Mate 20 Pro, would solve the stabilization issue with a new processor with that same triple camera setup. The Pixel 2 is certainly great to not have to think much after taking a pic as the software does all the work, but the Note 8 is kind of outdated at this point imo.
If you want a point&shoot phone, this is the best one. If you want good video quality and precise pictures for post-processing, don't buy it. It applies a smooth effect making pictures look like a painting when you zoom. And it's cleary not a video camera :S
I have the Note 8 and I love the Camers! I literally left my DSLR in my pocket now several times.
The raw files are amazing for editing. So if you need the S Pen like I do, I can really recommend the Note 8. If not, you should go for the pixel ;-)
@@DVZM. I personally got a Pixel 2 after sending the P20 Pro back. And I'm really happy with the quality in both photos and videos. No extra AI for "shiny pictures", just clean pictures (except for the blured backgrounds, but it works fine). Who needs 3 lenses ? ^^

Is this a Sammy fanboy I see? Jokes aside, all phones lower resolution to provide that 960 fps slow motion, and current phones can only shoot at that fps for a few seconds only.

So I'm still the only one disliking this phone's camera, for being more accurate, the AI. Even when the AI is disabled, it still applies an over-saturation on sky or greens, no matter the camera app your using. It even does it in video, making sky flickering... I don't understand how others photographers, can't see that...
Spoiler alert: a dslr camera is better than phone cameras :)

When I upgraded from my Nubia Z9 to the Huawei P10 Plus being swayed by the Leica-badge and all, I was a little disappointed. But they've really taken a leap with the P20 Pro.
I managed to shoot the Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights from an airplane in cruise flight... handheld... with the night mode and it did a better job of catching it than my eyes could.
Really impressive stuff. Standalone for video it's not all too great, that gimbal showed off really comes in handy then. But it's probably the best overall package out there.
Also love the fingerprintsensor on the front with which replaces the onscreen menubuttons and the fact it has an IR blaster for remote control.

the IR is also one of the most feature i like from Xiaomi phone... after seeing this, I would saving money to buy p20..

The only issue I have with this phone is that it does not have stabalization for both 4K and 1080p 60 FPS, which is disappointing actually.

40MP on a phone is daft because of the sensor size, the SIZE matters, and you can't get a sensor that big in a phone (now anyways).
Large number of pixels mean nothing if the sensor is so SMALL, as in any phone. *But of course you know this. Great camera for a phone though.*
True2x, but what most people forget to mention on what makes this phone great is that this phone actually does have a bigger sensor compared to most phones cause the P20 Pro has a 1/1.7" sensor size while the Note 9 has a 1/2.55" sensor size, thats what actually makes the camera great. The 40mp is mainly brought up because its simply most people think MORE MEGAPIXELS = BETTER IMAGE and most people I encounter when they get a new phone simply say "I bought this because the saleslady said it has 20 megapixels"

I'm sorry but the quality from it is worse than the pixel 2 and the pixel 3 is right around the corner. I don't hate the phone, I just hate the fact that huawei presents it as the best camera phone and people buy into it just cause it has some tricks. Like really?
In what aspect is it worse? Nothing can beat P20 pros low light capabilities yet!
My take on it is, in a completely raw image I believe that the pixel 2's photos look cleaner and are more appealing, and don't forget the amazing portrait mode. Other than that it really doesn't have anything else going for it, the p20 has so many different modes and features which makes it hard to beat. I'm hoping that the pixel 3 manages to retain the cleanness and clarity that the pixel 2 manages to get while also adding new features to be able to create more diverse shots. If I had to choose one then i would choose the p20 just because of all of its features (not disregarding the great pictures it can take I just prefer the look of the pictures that the pixel 2 gets)
