  • Hey guys🙂,
    Gerbera daisies are a little tricky to grow from seed, but it definitely can be done. Follow these tips for propagating and growing Gerbera daisies from seed in your garden.🌱

    _______________________________________________
    🔷This is the most important tip! Your Gerbera daisy blossom will soon start to look like a dandelion, covered in seeds, but most of those seeds aren’t viable. The seeds look kind of like little brooms, with a hairy brush at one end and the seed at the other. Sort through the seeds, and choose only the ones with a fat, fertilized seed pod.
    🔷Fresh seeds germinate better, so plant the seeds right away.
    🔷Put the sealing soil mix in a glass bottle or transparent cup.Plant the Gerbera daisy seeds with the seed end pointing down, and the little brush part just barely at the top of the soil.
    🔷Keep the seeds moist, but not waterlogged, and above 70° F, with eight hours or more of bright light per day.
    🔷When it’s consistently warm outside, and the Gerbera daisy plants are hardy and growing, move the pots outdoors to a protected spot for a few days to get the young plants used to the breezes and temperature shifts found outside.

    Thanks for this info, i have also tried to grow my gerbera seeds and now they started germinate so after removing the polythene do you placed them under shade or under direct sunlight, in my area right now the day temperature is 35degree and lowest temp is 22 degree.

    • @Kalana_Herath
      @Kalana_Herath  2 года назад +6

      First punch a holes in the polythene. Then gradually enlarge the holes over a period of about a week.Remove the polythene when there are resonablly large holes.. then slowly acclimate the plants to direct sunlight

    Did you put holes in the top? Or completely covered? 😊

    • @rayw6876
      @rayw6876 2 месяца назад

      Add small holes after the 3 weeks. Put a bit more water in, but not too much. Then increase the holes after 1 or 2 weeks if they are not wilting.
      After 4 to 6 weeks of adding holes, then remove the cover completely.
      Don't put in direct sunlight - you have to harden them up.

    • @rayw6876
      @rayw6876 2 месяца назад +1

      Basically, don't use a jar.. if the sides are tapered (like a clear frapucino cup.. or a plant pot) you just turn it upside down to get them out.
      Separate VERY carefully to avoid breaking ANY roots.

    I tried many times for viable seeds but never found one... . How to effectively get them?

    • @Kalana_Herath
      @Kalana_Herath  2 года назад +2

      Sometimes the flowers do not pollinate. If there are viable seeds, they can be clearly identified.

    Sounds like it was made complicated. putting on some glass bottle with a tweezor.

    • @Kalana_Herath

      Sometimes, the seeds rot when sown directly.In my experience this way is more successful because the glass bottle acts as a greenhouse
