      Why is no one commenting on the vacuum powered brake booster and how dangerous that actually is and where is the vacuum being drawn from!? I had an old hilux surf ln130 and that had vacuum powered brake booster fed from the alternator that used some sort of oil pressure switch fed from the engine and once your alternator failed the brakes did too one night my pedal went to the floor and didnt come back I went straight through a fence into an industrial yard and hit a trailer at 80kmph thank the lord for bullbars and thank the lord for cage link fences washed off alot of my speed. I was dumb founded and after investigating and pulling the alternator off and doing research as to why my alternator was leaking oil! That's when an old mechanic in Karratha informed me of the ever so wonderful vacuum powered brake boosters and where my vehicle was drawing vacuum from to feed my brakes. All I could think about was the fact that alternators are one of the most common failures on even newer cars of the era this had happened in.

    I think Reuben just realised who the target market the 70 series truly is for. 😁 It's not for the average motorist, nor even for the 4WD enthusiast, but for farmers, the mining and resources industries, NGOs and fleet operators etc. Where they just want things to work, and work, and work, and work. But as good as it is, I still think it's overpriced. The Toyota Tax is high on this one.

    • @robertwilson1827

      @dirtymuddyweekends  4 месяца назад +2

      It's an interesting perspective, and you raise valid points about the target market for the 70 series Land Cruiser. Indeed, its reputation for reliability and durability has made it a staple in industries like farming, mining, and fleet operations where reliability is paramount. But yes, we also hoped it should have been priced more reasonably. :)

    • @Bradthetruckie
      @Bradthetruckie 4 месяца назад +1

      @@dirtymuddyweekendsive said it for awhile aswell, most 70 reviews are unfair and usually gets compared to irrelevant models. Its a basic truck made just fancy enough to attrect private buyers. Pin it against the mercedes cab chassis G wagon and the 70 becomes a great value, cheap no bullshit truck. I think the G wagon is the only thing that compares to the 70 series.

    When I bought a new 2013 hilux sr extra cab air conditioning was an optional extra because theses vehicles are apparently catered to the man on the land not the man / tradie about town, I’m a plumber so an SR5 was a waste of time considering my love of mud and smelly stuff that would be hard to get out of carpet, it’s sad to see Toyota barely meeting expectations with tech and engine output but honestly while I live in suburbia I love the brand and the reliability , I have had 4 hiluxes 1 hiace and my first car a 75 carona, and with hand on heart not one has let me down mechanically and I’ve covered some klms since 1984 I’m now 57yrs old , I’m not flying the flag for Toyota because they need to step up 100% but the brand has got me there every day and home every night . Toyota may not be the right fit for everyone. Every brand has its strengths and weaknesses, and it's important to find the one that aligns best with your needs and preferences.

    The old school agricultural nature of them is appealing but for the price.... Geez why would anyone buy one for that price. They should be 15k brand new.

      There's a certain charm and ruggedness to them that many people appreciate. However, when it comes to pricing, it's a subjective matter. While some may feel that they should be priced lower (like we do too), others may see the value in the heritage, durability, and reliability that the 79 series offers. Cheers mate!

    Do yourself a favour and this is the direction most people are going, get in an American pick up. They’re here now, they’re big, strong, more powerful, more tow, way more comfortable, more tech… it’s a no brainer….

      They're definitely gaining popularity for those reasons. However, it's essential to consider individual preferences and needs when choosing a vehicle. While American pickups may be the right choice for some, (especially those who are loyal to the brand) others may still prefer the unique charm, reliability, and the heritage of the 79 series Land Cruiser. :)

    why is nobody talking about the reliability problem with the 2.8, how much would a 300,000km 2.8 four cyl go for 2nd hand? the 2.8 is the exact same engine as the hilux i just saw one online going for $48k brand new and the same exact engine in a 79 WITH NO TRAY going for $122,000 WAT? Hello? anyone have a brain or am I the only one going crazy... you are paying $75,000 for some metal in the shape of a 70 series with no tray, tray is extra. Why doesnt Toyota put the same,e engine in every one of their cars and just sell different shapes .. disgusting money grab we are losing our reliability, looks like soon reliable engines will be illegal... why do u think this vehicle is now after years and years returning to japan and other parts of the world. why do u think they haven't made any v8 why is there a 10 year wait list or was. but they can pump put 100k units of 2.8 but not v8 too hard ...

      Toyota's decision-making process with engine options and vehicle availability, it's influenced by various factors such as emissions regulations, market demand, and production capabilities. While it's frustrating when desired vehicles or engine options aren't readily available, manufacturers must navigate complex considerations when developing and distributing their products.

      Hi there, @garyalanretouch. Reuben has a knack for being straightforward, and that's what our customers appreciate about him. He's honest with his opinions on the 79 series because, let's face it, there hasn't been much innovation in that realm. However, Reuben is always thinking of ways to offer improvements for the 79. Reuben LOVES his Landcruisers, he owns several of them. Owners of the 79 series won't get offended; they know the score themselves, but as a lover of the brand, sometimes those short comings of the latest 79 is not a deal breaker. At the end of the day, our goal is to provide the best service possible, no matter the vehicle. Your feedback is always welcome, so feel free to share your thoughts!

    This cars are truly off roads warriors but damn the are uglier that hitting your mum. Why Toyota don’t redesign then they still look like a 4x4 from 40 years ago and for the money 🤷‍♂️

    • @dirtymuddyweekends
      @dirtymuddyweekends  3 месяца назад +1

      Haha, your analogy certainly paints a vivid picture! While the classic design of Toyota 4x4s like the Land Cruiser may not be everyone's cup of tea, it's often praised for its ruggedness and reliability. Redesigning such iconic vehicles is a delicate balance between preserving their heritage and incorporating modern features. Toyota likely sticks with the familiar design to maintain the trust and loyalty of their dedicated fan base. But hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

      Well, it's true that opinions on vehicles can vary widely! :) While some may see the 70 series as overpriced, others value its ruggedness, longevity, and reliability, especially in demanding off-road conditions. Ultimately, the right vehicle for you depends on your individual needs and preferences.

      For sure i love cars but hate car companies toyota is using loopholes to keep selling this outdated piece of shit just for profit. They must make an absolute fortune on these . BHP wont buy them as they are not 5 star crash rated (except for the dualcab ) not sure about the new model tho. And have they fixed the rear track correction issue yet or do the poor punters still have to spend close to 10k to have it done properly?
