Andrew, I love how you call your mom, Mommy.... I'm 72 and still call my mother that. About the bears eating the corn... better the corn than you. One of my friends in Jersey came back to one in her porch eating out of her porch fridge.
You are truly blessed to have your mother at 72
Looks like you could use a break from the rain. Your produce looks good. Take Care Be safe on the farm. Out
Cantaloupe looks so good and well the watermelon looked perfect eating
Great video
I sure hope you have some protection in case you meet that bear. Just in case.
Videos have been amazing! I actually stopped by the farm market today (8/14/23). My family and I were on our way through from Washington DC to new York. You have a amazing market!
I love it when you add educational information to your videos! You’re always entertaining but I learn so much too.
Is this the first season you have grown melons? They look amazing. I just don't recall seeing those harvested in the past. Great video, as always, Andrew.
Is Lauren ok, she seems way more quiet than normal? Hope so, just love your family..all hard working people and I never knew bears got in the corn, just thought aliens and killers..😄 Much love from AZ😎
Bears are omnivores- they eat anything that tastes good.
I live in California, 🙃. Drove accross the San Joaquin Valley this past weekend through the farm lands.Massive fields of tomatoes, grapes, peppers, onion, and super tall corn. There were nut trees and citrus trees as well.
Boy that bear!!😢 I guess they have to fatten themselves up for the winter. Thank you Andrew for all of the info and struggles with the weather. Despite it all your produce looks amazing as always!...i would take some of that sugar baby!!!❤ love you all from Indiana! Loved seeing your Mama!!!
Getting your mom to go out to the fields and help was priceless.
Andrew, you made me laugh at your unintended joke...These fields aren't going to sit bare..."bear"...haha
Some of our farmers here in the Rio Grande Valley TX use a sound device that sounds like a small cannon going off to keep wildlife out of their fields. It's motioned activated and goes off 3-4 times a night, but he has the best melons this year.
You in EL Paso? I live here in El Paso Tx- we hear the Sonic Cannon all the time!😝👍
@@genehasenbuhler2594 I live in Chase, KS. And we just have random fools who set off acetylene cannons for the fun of it and don't seem particularly worried about what time it is. No use calling and complaining about it, they include the city manager and a city councilman and his son.
@@barbarabeagley6650 if you've ever seen a flock of crows tear through a crop field then you'd understand!
@@genehasenbuhler2594 I was born and raised on a farm. I understand that. But the ppl making the noise here don't even have gardens.
We have it here too. I think many farmers use them to ward of critters
I never knew there was a type of brownie I didn't like until I heard you say zucchini brownies and I can just tell I don't like it
They'd be moister and more delicious than regular brownies, 😋.
I am always amazed with your harvesting, and it’s just so satisfying to watch! Love it with those jalapeños are so ready to harvest that they release when they are lifted up.
Your corn harvesting brings back memories for me. If it was too wet to push a wheel barrow down between the rows, we went barefooted and used a big galvanized washtub to put the corn in. You had to get the corn harvested, especially when you had customers waiting for it! : )
Mature cantaloupes falling off the vine when they are ready… that makes for easy harvesting! : )
It is hard to see so much produce being tossed to the ground with rot issues. In the long run though, like you said, its not going to waste, its going back into the soil to feed future plants.
Did you get the same storm that the Broyan’s farm got. I watched their video before yours came up. They got 2” of rain in about 30 minutes and had some storm damage and fields flooded. A tree had even been blown down in their trailer at the farm market.
I just love your family Andrew. Mimi and Grandpa are close to my age, so I can really relate to them. Also, love the Grammy. My Grammy baked the same kind of items as yours does. From the oldest member to the youngest I love them all.
Ditto!
A special shout out to All the Veggie Girl's . Without you Girls . This channel would be lost without you !
Women have always made a big difference in farming. Everybody has a role. Sometimes roles change. The key to success is to be able to realize when and how to adapt. The ladies at this farm do that very well, and the guys appreciate it.
Nice to see the momma out with her boys. Callie is a doll baby 🇺🇸❤️
Lord love Callie. She's getting so much better with her vocalizations!
I like the "Squeenies" you have Andrew, but the "Squeenies" at Sonne Farms I find problematic. Mice were a big problem for me last year, but I got some help from a guy who takes care of the mice at a factory egg farm, he got me set up and within a week I had no more mice!
Callie is so darn adorable! Love her😊
Bears do too much damage. Any way to keep them out of your corn before they destroy more? Cutting for silage right after picking moves the bears into unpicked corn, although the cattle enjoy the silage with whatever half eaten ears come up into the silage. Love those picking sounds! From the comments, I'm not the only one! Some zucchini for the chickens? Here in Oregon, it's 101 degrees all week, so your rain looks pretty GOOD to me. Enjoy it for us Oregonians who need it badly? Those watermelons look great. Wish I had one. Those in supermarkets here are awful. My chickens will eat the rind right down to the outer skin. Yours would probably like some, too.
The boys are all business when Mom is in the field . Great video.
Ugh! That baby is so adorable!!!!! I love her "and girls!" And her "bye-byes!"
So cute....❤
When I was 30 in 1979 my Papaw ( born 1891 ) was in the Hospital on his deathbed and when my Mom asked him if she could get him anything he said " cantelope " from his garden and his favorite picture of my Grandmother from his nightstand. I always thought that was cool and of course I think of both of them whenever I see or smell a cantaloupe.
How is the inside of your home coming? I would love to see how your doing 😅 can we see an update soon
Me too
Andrew, how do you combat the squash vine borers? They kill my zucchini’s every year.
I plant zucchini about every 3 or 4 weeks , fresh plants all summer long. As early plants start to die, newer plants are just coming on. It works for me, might give it a try.
I really appreciate these videos. I’ve always been interested in the intricacies of the farming industry.. please keep the vids coming ..Great stuff !
I am so glad your family is starting to pick Peppers and other vegetables I have been Watching your videos for a very long time
7:20 '...these fields aren't gonna sit...bear'...see what I did there? 😂
Also, Andy saying 'Mommy' was the cutest thing since the last time Callie was on. 😂
Mom is serious about picking dill because it is a big dill! LOL
Just had my tomato a d zucchini cleaned out by a few bucks , we live rural and it’s been extremely hot 🥵 , never had an issue before but the heat and lack of water I am sure are responsible.
why don't you rent a Rock Harvester and the rock it pick up use them around your barn where its so muddy.. Your land will be a ideal to Promote a Rock Harvester
I have wondered the same thing.
We actually purchased one
@@sherryhipp6498 There a company out there that would really help Them, it's looks like it had the Prefect Ground leave the fine stone , And that the rest of them you can sale, The Big one will good for a good Price then, You land give a little extra $$$$$. every Framers needs
I would love to pick veggies with you guys and girls!
seems like that bear likes your corn as much as you guys. don’t fight him/her for it. 😋
I have learned so much about veggies, planting and harvesting. Thank you for sharing.
I’m glad the wholesaler knows where to find the good stuff 😂
Hey Boo Boo, Time to Steal some Sweet Corn 🌽🌽🌽 out at the Och’s Family Farm. 😬👍🙏
Your family working together, caring and looking out for each other is truly wholesome and what everyone wants. You do not to be told to look out what is ready to be harvest. That is true initiative!
Did you lose your cap today? 👨🌾
That's a mess of rain y'all got up there in PA...goodness, and Momma's in the wet field too!
I just love how the family works together. Blessings
can't imagine picking in the rain but, guess ya gotta do it. Love to see your Mom out there working with you.. I'll tell you Andrew, I think you have really cool parents.
Momma was driving that tractor before those boys' were born . Love Momma's shirt!! Andrew that hat is what's making you go bald.
Hi guys I told my great niece, she is 5, that you needed your cap and she took off her cap and was offering it to you. She loves to watch your channel when she is visiting me. I sure hope you guys don't meet those bears.
At least the bears don't take one bite out of the corn and go after another, waste not want not. 🐻🌽
Sending support, love, and kindness from Lexington, Michigan, USA
I've been watching for a while but why do you have so many cows in that one small pen that don't get to go in the pasture?
Just remember black bears make good sausage as long as they haven’t been eating fish
Love the busy time of the year on the farm. This time of year makes the work worth it. Nice harvests.
i know youre not allowed to talk about it with all the whiney Karens out there, but when is bear season?
Yay for rain ! Smart and happy bear reaping the benefits of your tasty crop. ( " these fields won't sit bare "( bear)...ha-ha ! ). Beautiful Dill. Awesome Jalapeños ! Yummy watermelon ...wowza Cantelopes !! Go Grammy with the goodies !!!! Fun.
Nice to see your mom. I think this is the first time she has been in an episode for more than a few seconds.
Andrew ur not very hard worker. Ur dad is such a hard h!rd worker.
I been waiting to see the bell peppers picked! My favorite to watch...please do so soon. HI Callie
Beautiful harvest! Sorry about all the rain. Beautiful cantaloupe.
Andrew get a boom box out in the corn field and play music, believe it or not it keeps the bears away. Does not need to be real loud just the sound seems to keep them away. Put a plastic bag over the radio when it’s wet
You can tell that watermelon was dead ripe when it cracked like that!
Please thank Grandma for feeding 🙏🏻 💜 you all. Nurse Judi in Scottsdale AZ and Eucharistic Minister. ❤❤❤love the channel!❤
I got some recipes for Bear.
Have you boys ever come across any critters while you are all in the fields picking?
All the time
You guys are awesome 😎😎 you have a great parents and their lucky to have great boys and girls like you ❤ God bless you all ❤️🙏🙏💗🎂we love Callie 💝💝😍
Invite the bear in as dinner it tastes like beef.
Sorry about the zucchini. But hey the watermelon looked nice ❤
i am not sure about this zucc spots that make it not good. never seen. i cut out bad parts of fruits or veggies but then use the rest. i understand bot for sale but then there were zucc brownies to be had. zucc breads are nice too.
I used to make zucchini milk in the blender. Pack it in freezer bags, and it keeps good thru the winter.
I used the milk in any recipe: pancakes, cakes, whatever. Good! 😊
Wouldn’t a bearskin rug be nice for your new home?😂
حصاد رائع يارفاق
بالتوفيق ❤
بالتوفيق ❤
Andrew, you all veggie family knowing better you could work all day with rain poncho and rain boots ,with that type of weather worked as drivers, delivery we had poncho's , you can work in and do so much more. Then having your clothes wet 🤔
Hopefully yall get some drier weather soon. It was really good to see grandpa's better half in more of the video today!
..I hear bear meat isn't that bad..once you get through CHEWING ALOT....😅
If I was a bear, the corn field is where I would want to be too.
I love the veggie boys and girls. Love to hear Cali say her name and "and girls." I rewind just to hear her😅
Me too just to hear her once more snd see her smile
🇨🇦
I have said it before, but the “sclrunch” sound, when you harvest the corn, is SO DELIGHTFUL!
Hats off, to you all working in the rain, city slickers have no idea, do they! Great video! Bev in Maine
Thursday will be 106* here in Central TX. 3 1/2 months only 1 inch of rain. Ground Cracken ~ Trees dropping all their leaves. I'm turning GREEN over your rain and Cool conditions.
Your mom looks really young!
Hi to the whole Veggie Boys family, we love you all. Andrew can you please guestimate how much hay by pounds is in your round bales? Here in So. California a nice 110# square bale of alfalfa is $21.00. Thanks, so much!
1970's. If my grandfather when out to his garden and it was sprinkling or even raining, he had these dark green poncho's. He gave me a brand new one, did I feel like a champ. He had an old feed sack and had a strap sewn on it. He'd fill it up with sweet corn and then hoist it over his shoulder and carry it home. I've often wondered why the veggie boys didn't have something other than those baskets to use to harvest some stuff when they can then dump it on a pallet.
Thanks for sharing. It fun to watch and recall when my family faced some of the same problems.
Be careful filming in the corn patch you don't want to film a bear behind that would be embarASSing. Also what's with sniffing your brothers melons? Tell Aunt Becky we are still waiting for her visit to P.E.I. very wet here as well it's a challenge to pick more days then not.
Grandpa keeps telling you to stop eating the profits: listen to him
even though he no longer wears the pants in his family.
Good show
daniel saying mathew and skunk so whats the diffrence ........lol lol you have a great sence of humour mate
😮😮😮👋👋👋👍👍👍
Daniel, the difference is the Skunk probably smells better :-)
Nothing like fresh field treats while harvesting in the rain. I would actually prefer being soaked picking veggies and eating watermelon than sitting at my desk all night. I live vicariously through you guys, and wish I could work on a farm again.
Corn-fed bear...I wonder what Charles Ingalls would think.
Would be great if Grammie gave us her recipe for zucchini brownies ask her Andrew !!
Great video. We get a big kick out of the way Andrew makes all of his mouth expressions.when he talks.
Hi Andrew, is it ok to plant different varieties of corn next to each other. I have heard people in my area say you shouldn’t do it. I am confused because I have seen you guys plant different varieties in your trial patch.
Aunt Becky’s smile is the cherry on the top of your videos. You are all great but she’s my favorite.
Andrew stop eating even vegetables have calories and sugar. control yourself
that zucchini is way too large, it should be harvested everyday. also don't keep dead leaves and rotting fruit near your crop it won't help with the squash bugs eating your plants, compost it all and then use the nice dark compost in your rows before you run the mulch layer through it has helped me a ton.
Treasure the time you have with your mother, there will be a day when she will no longer be with you, but you will have your memories. Pray for us in Texas 31 days no rain.
Wow gorgeous cantaloupe yummy 😊sorry bout the bear problem. ❤️
Learned what silage was after this video. New word to use next time I play scrabble.
Thank God for a wonderful harvest!! ❤️🙏
I’ve noticed the jalapeños with some wrinkles and those with some dark blush areas seem to be hotter.
