I recently left a 5 point calvinist non-denominational leaky dispensational baptist church for an OPC church and could not be happier with where I’m at. I don’t have any intentions of going to a PCUSA but I love and stand by your mission! Be encouraged in the gospel and when things get tough or stressful remember to find your rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Edit: If I were single I’d probably give it a go 😁
Bless my Protestant brethren. Though you may have left the Church, we must all be called to defend the faith. Much love from a Catholic, and God Bless! Laudetur Christus Rex!
Oh give me a break, Left the church? So cringey. Catholics can be so insufferable and pompous. Your church isn’t THE church. Please spare me Matthew 16 and Peter and the rock and blah blah blah. Christs church isn’t in one physical location and it isn’t the Roman Catholic Church. It’s literally the body of believers world wide. Has nothing to do with Rome. Redeemed Zoomer hasn’t left the church, he’s part of the church. He’s redeemed and justified because he believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, just like Abraham. You on the other hand need to repent and trust in Christ and rest in Him, and stop relying ultimately on Rome and the sacraments. Join the real church, rest in Christ.

This is a great video. It's also very good for briefly showing people what is going on with the mainline churches and the liberalism movement
No way two of my favourite Calvinist content makers in one video
I'm actually going to be ordained in the IPC (International Presbyterian Church) this coming Saturday. We're a denomination that's based in the UK but as the name suggests, there are presbyteries throughout other areas. We're in Korea and will be for the next few years but my wife and I do plan on ending up in the US eventually. My plan had always been to transfer my ordination to the PCA or OPC but you've had me reconsider that. I'm wondering though, is it possible to transfer into the PCUSA if it's no secret that you're conservative? For reference, fom what I've heard from your videos our theology is pretty much identical. It's actually very nice to hear someone else speak about the evangelical influence that's affected Reformed sacramentology. Thanks for all you're doing!
The only reason Liberals managed to take over PCUSA by lying and crossing their fingers when swearing to uphold the confessions. There’s nothing wrong with conservatives trying to take it back.
Could you make a video on reliable pastors or Christian role models we should listen to. Kind of like the video on theology book reviews.
Having grown up Pentecostal, I suppose I took on mostly an Arminian philosophy rather than a Calvinist one. Though, I suppose, I slowly came into a sort of hybrid view, if you could call it that. For a while, I have thought along the lines that as long as your philosophy doesn't include blatantly heretical doctrine, you can be saved so long as you truly believe. Arminianism vs Calvinism almost seems to me to be a debate more about the nature of God and the mechanism by which He saves (which our finite human minds simply can't understand nor necesarily infer in any complete way from scripture) rather than about how we as humans can effectively ensure that we are saved. I would be interested in your thoughts on why you are a Calvinist in particular, and whether you think it is necessary for salvation or not.
I’ve been on the fight with what to think about Calvinism and non Calvinism, and finally landed against Calvinism because it really changes who God is concerning His love for us as well as contradicting verses against Calvinism. But one thing is for sure, both Arminianism and Calvinism believe in the main points of God and salvation, so I’d say that you don’t need to pick a side to be saved.
As a Calvinist I do not believe you have to be a Calvinist to be saved. I know many sincere Synergists.
It does concern me when I hear Arminians/synergistics/Provisionists insist that Calvinists have a “different God” and that we “make him the author of sin”. I believe wholeheartedly that our view elevates God and I worry our Arminian brothers “hate” the God they will meet in heaven one day. The God who orchestrated Christ’s crucifixion from the foundation of the world, yet the men responsible are not off the hook although their actions were fore-ordained by God. Same as Joseph and his brothers.
God uses sinful men and their evil for good. The heart of the king is in God’s hands and he turns it wherever he wills. He doesn’t create the evil in man’s heart but he uses it for his purposes.
When we try to fully understand how God’s sovereignty and man’s free will reconcile, we are out of our depth. Scripture teaches both so I accept that even if my finite mind can’t fully comprehend.
Me too! I’m a highschool senior thankfully in a Bible believing Pentecostal church founded during the Jesus People movement, one of the only ones still evangelising and planting churches.
We hold an Arminian view on soteriology, but man, Reformed people are really able to systemise theology and develop new vocabulary around it. I can almost fit Calvinist terms to describe our beliefs.
However our church doesn’t subscribe to any Bible School. Our pastors individually disciple people like Jesus did, which is why we don’t normally use too many complicated terms. We’re proud of being lay ministers - God using common people to save common people as we believe He has always done. This is why Redeemed Zoomer is interesting for me - he’s a lay Presbyterian - as much of an oxymoron as “Redeemed Zoomer” is 😂😂😂
God bless y’all!
@@sarahd5341 In your worldview how is their room for things that God doesn’t create. You say God doesn’t create the evil. Doesn’t that go against the Calvinist view of the decree?
@@authorityfigure1630 I mean God doesn’t “make” a person sin. The person is a sinner and wants to sin. I believe he directs the sin for his greater purposes. Arminians like to say “our God” makes people do bad things. They tend to have a high view of man (semi Pelagian)

what was significantly difficult is that while there was significant resistance in the PCUSA around 2013, there wasn't anyway to legally enforce that. so moral relativism won and became the center. literally a man tried to calmly talk to some of the younger pastors at the council of bishops, and they stonewalled him.

I love your vision man, I pray that you will gain ground for Christ in your church and area. I do have one question, how do you compare what happening in the mainline churches to the problems Luther had with the roman catholic church? Luther tried to reform, but ended up being kicked out right? That, among other things, sparked these great historic denominations. Is it simply that these mainline churches on paper still believe the same things, its just the people running them don't follow what's on the paper? (confessions). Where as the roman catholic church had way deeper problems?

Correct, if someone is "elect" they'll be saved no matter what, but there's no way for us to know who is elect. John Calvin said it's foolish to speculate on who is elect and it will drive us insane. As far as we're concerned, our election is only found in Christ

yeah, the brothers and sisters up there are kind of wacky. Brothers and sisters nonetheless!
@@umrapazai7484 Sure brothers and sisters nonetheless but they conflate american politics with the faith. Sorry, just because you grew up in a part of the world that has specific and narrow constraints of what is liberal/left or conservative/right doesnt mean you should use that language with religion. In some parts of the world "left/leftist" is a favourable world and does absolutely represent, in part, the Christian worldview. Americans have lost their way with all this
@@thelanternexpress9371 I agree. But most people, if you sit down and talk to them with an open mind, just want to live their lives in peace. That's why I say brothers and sisters nonethelss, this right vs left stuff is ***mostly*** moral panic + other divide and conquest tactics to keep people from actually understanding each other. I usually don't blame individuals
I am a fellow Gen-Z Christian, and I appreciate your expression of your thoughts and beliefs. However, I still have different views about why pursuing social justice is seen as the wrong thing to do. According to virtue ethics, the moral subject's actions are moral if the subject has the correct nature. I believe that pursuing social justice is the way to protect minorities' basic rights, and as such, it has the correct nature and is moral and right.
Human beings also get the theory of gender dualism from observation and explanation over the years. However, people will not allow them to challenge different theories. Perhaps according to natural truths, there will indeed be a certain proportion of homosexual and transgender ethnic groups, which are genetically and physiologically coded. Nature determines, if so, why existing truths are more reliable and valid than new potential truths, and people feel entitled to speak for God's plan.
I think that leftism is a stance on moral ethics that is not as simple as just a belief or religion, and the same goes for conservative stances on multiple ethical issues.
When Jesus sat down with the poor and the sinners and preached to them, and recall John 8, he said let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. He showed that those people could be treated and loved the same way we treat and love other human beings, no matter what they are. Even if we do not belong to the groups that need their welfare and living quality secured, we can still help them because we love and care for them, not just for the overall social justice utopia or our own interests and beliefs.
I think Contrapoints' recent video (ruclips.net/video/EmT0i0xG6zg/видео.html) can persuade me in some sense, which explained the J.K. Rowling issue and presented some valid and strong arguments. I think she is taking her time for introspection and developing a great argument, making her a learned and courteous leftist influencer.
yeah you sound like a progressive "Christian", he has many videos on people like you trying to subvert/pervert the faith, its shameful of you. hopefully one day you read your bible more and trust God over man. Jesus argued that one must first remove the plank before going on to remove the speck in someone elses eye, so righteous judgement to help a fellow Christian avoid stumbling blocks is what we are called to do as long as it isnt hypocritical.
enabling gender dysphoria is NOT good, or the Christian goal. God created man and woman, there is no other need to "challenge theories" or whatever. theres also no "issue" with J.K Rowling, shes fine. the rest of your comment is racebaiting American garbage, as minorities in the US have equal "basic rights". or are you talking about some other country, like China or Saudi Arabia? in that case, what exactly can middle to lower class US citizens do to "protect minorities basic rights" from a country across the globe? they have their own issues, the US has like 33% of veterans homeless, plus they commit suicide at higher rates.
nice online activism tho bro!
The conciliation of leftist reformist ethics and christianism is very based indeed.
I’m confused. Is Presbyterianism apart of Calvinism?
Presbyterianism is the most direct continuity of Calvinism. But there are some Baptist that call themselves "Reformed" but they only believe in the five points of Calvinism (TULIP) while there is more to Reformed Teology than that.
@That's Life As you said, Calvinism is a Theological System, so it has much more into it that just a specific soteriology.
Calvinism is more on Soteriology (about salvation). Then Baptists and Presby differ on Baptism, then some also differ on eschatology, but they could be all upholding TULIP
I used two Reformed zoomer vids to help train student leaders at church last week. However, I won’t be submitting them to any Calvinism stuff. 😊Arminius ftw. 😅

@@redeemedzoomer6053 I HATE Calvinism. It isn't real Christianity.
@@UTTPOfficerBennie I get the feeling but let's not go that far, my man. I'm certain John Piper will be way closer to God than us 2 when we die.
@@umrapazai7484 why would God willingly "pass over" certain people? It doesn’t make sense. People out of their own free will make the choice to follow God or not.
@@UTTPOfficerBennie I agree. If you think about it calvinists can't really say "Jesus loves you" to other people because it might be that they are not "elected" making them actually hated by God. It's a complicated subject. That being said, I've met some incredibly loving people that happened to be calvinists, so I think that there's nuance and in general I like to think that any theology beyond "Jesus is God and He resurrected from the dead" is very much secondary and should be treated like so.

Molinism baby!!

The fixation on left vs right politics in christianity takes away from our fixation on christ. Right wing christianity does just as much damage through christian nationalism and its overfocus on particular sins (which pushes away whole parts of society from Gods love) as "leftism." I dont see people leaving their church because of the liberals.
This is no different than liberal churches throwing a rainbow flag on their sign up front. Its a choice that literally distracts from the purpose of Christianity.
I would recommend that you stop saying "right." Specify what you mean instead. Are you saying that universal healthcare and democracy are sin? Are you aware that by saying "right" you imply nationalist christianity (which is heresy)?

I am lesbian who is against gender ideology but I would like to marry my partner one day. What is wrong with that?
it's just not the way things are supposed to be. Not how the natural world is ordered
I'm christian and I believe that if you accept Jesus as your savior, that he has risen from the dead while being ever faithful to your partner, there is nothing wrong with that. The "that's not how things are supposed to be" is a valid argument, but it is inconsistent within the Bible itself. Here is my argument to show it.
---
Here is my view as to why homossexuality is not a sin with theological arguments to support it.
(clarifying what I am NOT supporting: sinning, sexual immorality and the idea that the Bible contradicts itself.)
You see, when people say homosexuality is a sin, they usually say it is because it's in the Bible, but this is exactly the mindset that Jesus reproached when it came to the Pharisees: they tell the people that you must act in the most intricate ways and mustn't in others because of the mosaic law but they themselves don't follow it FULLY (see Matthew 23).
After all, if your argument is that Paul disapproves that women have sexual relations within themselves, for the sake of consistency, you must have the women silent in the churches, must have them not teach or be in positions of authority, and if they have questions, they must only ask them to their husbands at home, as he tells the Corinthians in chapter 10, if I'm not mistaken. Nobody does that, though.
That's exactly the issue with this line of thinking: doing something or not doing something because the law (Bible) tells me so is Phareesianism, and Jesus Christ comes to break this tradition and tell us that no matter how perfectly we try to act in accordance to the law, we will always fail and be evil in the eyes of God, and that salvation can only come through accepting that you will always fail and the only way you can be worthy in the eyes of God is though the Spirit.
It sounds like I'm defending sinning, but that is not what I'm doing at all. Instead I am saying that, as Paul said to the Galatians, true christian ethics are not centered around the end of sinning or not, because all people inevitably sin, but to try to act not in accordance to the law (Bible), but in accordance to the Fruits of the Spirit and against the Flesh (Chapter 6).
After all, again, if you want to go "okay, all sin and you must repent, but the Bible condemns homossexual activity, therefore it is a sin and you must repent from engagin in it", you must also repent from letting women speak in the church. I am also not saying that the Bible contradicts Itself, because I don't believe that. I will go into further detail in a bit (or maybe in another comment because this is alreadly going to be long)
But then how do I explain at all the passages that comdemn homossexuality? First of all, a difference must be made here: I am fundamentally when I say homossexuality I am talking about, for example, a woman that makes an eternal bond, based on love, compassion and companionship with another woman. I am not talking about sexual liberty. This is perhaps the most important aspect of my whole thesis. This being said, I would explain it the same way that Jesus explained His view on divorce at the sermon on the mount: the mosaic law allowed for divorce, but Jesus said that a couple shouldn't divorce because God created Adam and Eve to be one, and what God united man cannot separate. However Jesus does allow divorce when adultery happens, because as he says, God knows that, after sin, man's heart heardened, and God, in all His Mercy and Grace, allowed people to not be perfectly in line with His purposes for us in order for us to go to Heaven. After all, Adam and Eve didn't eat meat (see Gen 1:29) and lived naked. That was part of the purpose of God to us. We disobey it daily, but God gives us the leeway because He knows the nature of our hearts.
And also, fundamentally, true christian ethics is, as Paul says to the Galatians in Chapter 6, not based around circumcision (jews and gentiles discussion, I take it you're familliar with the context), but based on being a New Creature through the Spirit. The New Creature must always strive, as he writes in chapter 5, to act in accordance to the Fruits of the Spirit (love, happiness, peace, etc), and against the Flesh (Spite, Hatred,
If this is true christian ethics, it must follow that acts that are made with true intent of Love behind them, they come from the Spirit, from God. Therefore, I believe that a relationship based on true love, that is patient and kind, that does not boast or envy, with no adultery but the true commitment of two souls, is of the Spirit, therefore not a sin. In a different manner, relationships that are based, fundamentally, on the sexual aspect a.k.a the things that kids are doing nowadays, gay or straight, don't come from the Spirit, but from the Flesh, because the principle that guides that action is not Love, kindness, patience and so on, but lust, hedonism and overall objetification of another creature of God, converting them into things that only exist for the sake of their own individual pleasure, taking no responsability for the other person's whole existence.
"But why did Paul, someone who had the Fruits of the Spirit, condemned homossexuality, then?" For the same reason and a more complex-ish one, that he said the things regarding women being silent and so on. It is for the same reason, for example, that God, in the Old Testament, said to the people of Israel that he who raped a single woman should pay her dad and marry her without a right to divorde (I belive this is Deutoronomy but I'm probably wrong, can't remember now).
You see, Good never changes, because God IS, FUNDAMENTALLY, the notion of God, and God doesn't change, He just is, right? Right. Now what does change is the application of the concept of good.
For example, when you enter a synagogue, you must put on the hat that I forgot the name: that's Respect. When you enter the muslim temple that I also forgot the name in english (Mesquita, in mine), you must take your shoes off. That's Respect. The notion of Respect does not change, but the way it is applied in the world does change.
When it comes to the rape thing, that change of paradigm regarding what one must do when one rapes a single woman, in that context, was good, because in that context, a woman without a husband was nothing: had no religious, political or civil rights. By binding them with the rapits without a possibility of divorce, God is protecting the Israeli women, and that is good.
How, then, we find out if the application of a principle, like Love, in fact comes from Love itself, the principle, the Spirit? Here's my thesis: in the Bible, God NEVER advocates for a change in the paradigm regarding the normalization of a behavior (normalization meaning the positive view of society regarding a behavior, and positive not meaning encouraging but accepting) that would make the quality of life of the individuals of that society worse. In fact, it is objectively the opposite: the changes that God promotes, that come from Jesus as well in the New Testament, are always meant to first of all approximate humankind to Him and second to make the quality of life of the individuals of the societies that God acts on grow. In the context of Paul and withing the context of the church that Paul was writing to, the comdemnation of homossexuality was for the betterment of the individuals there, as well as women being silent and all.
After all, if everyone TRIED to act and think like God intended SINFUL human beings to think and act like, society would be better, right? And the opposite is true, if man thought and acted based on the Flesh society would worsen. But acts and ways of thinking don't apply in every society, so that means that God intended us to think and act differently through history, geography and so on. The ways we deal with this problem I have already presented.
As you've understood by now, one objectively Good action does not mean that said action is Good in all historical, sociological, geographical and culural contexts. The Good doesn't change, but the ways that Good present itself do. And here I arrive at the undisputable, scientific (Google scholar "effects of normalization of gays" or whatever and educate yourself) fact that the normalization of gay people contribute to the growing of quality of lie of individuals of our society.
A bond between a woman and another woman, made and kept day by day through Love, Patience, Kindness and all the good stuff is, in fact, not a sin.
(A parenthesis to explain why incest and polygamy are, in my view, still sin: if incest is normalized, as one should take the society in account in their morality, you would be saying that if little john likes little mary enough he can have sex with her. Introduction of sexual tension within the household cannot be beneficial for society. Plus it is academic consensus that the wives and the children involved in polygamy are more prone to depression and all sorts of psychological problems. Just apply this logic in other behaviors)
This, believe it or not, is only one of the facets of my argument. I could go on for a long time. If you want to add anything, feel free to do so.

Unfortunately, people like me are not many; I'm basically self-taught in theology and my teachers are all orthodox. I wish you strenght in your journey, sister.
@@redeemedzoomer6053 Don't get people away from Christ because of your (not Jesus') view of how things are supposed to be or not. That's wack, my guy.
@@redeemedzoomer6053 why is loving her partner against God’s will? I know you’ll probably quote Lev 18:22, but isn’t it possible that has been misinterpreted? Hell, lots of passages in the Bible condone slavery and as a society we don’t follow that. Why follow this one, possibly misinterpreted POV?
There is only one truth. It is Gods truth, it is nature. You can look at it from a Christian and secular way. Human beings were meant to repopulate, and God told us to be fruitful and multiply. The only natural way to repopulate and to follow God is to be straight. Anything else is to be degenerate. Homosexuality, sexual immorality, fornication, etc all fall into the same category. degeneracy and absence from the law of God/Nature. You don't even need a bible or a congregation to understand this. God created natural and what is natural for human beings is to have a family (man and woman with children born of a mother). Homosexuality, as well as other degeneracy spawns from separation from God and trauma put together. No one is born gay. And where there is sin there is also healing. We live in a society now that fuels these self destructive ideologies and allows humans to fall back into their sin. Social Media, soft core pornography, etc. Try to detox yourself from all of these things that make you feel a strong sexual attraction towards the same sex. for as long as possible. Degeneracy works just like addiction to any substance. You are reminded of it and then you indulge in it. I broke my pornography addiction by deleting all my social media. And I was lucky because I work in all male space so I didn't see immodest women on the daily. Another important step along with repentance is prayer. You are not strong enough to do it on your own. You need Jesus's help. You may also study history, sexual sin has not only been looked down upon by the church historically, but by every group and institution for a reason. And the Groups of people that advocate for sexual sin historically have always been destroyed with time.

I don't understand the need to retake, though. I mean, I may really not understand the patriotism talk because I'm not american but why care so much about your country's historical churches and their power and influence? Our kingdom is not from this earth. Empires go and come but the glory of our King stays. If the church practices a christian theology that is not in accord to your own tradition, is there something necessarily wrong with it? I don't get it.
After all, we're all here because through Christ we're sanctified, and our communion happens because and through Him and Him alone. Our political beliefs shouldn't matter in the face of this fact.
I think it is not about the political ideology, it is about taking back churches from becoming heretical, i.e. straight-up not believing in God.
Paul's letters and the Revelation did it. Why not us?
@@retrictumrectus1010 True. I'm not american and have little (to no) knowledge over these churches but did some actually become THAT heretical?
One of the detriments of conservative evangelicals running away from the liberal mainline churches is that schools, churches, universities, research organizations, etc. all became more liberal. America was founded by protestants and this means that a lot of socially influential organizations were also protestant at its roots. Think of all the politicians, scientists, military officials, entrepreneurs, and celebrities these formerly protestant institutions produced.
It's important to make sure these institutions remain true to the gospel because whether you like it or not, they hold an immense amount of influence on society and people. For example, think of how many believers are being lead astray because of how liberal universities have become. I think ultimately it would be beneficial for the kingdom of heaven to take back these institutions that were originally created for the glory of God. These institutions influence America and America influences the whole world. If Christians during Roman times transform the empire amidst persecution, American Christians can certainly retake mainline churches and institutions.
@@umrapazai7484 Some Western churches that are taken over by leftists allow those who do not believe in Jesus and those who are straight-up atheists to become priests. That's how crazy America and other western countries have become.

Getting tired of Redeemed Zoomer's strawmen about the PCA. I think his attitude of superiority is very unearned. He could benefit from more exposure to PCA - then he might stop spreading silly nonsense about it.
"Closer ties to Reformed Theology"? "Stronger ties to Institutional greatness"? "PCA only uses Westminster"? "Ugly buildings"? "Liberalism started in liberal churches and not in the universities themselves"?
All of these are either false or just close-minded takes about things he prefers.
This guy needs to stop blaming ordinary Christians for wanting to attend a church where they are fed with Word and Sacrament. Of course the conservatives left the institutions where the table was found empty.
I've been to several PCA churches, and am involved in a PCA-affiliated organization. I give them credit where credit is due, which is in many places, but I stand firmly by my assertion that they were wrong to leave.
Joining committees will not show you the same things as congregational membership would. You might have to join those churches across regions and years to see the breadth of worship expression in the PCA.
Please let me caution you about generalizing the "other side" as you do - especially a unearned posture of superiority. Even if you were talking about Anglican, Baptists, and Catholics, I would expect more generosity from a brother in Christ. This happened in your interview with Ortlund as well.
I like your mission and your channel, but if you continue with a superior-than-thou attitude towards PCA or Evangelicals more broadly, you will fail to win them over to your cause entirely. What would honestly be a big bummer.
christian leftist here! we're few, but we certainly exist.
There certainly are the "heretic!" steriotype in every group, tho. Like, if you're deep enough, people will seriously cancel you if you think Ichigo could beat Naruto or something. Doesn't mean every group is a religion. But at the end of the day most of us normies just want peaceful lives.

so, I'm genuinely curious, because I know being Leftist doesn't make you a heretic. But I often see a correlation. Do you believe:
1. That Jesus is truly God?
2. That Jesus literally and physically rose from the dead?
@@redeemedzoomer6053 A big and ressounding YES TO BOTH!!! Let it be known throughout all the kingdoms of the world!!
I do find, within my experience, that most leftists that aren't atheists tend to agree with those; they just lack solid theology. Like, christianity is the overwhelming religion of the poor and the black folk (tends to align with the left) in my country; I think the political ideology entering the theology sphere is just a big misunderstanding and that people actually share common grounds on a lot of stuff and if we engage in conversation with the "other side" with as good faith as possible we'll see just that.
(I do believe, however, that people from other religions like muslims and jews and people from uncontacted tribes CAN be saved by the mercy of Jesus. That's where, I believe, our theologies may start to diverge)
Mixing political believes with your faith is very dangerous and ignorant
That's the point. Lots of churches stopped believing in the essentials of Christianity and became liberal (in theology). This denial of basic Christian principles opened doors for ideologies to permeate the church and remove the divine aspects from it. That's how lesbian priests and gay " " "marriage" " " in the church became a thing.
When it comes to political beliefs, those should never oppose your faith. They don't have to be mixed, but they must be aligned. For instance, it doesn't make sense to be a christian and support abortion (child sacrifice) and feminism (perversion).
@@driver34579 why do you want to genocide gay people?
