A living, breathing, indestructible nuclear-weapon. Destined to walk to Earth forever. He can't be destroyed. He can't be harmed. He can only be "survived" like any natural-disaster. Initially seeing this trailer from the San Diego Comic-Con I HOPED would take Godzilla back to his roots. Gojira (1954,) Godzilla 1985: The Legend Is Reborn, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991,) and GMK (2001) all had the similar feel to them. Godzilla (2014) was kind of a let down for me. They made him into Earth's "protector" or something to that effect. It took all the seriousness away for me. It was LEAGUES better than that 1998 movie from Sony/Tri-Star, but still kinda missed the mark. Godzilla: KOTM was lit though.
To everyone in the comments who was disappointed with the 2014 Godzilla movie after watching amazing trailers like these that suggested an apocalyptic horror film, watch SHIN Godzilla if you haven't already. @Doug D Well the 2nd film's trailer doesn't look cheesy or cartoon. The director confirm it's the same tone as the 2014 film. But a full blown apocalypse.
@Doug D Oh shut the fuck up, at least the new director has passion for the franchise and knows what the fans want which is to honor Toho films a whole, and WTF do you mean by cheesy and cartoony? Are you fucking dumb? The trailers looks apocalyptic and very very dark in tone while respecting the source material. It's obvious that you don't understand nor isn't a fan of the franchise to know why everyone is having hopes for this next film, so please get the fuck off anything that has to do with Godzilla and never come back again unless you can learn to appreciate the franchise.
This would be amazing A Apocalyptic monsters movie with a Solitude and dark dramatic ambianc, and who Godzi is a Threat for the humanity......just imagine......this would be awesome......but.....they don't do that
I just saw this again after years of watching godzilla 2014 and it just made me realize how disappointing it was. This trailer is magnificent, the tone is dark and focuses on the destruction left behind. Just look at the train scene with all those people lying there dead. Why didn’t they stick to this. What we got was a boring ass human story with 10 minutes of Godzilla. FUCK man shit like this makes me want to become a movie director and give fans the movie they actually want.
This trailer indicated a completely different story and tone for the movie. The images, music, and speech all imply horror, true horror. Decimated buildings, dead bodies on the ground near the demolished train, a haze of dust filling the air from a battle, an implied silence during the scene. This was meant to be an apocalyptic scenario of true terror and death. We received none of this with the movie. They sanitized it, repackaged it, and remade it into a cookie cutter monster vs. monster popcorn movie. Such a disappointment......
Back in 2013 I was just sitting on my couch and then I heard the most faint Godzilla “brrrrrrr”. I think they were sound testing and made it too loud that it went over to Asia
The 2014 movie was fine and all, but it could have been more better if they made godzilla go back to his early dark routes like in 1954 (for the 2nd time) from the way this was teased
For anyone who still cares, that centipede creature was just a place holder for the time. It was just to show that Godzilla wouldn't be the only monster and that he would have an opponent. Also, if i remember correctly, this teaser was mainly for the WB executives to get them to green lit the project. It was all just to hype it up. Some of the footage does get reused tho, like the dead people and derailed train are I'm KOTM on one of the screens. And the shoot of the building with the whole is in the first Godzilla. Don't know if this is at all true either, but I remember there being a post or article somewhere saying that the centipede creature is a Muto, in larva stage. But I don't believe that as we see them as babies in Godzilla.
Ever since I first saw this when it first leaked I have wanted to see this movie! I still do! Give us that "Return of Godzilla" Reboot! Dark, haunting death with a roar!
From been the destroyer to be the hero? This comic con trailer did not represent the actual godzilla 2014 movie AT ALL! This was clearly a "bait-and-switch" move, smh... This trailer is more like a "shin godzilla" representation and not a 2014 godzilla representation
yes, this really gave the impression that Godzilla wasn't really a good guy....he was an antihero type. The the 2014 film was hinting that and had some segments to show that he is on nobody's side but it's overall tone is in a lesser degree than this beauty.
It would have been better if Vishnu (multi legged) would have a long cameo in the movie Vishnu busts out of the ground then attacks the city at the end of the movie And we go to zoom speed to Godzilla and he roars on black screen That's how it should've ended
Godzilla looks so Much cooler in the daytime tbh idk why these directors think he looks cooler at night. During the right circumstances, sure, but this Godzilla is more of an action oriented creature, and would be much cooler to be able to SEE doing things in daylight or afternoon. King of the Monsters was cool but we still only ever saw Godzilla at night :/
I think it's to show the glowing spine spectacle that is his special moment clearly. But in daytime he would be cool to, like in the night they make him abiguous to make it mystifying and scary. But they can make him not shown at broad daylight by the dust, the same effect as darkness, to make him terrifying.
in my opinion CGI looks pretty blend in with night, looking at Pacific Rim (the first one) and the 2014 Godzilla, they used environmental effects to blend in the cgi with it. works pretty well in the first Jurassic Park with the T Rex on the rain, to make the audience feel as if that these giant animals are there and followed the real laws of physics
@@ivanorais9284 Yeah, KotM went a little overboard and maybe a little too fast on the scenes. Film's almost three hours, I'm still bother that in some scenes there was no weight or scale, but it wasn't as worst as Pacific Rim 2. Godzilla running didn't bother me because in his body language he's pissed off at Ghidorah. But Ghidorah taking off and landing were too fast, besides his arrival in Boston. Godzilla and Ghidorah fighting in the ocean, Mothra stepping out of her cocoon didn't shake the surface. Like those lack motion, speed, weight, and shakes.
SHOWTIME 21 Don’t forget about the shot with the nearly bisected skyscraper (Which both that and the shot of a flattened train with many bodies strewn about was also shown in the Godzilla 2014 Official Teaser Trailer), in which in the film, the MUTO 3/BosMUTO was seen through it.
As much as i love the other 2 The 1st one and skull island were best atmosphere wise and the trailer for the 2nd one They were almost lovecraftian in the way the monsters were handled There was no humans suddenly are advanced or shit like that or humans and monsters interact in any kinda kitschy Hollywood meaningful way (except kong but that’s fair id say.) or anything too mythological in its approach It was just big intelligent but aggressive animals causing havok in deity like primordial fights I think if the other 2 were more like the first one it could be even better than what we got The 1st one really invoked the fear of the unkown and mysteries of our world

Yeah kotm is so underrated
Godzilla 2014 my best movie

When Godzilla first roars, I get chills. That shows how much cooler the tone and atmosphere could of been then what we got
Still one of the greatest teasers ever.
To everyone in the comments who was disappointed with the 2014 Godzilla movie after watching amazing trailers like these that suggested an apocalyptic horror film, watch SHIN Godzilla if you haven't already.
That movie is A LOT closer to what we were promised in these trailers, and I was not disappointed one bit...
I liked shin Godzilla but it was really boring unlike Godzilla 2014

I Absolutely love this roar way better than the actual movie. The roar from the movie has that goofy tone, while this roar in the teaser is just terrifying
What? It's the same roar though, it even has that weird sound effect after he roars like in the movies.

I don't watch the 1954 film :(
pray to God the 2nd movie will have this atmosphere... chilling
Nah
Nope
We've had 2 trailers already. If you're dissapointed it's on you. Just saying
This would be amazing
A Apocalyptic monsters movie with a Solitude and dark dramatic ambianc, and who Godzi is a Threat for the humanity......just imagine......this would be awesome......but.....they don't do that
I hope King of Monsters is more like this trailer and less like the actual 2014 movie.

I’m just going to be honest, I don’t think you can make a better trailer for Godzilla. Really wish this was the movie we got.
+messyhero
Maybe "too dark" to see. People was expecting the Military vs Godzilla, and it never happened. And Shin Gojira did it.
The version we got wasn’t disappointing at all in my opinion. King of the monsters will be even better.
@@Innersanctum_ disappointing in delivery of what was promised in the trailers. And nothing like this trailer.

I've been looking all over for this trailer. Thank you, dude.
I came from the Godzilla king of the monsters movie for 0:16 !

Thats true, allmost every scenes here aparence in the movie :0 7 years before
After watching Godzilla KOTM......at 0:29 Isn’t that the hole in the building where we saw the 3rd Muto in KOTM?
Yes, Kotm used some if not all of the scenes in this teaser, they only added the monsters in them
Bro imagine if godzilla 2014 was rated R holy fuck
This still gives me goosebumps!! I love this trailer so much!!!
…& THEN MICHAEL DOUGHERTY RUINED IT ALL
J.Robert Oppenheimer
That trailer looks better than movie
We need more dark depressing Godzilla movies
If the whole monsterverse had this tone it would be even better!! Where titans are actually terrifying
0:35 if legendary gets to be able to make more movies I feel like this monster should be in a future movie
What's the name of this creature. I've always wanted to know
A y Vishnu may be the name, still unconfirmed.
Becker289 | I doubt Vishnu, since that’s a Hindu god. They only used the audio as a callback to atomic bombs.
Gojira 2054 Vishnu, Giant arms multi arms form, it said..... Now i've become death from destroyer of worlds....
I remember when I first saw this I literally screamed.
This was the best teaser I've ever seen in any media.
It would have been better if Vishnu (multi legged) would have a long cameo in the movie
Vishnu busts out of the ground then attacks the city at the end of the movie
And we go to zoom speed to Godzilla and he roars on black screen
That's how it should've ended
This thing isn't named Vishnu damnit that's a Hindu god
Man Why Do I Love This
SCENE!0:58
This is so nostalgic. I always thought that this trailer was completely lost!
And with this, Godzilla's overseas empire was officially born! 😃
Godzilla looks so
Much cooler in the daytime tbh idk why these directors think he looks cooler at night. During the right circumstances, sure, but this Godzilla is more of an action oriented creature, and would be much cooler
to be able to SEE doing things in daylight or afternoon.
If anyone noticed some of these shots were reused in King of the Monsters
I did and it such a nice throwback!
Hell yeah. The footage of the city destroyed and the train with the bodies were used. I caught it in my first viewing right away.
As much as i love the other 2
The 1st one and skull island were best atmosphere wise and the trailer for the 2nd one
They were almost lovecraftian in the way the monsters were handled
There was no humans suddenly are advanced or shit like that or humans and monsters interact in any kinda kitschy Hollywood meaningful way (except kong but that’s fair id say.) or anything too mythological in its approach
It was just big intelligent but aggressive animals causing havok in deity like primordial fights
I think if the other 2 were more like the first one it could be even better than what we got
The 1st one really invoked the fear of the unkown and mysteries of our world
Its May 2019 and I am back here. Awaiting for the Return of the REAL KING
You gotta wait for that next Japanese Godzilla still a little longer 😁
Honestly while the movie was awesome this trailer is not a good representation of what you wound up getting. The actual movie was nowhere near this grim.
