I have to agree. Very few of these are actual defeats. Him fighting space Godzilla is a victory. Him being carried into the ocean by Mecha King Ghidorah and later on Battra and Mothra aren't really defeats, just him being taken away from the city. His meltdown isn't a defeat either, Destoroyah never beat Godzilla. He was nearly killed when Godzilla first broke him apart and then the second time was retreating before he was shot down. Godzillas meltdown was due to the energy he absorbed, not that fight so that isn't a defeat. Godzilla also survives the black hole weapon

Toho announced, officially, the Kaiju from Godzilla 1998 is still copyrighted as Godzilla. He is still considered Godzilla for the purpose of that movie and, I believe, the animated series that followed suit (I could be wrong on THAT part). For all OTHER media, however, he is renamed Zilla.

@@zacharylocke5512 A lot of people believe that the monster from Roland Emerich's 1998 Godzilla film was renamed "Zilla" when Toho got the rights back from Tristar, due to him being named Zilla in Godzilla Final Wars and in the comics.
However, Toho announced that they had NOT done so. For all intents and purposes, the monster from Godzilla 98, is still named Godzilla. I believe the same holds true for the animated series that followed the film, despite that being the same monster featured in Final Wars and all of the comics.
@Giant Monsters and Beyond I actually feel bad for Zilla. I like to watch Godzilla 98 as a case of mistaken identity caused by PTSD.

RESTINPEACE Ok you got a lot wrong here. Godzilla didn’t die in GvsMG2. That was debunked on numerous sources due to Toho’s supplimental material confirming he was still alive. He was only paralyzed. Also Junior didn’t explode and the fall didn’t kill him. It was the blast from Destoroyah’s oxygen destroyer beam that killed him. The a mere fall can’t kill Junior. Let alone Godzilla. Cuz of their regeneration factor.
Also in vs Megaguirus it’s confirmed he destroyed the black hole and was merely burried underneath the earth from the explosion. I mean the after credits scene proves it. Before anyone says it, Godzilla was not Dead in 1993. He was paralyzed and could not move, for the moment. Had he had more time, he would have repaired that brain without Fire Rodan sacrificing himself. The only way to Kill Godzilla, is atomization. He will regenerate any other way.
As it stands, Godzilla has only permanently "died" 2 times in franchise history. In Gojira, and Godzilla vs Destoroyah. Only other times he's Died would be GMK.
That's so fucking wrong. He was killed. You clearly see the brain was too messed up to the point where his regeneration was useless and wasn't working. He died. Rodan's revival made him gain back his regeneration powers.

He has regenerated severe damage before, like when Destoroyah cut him in two, yet he did not fall apart, because his healing factor is that potent. G Cells are more powerful than you give them credit for. Godzilla did not die. No amount of disagreeing is going to change a fact. Or are you gonna say that he could be killed by being shot with coagulant in his armpit? You can insult me, get mad at me, and pout all you want. Not to be that guy..but wasn't Godzilla technically "subdued" at the end of Godzilla vs. Biollante? The combined might of the ANE Bacteria and Biollante made Godzilla weak so he retreated to the sea. MIki Saegusa even mentions, in Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, that Godzilla had been resting since his fight with Biollante.

Godzilla didn’t lose to Kong. Tomoyuki Tanaka changed the outcome in his book that was published in 1984 and reissued in 1996.
It was a draw. Plus the ending was to ambiguous for Kong to be declared the winner.

In a near exact same fight scene with King Ghidorah, they both fell into the water and King Ghidorah flies away and everyone said he lost to Godzilla. Kong did the same thing (even though Gorillas can't swim). I mean he was out classed by Godzilla throughout the movie, when Godzilla first hit him with his atomic breath Kong was like...Nope I am not touching that.

It does, every Shōwa movie is connected to each other. Chronologically, the last Shōwa movie was DAM, since it took place in 1999. Zone Fighter, and the Mothra, Rodan, Space Amoeba, War of Gargantuas and Frankestein vs Baragon are also canon
