One small correction, the Austrians were not late in the game with the M75, as it was an update of the prexisting M58 model, which essentially had an identical shell but with a different liner, one with a Riddel-type suspension as seen in the original US M1. Obviously that one was in service from the late 1950s onward, supplementing actual US M1s that had been contributed to the rebooting of the Bundesheer. There are lots of interesting detail variants of both helmets - a full set would take a six-foot or more shelf.
I have this helmet, with liner, but liner is too small, so Im able to get M1 helmet that fits me, but will M1 (MIL TEC repro) liner fit into M75 dated 85?
@@DevinK I don't know what to do, I have 53-55 in almost mint condition, but it's to small for me, and where I live, there is no market for it, so I'm trying everything out to find liner that fits me.
Recently acquired one of these. Have two issues. Its too small for my head, is there anything I can do to make it fit better or do I require a larger sized liner? Also, how to I make the liner retain in the shell? Bar the chin strap there is nothing keeping the liner in place, so it falls out if I don't physically hold it in place. Is this normal?
You will need a larger size liner and normally there is a net that you pinch between the shell and liner to create friction to hold the liner in and most soldier used double sized tape to hold it in as well but other then that just the liner chinstrap was used and yeah they fall out because of the plastic liner.
K e y † o n, American Crusader they aren’t to bad on price they can be found but the market has dried up quite a bit and I often see them miss labeled but the price is really going to determine where it’s shipping from as these are rather large and heavy
Devin Krueger I found one in an antique store yesterday for $55, but they’re barely on the market as you said so I have no clue on the actual retail value
The Histoadian theya rent quite the same size and they don’t have the same chinstrap and they are a different color and finish m. So no the only thing they have in common is a similar shape
Nice helmet, thank you It's interesting. The same year Austria adopted a M1 clone, a new M75 uniform was adopted (Kampfanzug M75). It was a copy, with some différences, of the US M65 Field Jacket. The Bundesheer went full "American" in 1975 ! The Austian Army did it once again in 2003, but this time they went "full french". The helmet was the MSA/Gallet SPECTRA (a mix of French /Canadian/Danish version). The uniform ( Kampfanzug 03) had the same cut as the French F2 uniform, with some difference. Regards

Not sure a lot of different m1 shells from all the European countries are differently sized from the m1 because they had different stamping machines.

@@nikolaapatin figure out your head size first then go on ebay and get a m75 liner in your size.

K e y † o n, American Crusader that’s pretty fair if it’s in decent condition
Got one the other day for 35 Canadian, didnt have a liner but had a net. Would these work well for US WW2 reenacting with a replica liner?
