  • Hey everyone! In this video, I did a live interview on Instagram with PJ Kris Tomes (Instructor Supervisor of SW Prep), and Special Warfare Prep Coaches Mike Fisher, Dave Harrigan, Joe Hook, and Daniel Bell. These impressive coaches are experts in swimming, strength & conditioning, running, and rucking. This is a long video, but there is a lot of great info!
    I am so grateful these guys took the time out of their schedule, especially on the weekend to chat with me, and ultimately give out really solid advice to potential SOF candidates. Thanks for everything you guys do!
    Listen to what these guys say, and implement these things into your training. The break down the deficiencies they see, and how to overcome many of them before getting to SW Prep. They also give out some additional resources and their IG handles if you have any questions.

    Can’t thank you enough for the videos and insight helping out aspiring cones to reach their goals of becoming a PJ. Leaving for BMT on a PJ contract on Nov. 6th. Hope to meet you one day down there in SA and thank you in person. Videos and interviews have really helped me immensely in getting prepared and having a better understanding of what to expect from the start.

    I'm Loving this information realizing why I did so bad, personally I believe, at my first attempt at PJ school. From coming out of basic with the BMT Bug 🐛 Malnutrition and sleep deprivation and then I broke my foot 2 weeks into indoctrination
    Mentally I was Fucked and physically I was Destroyed. I wasn't realizing the toughness of the course. I could Run a 5 min Mile... but not every mile for 5 miles. That was an eye opener for me. You Really gotta work on your weaknesses and do the plus 2 at the end of every set.

    Hi quick question, my recruiter said that having hypertension disqualify me from BMT, I had it as a kid and it is just genetics. i currently take medication to control it. Is there any way around it. I really want to be a PJ or at least have the chance to try to be a PJ.

    Hey, I have a question: I'm a powerlifter and have switched to a bro split type workout plan, what is the best way to prepare for TACP selection? Should it be calisthenics and running or stay with the bro split style training. I'm lost trying to prepare for the pipeline. Thank you in advance.

    @How To Be A PJ Mr. Silva, What sort of work outs and running should I focus on? I'm currently army aviation and will be making the transfer happen around April next year maybe earlier. Also you trained my brother and wanted to thank you for that.
    My 25m underwaters are awesome. I did both with ease and did full length plush another half of the 25m pool and only 30 second rest between both.
    My 500m I did in 9:27. Rough but I'm pretty good in water. Very comfortable in it.
    Run is at 12 minutes for the 1.5 mile so far. Working on that the best I can. Been chipping away at it.
    Pullups I'm at roughly 10-15.
    Sit ups I'm at 60-65
    Push ups I'm at 60-65 as well.
    Running is my weak point at this moment but I'm giving it all I got to get where I need to be and want to be.
    Thank you

      it sounds like you just need to tweak your run and cals a little bit. I would recommend running 3-4 times a week varying up your training with hill work, interval sprints, LSD runs, and a couple test 1.5 mi runs. In between those run days, I would do swimming, rowing, or some other alternate cardio exercises

    Hey have you heard about SWOT switching to SR? and do you know any information about Pj and SR pipeline being the same?

    • @tyler1530
      @tyler1530 4 года назад

      Aaron Jackson Late response, but their pipeline is mostly similar. Prep, Assessment and selection, pre dive, dive, jump, free fall, all of that. The difference lays in the actual job training. PJ candidates go down a more medical pipeline while SR candidates go down their own (I’ve heard there’s sniper school and some other things involving recon and such).

    I have a Question. What is the difference between CRO and PJ? currently in the Air Force ROTC and want to be a CRO, but if it is a big difference, then i am not sure what to do

    • @user-eg4jx5em6v
      @user-eg4jx5em6v 6 лет назад +6

      CRO=Officer, PJ=Enlisted. Take 5 minutes to Google more info

    • @mup8661
      @mup8661 5 лет назад

      From what I've read. CROs are the officers so they lead, which means they aren't always in the thick of it or attending medic. They have some of the medical capabilities of a PJ, but they focus more on directing the traffic and troops. If thats what your into DOO ITT BROO!

    Hey brian i love your videos and the info you provide. I plan on buying your course for workouts and such AND to attend but for right now i don’t have the money. I’ve started swimming and working on techniques and conditioning but i can’t seem to improve my conditioning in my freestyle by very much. I know its my breathing as i can run 2 miles in under 10 minutes and strong to boot but i’m completely gassed after 50m. I know you’re a busy guy and i don’t expect a response but if you have the time i’d love a quick response on drills or workouts to improve my conditioning. Thanks again!

      Hey man sounds like you dont come from a swimming background. Im the same bro no worries. I self taught myself to swim and been putting in alot of time in the pool. I go 4-5days a week but thats just me. I went from swimming 25m to 125m in one go. So im improving gradually. I think you just gotta put in the laps in the pool bro and maybe you can incorporate interval sprints in the pool. For instance i usually kick 300m for warmup then 100m swim easy. Then for the workout I Swim 50m and give it 95% of effort and rest 30s. Repeat 5 times. Then cool down with 200m easy swim. Try adding in that to your routine in the pool sometime. If you dont cheat yourself and do it right you should feel pretty winded but remember what Coach Fischer said" control that breathing nice and calm" it'll help you feel less tense when your tired. Hope this somewhat helps lol

    • @HowToBeAPJ
      @HowToBeAPJ  6 лет назад +1

      One of the things I did to learn was to just talk to the older people at the pool I was swimming at and told them what I was training for. Someone is bound to help you, it sounds like its all technique for you, if you can run that fast. If you can, try to video yourself so you can see what you look like and match that up against some youtube videos.

    • @eliharmon5467

      You don't do this for the money

    • @victorvillari6136
      @victorvillari6136 5 лет назад +3

      Depends. If you're looking to make a lot of money, there are literally hundred's of different profession's that'll pay more and require significantly less effort. If you want to pursue Pararescue, you do not do it for the money. Not that PJ's don't get paid a livable wage or anything, but no, you don't pursue something like Pararescue for money.
