    Masterfully done, Sir!! Most logical breakdown of a wiring diagram I have ever seen or heard.

    Never went DYI on my car and this video helped troubleshoot the switch and introduce me on eletronics, i got a low beam problem on my 01 EX CIVIC and i have continuity on the setting for low beam so switch discarded i guess..
    Thank you and god bless.
    Greetings from Brazil.

    This is an amazing vid! I'm not sure if this is my issue but the instruction was so simple. direct, informative, educational, & fascinating I couldn't stop watching! I've watched several these before but none explained as well as yours. You could be teaching electrical engineering or maybe you do! Brilliant!

    Interesting video! Great job analyzing the combo switch! My issue isn't just the switch, its the white connector that it plugs into as well. I don't know if my son spilled something on his steering wheel but the while plug basically burnt up in one spot which prevented the low lights from working yet the high beams still worked. After searching I found a replacement white plug from Ebay that stated it was for the combination turn signal/headlamp switch. Got the two parts and although they fit the wire colors don't match entirely. There are 9 wires for both sides but again, a couple colors are off. I was just going to cut the wires from the white connector and just match wires up as far as placement goes but then there's two odd wires that are in different locations. Anyway, guess I"m venting because I'm kinda stuck on what to do next. Just match up what I can then play with the last two? That could blow a fuse or two I"m thinking. I also don't know if I should try to find another white connector, but I don't know if it exists. Honda said they no longer carry parts like that for that year car so there's that too. Anyway, thanks for the video, learned a lot about how those things worked!

      Don't blame your son! This is a common problem with the Honda Civics of the time. In the US these were recalled to fix the issue. Google for more information.

    Hello ,I have the same problem with my low beams. I have Honda Element 05. Turned out the problem is not from the switch. I changed it with brand new and still have the issue. I put back the old one. Did a multimeter test ,they both have the same measurements. It's not from the switch. When I turn on the low beams the 3 pins for the headlights have power ! When the high beams are on I have 2 pins with power and 1 ground. Friend told me this is from a bad relay. I couldn't find my low beam relay onto my Element. I researched and found that there is one under the stearing wheel , somewhere on the left side. Problem is I don't have any relays on my Honda ,there !
    I NEED HELP if it's possible !!!
    THANK YOU MUCH in advance !!!!!!!!!!

    I have a Toyota and I switched the fuses, relay, bulbs and the switch and still no low beams. Worried it's the harness. Going to watch this a few times to see if it helps me learn more

      If you have not already, try and google search a diagram for the lights on your exact year and model. The fact that you have any lights at all, like high beam, and parking lights would allow you to rule out a lot of things, once you see how the circuit works. If you are not familiar with wiring diagrams or schematics, maybe you have a friend who can look at the diagram and based on your symptoms, point you in the right direction.

    I got a left low beam headlight that doesn't work right works fine, and both can do high beam, just this damn left one idk what the deal is I changed the fuse, but I think it just might be the headlight relay idk

    Great video. I have a similar problem with my 2001 Honda Civic door. I’m trying to find out why my lights won’t turn on in winter the lights work but high beams won’t work and the light in the dash. The lights. Work in the summer to maybe I can get some help

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  2 года назад +1

      It could be the switch I replaced in this video but the unusual thing about your problem is the winter comment. Makes me think it is different in colder weather. So maybe its a bad relay. There are 2 relays for the headlights under the hood. They are more likely to be affected by the cold. Its just a theory but I'd start there.

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  2 года назад

      @@wr8127 I looked at the diagram again and based on the way it works, if the relays were the issue, I do not think you would have high or low beam. I am leaning towards it being the switch I replaced in the column since it is responsible for selecting high or low beam.

    Just an update from my comment below: I guesses right on the wire placements and got everything to work! Now, what's going to go next on this 2003 Pilot with 217,000 mile care?!

    • @stevewatr
      @stevewatr  Год назад

      Don't know where you live but rust is what's killed our much loved 2007 with much lower mileage. Unibody rotted where rear suspension components attach to under the body. Outer body was still in great shape. Wish we had done an undercarriage rust protection treatment early on. Would have saved that car.

    • @ajohnson6416
      @ajohnson6416 Год назад

      @@stevewatr , sorry to hear that about your Honda. I live in NJ near the shore so there's definitely rust on the frame. Also wish I had done more undercarriage washes but can do nothing about it now. I know I'm buying time but I'm just hoping to get 50,000 or so more miles out of it. Had a timing belt put on it 10,000 miles ago so we're hoping to get our moneys worth because of that. .

      The switch? Did you remove the 2 screws? Then you need to remove the plug and then pry up gently on a clip then slide it out
