  • Soundgas is always an interesting stand to visit at shows (they've been responsible for a good few holes in wallets, as we can personally attest too ;-)
They have a knack of sourcing, and often rejuvenating, rare vintage kit, and that has given them so much insight and expertise that they've branched out into manufacturing their own gear too.
Tony gave us a quick spin thrugh their journey from restoring classic equipment like the Grampian Type 636, which was famously used by Lee Scratch Perry and Pete Townsend, to developing new products such as the LFO Mo - a modulation device that helps transition non-modular synths into modular territory. He also talked about their unique stereo space echo, the RE-402, built from vintage units. Soundgas is preparing to launch a crowdfunding campaign for their 636P 500 series, aiming to bring these products to a wider audience.
And during this SynthFest-24 show, Soundgas held an auction of some of their kit.
The Soundgas auction format will be a means of getting gear out the door in cases where it's not maybe so practical to go through an expensive full refurb process first - 'caveat emptor' n all that... but you might get yourself a bit of a bargain ;-]
