I'm glad someone is giving Tommy his props. I've been following him since he was a junior and would point out to fellow tennis fans to keep an eye on him, maybe even throw him some of their support, but he was still ignored. Tommy was accepted to attend the University of Georgia starting in 2018 but decided to turn pro at the end of 2017. He may have turned pro a little too early and the pressure on him to deliver immediate success may have played a part in his slower development in the sport. However, I'm glad for his rise and success, and I hope it can continue for more years to come.
Still don't know why everyone hype Shelton. If anyone from usa is gonna win a grand slam in near future it will be paul. He has got the most complete game of all and does not overly rely on his serve like most players from usa do.
Shelton is 21 thats why. You can say his serve is the only reason he is good. I would disagree. He has drastically improved is game at the net and has an amazing forehand. He also has made some strides in his return game recently. When you have a top tier forehand and serve with good volleying too you can build the rest of your game up around that and become an amazing player. Shelton has by far the most upside of all the American players. He however still has some issues to work though I.E backhand, backhand return, shot tolerance and consistency. Its hard to deny he has one of the most dynamic and versatile serves combined with one of the hardest forehands on tour.
@@Meowth88He is very good, but he is too reliant on his serve. Paul is a more complete player. He is not Top 3 material, but he has his flares of brilliance that can be enough for him to win a couple hc Slams ala Wawrinka. Shelton needs to serve bombs all the time or he doesn't have a chance against the top dogs. There is a huge diffefence between Shelton and Rune, for example. Rune, when he is not being his mentally inconsistent self, has such a complete game he can outrally Djokovic, can outscore Sinner and can overpower Alcaraz (on almost any surface). Shelton is a great player, he can definitely be a better version of Fritz or Hurkacz, but Rune's potential is far greater so the hype for him is more credible.
@@Miguel-yf4yc Fritz won more than double the titles Paul won. Fritz had 23 wins over top10 players; Paul only 11. Fritz leads h2h against Paul 3-2. Fritz reached higher rank. Fritz reached 4 GS QFs, way more consistent than Paul, who reached AO SF only because of easy draw, beating an immature Shelton who was only having his second GS debut. I like Paul as he is collected player, but Fritz is better than Paul in every way.
i have heavily under estimated paul for a long time but looking back he is doing very very strong this year and he is something special and can 100% be american #1 and he has so much potential to win a slam at some point

@@carolineabraodalmaz1495 Don't forget Korda, probably the american player with the most potential in the pack. For me, Tiafoe and Fritz have already reached their ceiling, Paul still has room to improve, same with Shelton and Korda.
I think he’s very talented and athletic but in the break point episode on him for last year, I got the impression that he wasn’t quite as motivated as the other players. He would drink a lot and his diet wasn’t all that clean. I think if he gets his priorities straight he should be able to break the top ten in the future but probably not the top five.
@@Courtside_Tennis love his all court game so refreshing to see and to hear him say that Tim Henman was one of his fav players I really like that being American and always dealing with big serves etc he's my favorite player
Right now the best American player is Taylor( I like to play Apex Legends and Warzone like you), but I like more the style of playing of Tommy(because i play like him of course in amateur, semi pro closing to pro vibes with friends), I think he 's got the potential to be in the top 5 like Fritz and in 2025 they will win again some tournaments!!!!
Courtside Tennis Tommy hurt his ankle in the tie break of set 2 vs Medvedev. He would have likely won if not for the injury. Then reaggravated it in the next tournament.

Why 28%?
bro becomes prime Federer every time he plays Carlos

uh not really. Tommy won the first two against him but now lost the last four
His fidget spinning of the racket is very entertaining.
There’s so much hype on Shelton, and talk about Tiafoe, but Tommy is my favorite player on tour rn
me too, and Carlos

he just needs to ease on the wrist flexion on his forehand. Looks like a technique prone to injury.
The players must really look forward to being featured on Courtside Tennis. These presentations are so good.
I hope so haha
Paul is not only the best American player but he has the highest ceiling for me. I’d like to see him more hungry on court bc he has the potential

He is a classic example of how weak tennis has been for so long , outside of 5 players .
Tommy Paul needs to improve his forehand. It’s pretty yo look at but lacks depth and angel.
How can his serve be top 2 if Hurkacz and Shelton are alive (& medvedev & more)
The kick serve in particular; not the entire serve package
Tommy Paul's forehand is really not that good.
