  • A few weeks back I picked up a new Phenix M1 Baitcasting rod from Phenix Rods at the International Sportsman's Expo. I was excited to test it out so I went out and tossed it a bit. During the process of testing it out the Guide on the tip of the rod popped off.
    Dealing with the folks at Phenix was really easy and they took great care of me. I'm excited to keep using my Phenix Rods for quite some time. Check out Phenix here: www.phenixrods....

    Great story and outcome for both you and the company! Most companies should realize that the most important thing is standing behind their product and great customer service. This is a great example of how you retain as well as gain a faithful customer base and future faith in your product . Great customer service goes a long way. Cool beans.

    Cool of you to shout out a company like that.
    I had one of those rare issues with a Vortex scope during a hunting trip and they offered to **Send a replacement scope** to my location and have it mounted if needed. I called after the trip though so that was not needed. They did send a new scope and paid for shipping of the broke one. ABSOLUTELY ZERO hassles, no hoops to jump through. And that's why I own Vortex binos, scope, range finder and spotter.
    As far as a store supporting many companies; REI is hard to beat as well.
    Keep up the great work bro.

    Had something similar happen with my M1, after about the 40th cast it snapped the top 6” off. Turners where I bought it exchanged it with no issues. I love the rod but really hesitant to purchase another.

    I just picked up my very first Phenix rod today. I got a black diamond 8ft and paired it with a Shimano Saragosa SW8000hg. Im glad I found your video it gives me a good feeling that if i have a problem with my rod i will be taken care off. I cant wait to try it out and if it goes well i will definitely look into their fresh water rods for bass and trout.

    I have built a couple rods with Phenix blanks. I have a BFS rod with the Mirage blank and a SUPER lightweight rod using the K2 714 blank. It came in at 2.6oz. The blanks are really nice quality.

    I have a Phenix Feather rod too. I am impressed. Mine a 7'3 x heavy X-fast FTX series but it looks like a heavy and it is very light. I haven't had to deal with customer service yet but I heard good things about them so far.

    Yeah brah I'm going through a similar situation. I have 6 phenix rods but just 💚 the Maxim. Caught tons of fish since I've had it. So I'm just catching stripers left & right, I'm 20mins in on my 8th 23+ inches & my reel set gets loose. When I try to tighten it, its just keeps spinning long story short I sent a warranty email & get a response the next day. They gave me the warranty claim, said to send the rod in. Just about 1hr ago I get a call from them, informed me that they received my rod & is under warranty & that a brand NEW 1 wil be sent out tomorrow 😀. I'm glad to see a company valuing their customers.. Tight lines 🎣 So yeah I'll be adding many more Phenix Rods in my collection.

    Nothing quite like a company that stands behind their product. My father and I fix hot tubs and offer our customers 30 days labor warranty and manufacturers warranty on replacement parts. I've seen the old man "eat" bills that legit could have been billed because they were days or even a couple weeks outside those guidelines. Just because of exactly what you said. These kind of actions make me want to be a lifelong customer. Good stuff!

    Well I haven’t had any luck at all with phenix customer service. I bought 3 brand new phenix feathers and the little ring above the reel seat came loose and slides up an down. Probably an easy fix but when u pay 160 bucks for a rod and it’s defective before u even get to use it. I emailed them twice with no reply. I also broke my feather spinning rod on the first trip out during a hook set. Took it back and got a st. Croix. Don’t get me wrong the rods are amazingly light and awesome looking but the customer service sux

      I use to be a shimano fan boy and bought shimano only. I switched over to Phenix about 5 years ago and I never looked at shimano the same again.
      Their rods are well built with the exception of a few that slip through as you can see...
      But they are by far the best customer service rod manufacturer out there. and their rods are super sensitive...
      Caught a 42" forked Thresher shark with my 7.5ft MH Recon2....never was concerned with the rod not performing...

    Having worked in Customer Service I can say Your attitude goes a long way in determining your outcome. Great that they stood by product. I felt with LAPD Gear and had them send me item that did not fit as advertised. I sent it back and got refund but return shipping was more than I paid. Someone else returned for me not knowing actual cost. But still that was not cool. Like intro to video. So people know it's not a slam video. Seals are beasts

    Love it when people spread the word on companies that take care of their customers ! Ive been fishing Phenix M1's for a couple of seasons and extremely pleased. I did have an issue with one rod....walked into Fishermans Warehouse in Manteca where i bought it, they got Vince Borges ( Phenix rod rep) on the phone and i walked out moments later with a new rod. No fuss, no muss, and no bs "replacement" charge. Kudos to Tim and crew at Fishermans Warehouse, Vince and Phenix Rods ! Old school customer service will get my loyalty and $ evertime.

    I love Phenix rods, I know they can be fragile but like Uncle Ben said “with great weight savings comes fragility” it’s just the nature of the beast when it comes to fishing rods. Don’t high stick or overload your rod on the cast and they will last for a very long time.

Lucky (or unlucky?) you on being an owner of two M1s. I usually dread having to talk to customer service reps for most companies, but now, thanks to your video, I wouldn't mind speaking with Phenix shall something ever happen to my Phenix. I had broke the tip off my mirage (my fault) they were more then happy to give me an entire new rod it was a $50.00 fee, but for me I feel that it was my mistake clearly but no they gave me a brand new one for $50.00 bucks
    I also had a handle on one of my m1 rods come unglued after two hard seasons I am a bit rough with my equipment and I took this rod in and they handed me a new one no questions asked.
    Since then I have expanded my collection of trout rods from them as well as a few poles I use in the ocean

It’s been Triple digits here in Bakersfield and Fresno area, maybe had something to do with it? Turner's might direct you to the Phenix rep for the area or straight to the company. I'd like to think they will work with you on it. The heat could have been a factor, might have messed with the glue.

    I'm guessing I just don't know! But, what do you gain from using a 100.00+ rod vs. a cheaper Big5, Dicks, etc. rod that is on sale for say 50.00? I have many rods all of them less than 75.00 w/ the reel. never once have I had a issue! (except not catching a fish lol) but if the fish are like OMG is that a Zebco, I don't wanna eat that fish anyway! please educate me!

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  7 лет назад +3

      I totally hear what you are saying. A lot of it has to do with the feel, comfort, and responsiveness of the rods. I've had some inexpensive rods (still do and still use them) that I've got a ton of fish with but the more expensive rods tend to be a tad bit more comfortable, feel a little better, and are more responsive. I used that Phenix M1 today and I was actually really impressed with its cast-ability (way better than I had expected) and how responsive it was. I could feel my jig bumping into structure and as crazy as it sounds I could tell the difference in the type of structure the jig was hitting, not something I could do with my off the shelf Bass Pro brand rod that I still use. That same off the shelf rod gets you 95% of the way there, the high dollar rods are that extra 5% that revolves around feel and responsiveness for the most part. I hope that answered your question and honestly when I see the pricetags on some of these rods I just scratch my head as well. Thanks for watching.

    • @Cloud9Outdoorz
      @Cloud9Outdoorz 7 лет назад +2

      I agree with Chris...It comes down to responsiveness of a rod and how it feels. The more expensive rods have a crisp feel that enables you to feel everything that touches the lure...the hook sets are better as well...
      when a rod is light, responsive, and well balanced...you can fish all day and not get as tired....an expensive rod tends to disappear in your hands...not literately but you get where I'm going with this...:) I run a Phenix ultra mbx also...that rod is amazing...

    • @Outwestwithchris1
      @Outwestwithchris1  7 лет назад

      Cloud9 no doubt, after getting used to the Phenix M1 I can tell what my lure us hitting under water by the "feel" of the rod, whether it is grass, weeds, rocks, or branches... pretty cool!
