I'm writing a book series and near the end of the series there's a location that I kind of based off of this song, a deep lake in the woods from which madness emanates, with strange ruins found deep below the surface. The atmosphere this song creates is unparalleled and I could only hope to capture that in writing when that time comes
@@abdrex2139 So I literally have ten books worth of story that I plan on writing, and this takes place book seven, but book 1 is done and in the editing phase. I'll probably have book 1 out next year!
@@pedromgła In my story there's an evil godlike being buried deep below the ground, and all of the deepest points of the planet that are closest to his presence are places of madness. There was an archeological investigation of the lake and every diver went mad, because the lake is the deepest cave on the planet
Always coming back to this song for the part at 12:25. It's like taking me, transcending me to another place, another world, rarely have I had such feelings from music...
This might not be my favorite Agalloch Song overall but this probably has my favorite Vocal performance by the Bands Singer John Haughm. The part at 7:20 when he starts screaming in a crying like way is so beautiful and unique. An absolute massive piece of a Song thats among their best in their discography.
Agreed. It sounds like that segment is the heathen who sent the curse speaking. In the context of the second line of that verse "To the world; this peril shall spread all sorrows", they voice really sounds like it gazed upon the peril of all sorrows.
Written in the waters... "Our shadows seep into the dusk like cranes that melt into the pool; a black lake in which they descend pale ghosts caress the nidstång in the dark its face scarred by the ages, its curse sent with heathen breath to poison the waters of the black lake We are... we are the faces below the ripples A deep sorrow travelled through the woods And found a home in our humble grave" "I've sent this peril... To the world; this peril shall spread all sorrows And you are but gods watching from below at the base of the totem in the black temple of the Earth I am... I am the silence inside the tomb You created the stars and gave birth to all the heavens; the darkness of space and time So go... go to the nightside end below" Where have all the noble cranes gone? Where have all the stags disappeared to? Piled below in the tomb of this burdened pool a curse to those who corrupt these sacred woods a curse to those who taste this solemn water No unhallowed breath shall seal a fate before me Join the drowned in the silence of the black lake's womb Accursed... written in the waters...
I never knew this was all one song. I always thought it like 3 different songs. I've been listening to this album for years. it's my go-to zone-out programming music. anything agalloch. it feels like i'm coding with a longsword
The bass at 11:02 gives me chills down my neck, my back and into my soul......... I feel like I lose myself into the bottomless pit of my own depression and thought. I feel heavy and like lead....I don't know if I want to come back.
"Where have all the noble cranes gone? Where have all the stags disappeared to? Piled below in the tomb of this burdened pool a curse to those who corrupt these sacred woods a curse to those who taste this solemn water" Agalloch, I salute you...
Um mergulho em águas frias, congeladas, que, no entanto, te aquecem. Que te consomem sem que você se desintegre. Essa banda é um verdadeiro espetáculo de sentimento e clima áspero, enevoado. Imoral! Hail Agalloch
all their albums are great. I know many feel the mantle or even ashes is their best work, I personally like marrow the best. Its a little light on the number of songs but each song on marrow is truly magical. This has my vote for best agalloch song.
thank you for the information sir, this band is also from Oregon right?... i ve always been in love with the pacific northwestern forests, Oregon and Washington, amazing places
@@rolandoestradachang639 John is from Montana, for what I know, the others from Washington and Cali, I think, but they were based in Portland, and yes, the Pacific Northwest, northern California, northern Idaho, Washington and Oregon are wonderful, trees and rivers everywhere. ❤️
This makes me think of the end of ''Melancholia'; that melancholy, atmospheric sense of impending doom. Actually, I can picture these guys doing the soundtrack to most any Lars Van Trier or Werner Herzog film.
I am very glad to see that so many people from so different places are touched by the music of Agalloch!!!!! ....amazing
HAILS from Greece.

The way John says "you, created the stars" at 8:11 breaks my heart.
Possibly the most magnificent Agalloch song. A monster.
Not to forget LIMBS. ♥
Also birth and death
In the shadow of our pale companion
she painted fire across the skyline
Dark matter
On my bucket list is to visit Crater Lake and scream the part beginning at 7:22 as loud as I can across the water.

The ambient section with the vibraphone at about 3/4s through the track gives me huge Porcupine Tree vibes
Love from Iran to all ❤❤❤❤
13:10 how can you not be stratospherized by such a thing. Certainly my favorite part from all Agalloch discography, i'm addicted to these...

@Winston Wolf thanks for that info!

Incredibly dark. Fantastic track. The acoustic solo early in the song is nothing short of beautiful.
this song is one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard, it takes time, it grows slowly and is full of nostalgy.....and images are astonishing^^

I thought I didn't like the vocals at first but literally like 2 seconds later I think it's the best I've ever heard.
My favorite agalloch song.
Man these vocals send a chill dow my spine so powerful and sorrowful
vocals are really epic and all but the song really hits its best things after 11 minutes What a masterpiece!
The bass at 11:02 gives me chills down my neck, my back and into my soul.........

Just recently watched videos about wim hof and his techniques, really fascinating stuff. I'm definitely gonna try some of his methods sometime
Great song, great band and great photos in the video
Very good picture video and maybe the best song from Agalloch. Hi from Venezuela.
You Created the Stars..
24 July 2021 from Wisconsin checking in. Glad I came across this band!
Wow wow wow!! It's a pity there are few music pieces made like this these days! I hope they go back to composing again, love you Agaloch 😍😍❤❤❤❤

Magnificent!!!!! Worth the listen EVERY TIME!!!
@7:24, my beat lapsed for a moment there. So much, dreading pain for a world that is suffering.

I live real close to this, very beautiful place indeed. Diamond Lake is beautiful as well.
The best song on the CD by far.
Best masterpiece ever made
It's hard to find a black metal band like Agalloch. I wish there were others in the same atmospheric league.
I'm not sure if you already heard of this band, but I recommend Thy Light.

Same. At first it was the mantle but this album has grown on me. I truly feel connected to the earth listening to this.
yes, the best agalloch song, simply brilliant...
All hail! Agalloch! May they awaken.
true masterpiece
One of my favorite songs. Amazing
agalloch is my favorite band of al time
The best Agalloch song
The first time I listened to that section of the song it moved me to tears.
If GOD had a band...
Great video!
I'm confused, how is there 7 dislikes? This is one of Agalloch's greatest songs!
Not every genius is understood
Because they're stupid
I understand some doesn't like the slow beginning
i personally dont consider it among my top 10 Agalloch songs
@@arte0021 What are your top ten?
Fuuuuuck what a song...chilling to the bone
Damn, winter certainly is the best now isnt it. Great song and band.
Holy shit I slept on this song until now and I have been an Agalloch fan since 2014
I have never been high, but for sure it feels how I feel in the part from 10:15 to 14:36
very beautiful. Greetings from Australia.

O "Magnus Opus" do Agalloch, na minha humilde opinião. Os vocais arrepiam até no âmago da alma...

Epic Doom. Epic Nostalgia. Appreciate the NOW.

Great song, great band. I'm pretty sure the pic at 3:40, 9:10 and 14:40 is from a place called "Villette Park" in Cham/Switzerland.
Crater Lake!!
..interestin..a black lake Nidsang ..
@LeoIBP gave me shivers, that part. So good.
Sounds like Cult of Luna's Somewhere Along the Highway. That being said, I might have guessed that Cascadian black metal would be something special.
@elblackmetall thanks a lot! This in indeed a wonderful song. Greetings back from Germany;-)
@lifemusicandnature You re welcome. Hope to see someday Agalloch live. By the way... I was in Frankfurt last weekend seeing Rush.
I so fuckin love this song.

This, but I'm also partial to falling snow, and the mantle. (But you have good taste too)

to me.....ashes is the epitome of music. this comes very close.
