I like how Klevgrand always have a dose of silliness in their demos, and are one of very few VST creators that tent to say away from the typical 'marketing talk' regarding the features of their products. Stay weird and different, guys!
Definitely out of the box. Grabbed my attention immediately while browsing a best of 2023 article. It didn't make it into the article's determined list, but as an honorable mention, it was the only one that grabbed my attention enough to explore and research deeper. A DEFINITE BUY! Hello, kudos, and thank you to the entire Klevgrand team!
This appears to be exactly what I've desperately been unable to get from any other wavetable/resynthesis VST - something that lets me import my own audio and allows seamless movement between key zone-mapped layers. Looking forward to trying out the demo!
I think I have to agree with many contributors here, in that this being able to bring in your own sound file, then to manipulate it as if it were ‘built-in’, is a significant capability. Sampling is not my strong suit, some people get really creative. Put another way, it’s a direction I’d love to go in next. There’s a lot of synths now, in iOS/iPadOS and that’s well-recognised. This is however standing out, as in 2023 anything will need to probably. I think about the various soft synths I have, and love all of them really. There’s no way to compare what’s happened in the last 3 years with what went before, except to say, that Apple’s M1 because it enables soft synths to work ‘properly’ and your iOS DAW to function without bumping into limits, has revolutionised what was a great idea in principle (mobile music, soft synths instead of hardware), by turning it into reality. Still a place for some hardware mega-synths and conventional instruments of course, but the cheaper low-end hardware, really I sold off what I had, but that’s just IMO, for me. It enabled me getting the (used) M1 iPad Pro, so that’s the way I went. Tip for all iOS musicians, from me, an ex-IT man: having done extensive testing of why my iPad Pro 2 was failing to play songs in GarageBand I’d created some time ago, I found that unsurprisingly, you need free space for functions the basic OS needs to perform, and the plugins, and the DAW also need to perform. Not RAM, but SSD on the device. I found, 55Gb was the BARE MINIMUM to get a song of mine running, with multiple plugins etc. I have therefore set myself a ‘free SSD space’ minimum for music creation on iOS/iPadOS, of 75Gb. Now, nobody mentions this, and I see no guidelines from Apple (admissions?!), yet it’s not a ‘fault’, it’s an obvious reality. I keep seeing reviews on the app store, and they are of apps I know, work fine, but the faults are the exact issues I found occurred when my SSD on that iPad Pro 2, had less than 55Gb free space. This figure is accurate, for your baseline minimum, I really did test it to destruction, narrowed it down to that exact amount. Remember, MicroSoft say 200Gb or something, of free hard drive space is necessary for Windows to run, so why this is not just said by Apple I know not. Complex and burdensome software like video editing and music, especially soft synths, are going to tax the heck out of all system resources. Hence I gave in, and got the maxed-out but used M1-based iPad Pro. It’s just transformative, for me at least. So, 75Gb free space, or weird stuff starts happening, eg plugin loses it’s settings on a track for sound patch chosen, etc. You won;t know if it’s the AUv3, or the device, if you haven’t got 75Gb plus free SSD, that’s just fact now. So, thanks for this, I am plumping for it soon, and take care all, plenty of music still to be made, ideas tried. Surely 2023 has SOME good things in store? He said, looking skyward.!
Just, wow! Besides the obviously unique sound source… the details, like graphing an amount within the mod matrix itself, are simple genius. You keep smashing it folks! Love (and purchase!) your work, thanks for all your wild (and quietly smart) ideas! And thanks for releasing iOs versions; i use skaka on my iPad and it’s brilliant that way. Once this one comes to iOS i will definitely be using it there. The touch screen would be amazing for modulating the ‘dot’. Especially, If you could include some kind of strength of pitch-quantize on the iOS version, it could be a really incredible way to play melodic lines with organically changing timbre, by hand. (Finger, anyway) Thanks and cheers 🍻
Ok, at first I thought: do I really need another wavetable synthesiser? But this looks more like a digital reimagination of the Mellotron. Very interesting, I'll give it a try! EDIT: tried it, bought it. Tomofon really is different from other wavetable based synths and indeed has a more Mellotron-like vibe, but is a lot more flexible. The included samples/wavetables have a very organic/human character (voices, real instruments), but I guess when you upload your own samples you can make this instrument really sound any way you want it. The included samples are ideal for composing modal music / music with a pedal point. Good job Klevgränd!
Hey Sebastien , I’m huge fan of Klevgrand AUV3 apps. This release is a stunning instrument which through your multifaceted audio model is a fantastic environment for voice creation.🙏👍🎩🙏🏿✨🎵🦄
I've purchased this, looking forward to learning it. However, It looks tiny on high resolution screen. Is it possible to resize GUI? This is becoming a standard now for new plugins. Thanks
This is a very interesting idea, well done! But I saw elsewhere on RUclips that this doesn't support MPE... any plans to add MPE support? It seems to me like an ideal use case for it.
Looks interesting. However I really need to ask myself do I really need another synth. Ill see if theres a demo and see if its really ground breaking and does what my other synths cant.
Wow, this is fascinating! Is there anywhere where the audio model format works in more technical depth? I’m really curious about how exactly this works.
I'm honestly not sure where the ground breaking part is.. it's wavetables & we can use our own audio files (like other wavetable synths)? What did I miss?
Needs more way of shaping the sounds .. everything i put into this thing sounds a dull organ.. needs some effects or a way to blend the real sample in so it doesnt all sound exactly the same
Man Klevgrand is such a strange company. Please make a video where someone is using this to create a track including adding their own sounds. This is far outside the box and I’m trying to grasp it.
I LOVE that shirt. Where did you get it? I want one too. I also LOVE the way you pronounce 'Klevgrand'. It sounds like skumkanterell tastes: spongy, sweet, melting on the tongue. I I I I I and, uh, the new virtual synth is quite interesting too. 🥸

dont be silly
They've gone berserk with this one. What a wild synth! I think the tone fits perfectly with this crazy device.

Thank you for the kind words!
guys you are on to something big ! mindblowing potential. out of this world
3:54 : seamless glissando across different samples, wow!
That had my jaw on the floor.
That feeling when you're just a few minutes into the overview and you already LOVE the plugin... 😀
Right?!
A very interesting new synth idea. I do really like the approach Klevgrand take to new synths and plugins. Well done.
What an amazing plug in again! Thanks Klevengrad for always having innovative vsts for us!
Really well presented - Black November deal is $49 on Tomofon - bargain and two free preset/model packs! Fun new synth to play with ;o)
Closing demo sounds beautiful.
This is a very helpful walkthrough. All the more important as you've created something so distinctive and new!
Looks to be a great and very powerful synth! The idea of the audio model seems to be a super cool concept
GREAT Synth ! a touch of genius in the making ! great job guys !
This appears to be exactly what I've desperately been unable to get from any other wavetable/resynthesis VST - something that lets me import my own audio and allows seamless movement between key zone-mapped layers. Looking forward to trying out the demo!
Such an exciting range of sonic capabilities are unlocked using this plugin. Can't wait to get it! :)
Loved it... started playing with it!!! Great possibilities!!!

Woooooooooooow! Y'all never fail to inspire.
wow. this looks amazing.
Just bought this, can't wait to dive in
it seems to be fantastic ! I think I won't resist ^^
Sounds really interesting, can't wait to try it out!
Interesting indeed! Will try the Demo if there is one:) congratulations on your new product release!
There is a free demo on klevgrand.com/products/tomofon 👍

Hi! We just updated Tomofon and it's now resizable :)
I want this sooooo much on IOS ASAP!!! Great job guys!
Early 2023 - official response by developer.
This is a very interesting idea, well done! But I saw elsewhere on RUclips that this doesn't support MPE... any plans to add MPE support? It seems to me like an ideal use case for it.
Yes! We’re working on it for an upcoming update.
@@klevgrand That's excellent news! Thanks for replying.
I agree 100 %! This has a lot of potential for Linnstrument, Seaboard, etc!!!
Looks interesting. However I really need to ask myself do I really need another synth. Ill see if theres a demo and see if its really ground breaking and does what my other synths cant.

We will add more in depth tutorial video very soon, stay tuned!
I'm honestly not sure where the ground breaking part is.. it's wavetables & we can use our own audio files (like other wavetable synths)? What did I miss?
For starters: it lets you import multisamples, where a regular wavetable oscillator “just” plays back the same wavetable at pitch across the keyrange
you could always try reading the product page...
Here's another overview of the early alfa model eight years ago: ruclips.net/video/G2f7eDroirE/видео.html
🤘
Y'all could do dynamic convolution with this tech
I get that it’s different than granular synthesis but I don’t really understand how. Can anyone explain to me simply?
This is f*#king cool.
I got it, everyone. It's magical.
😍

Looks really cool! But like a lot of stuff it's out of my price range
He looks like he is suffering like "When will it all end?...Jesus..."
Haha, well apparently this was the take where Sebastian was told to speak very extra super slowly…
Holy SH&T!! TAKE MY MONEY!
Please Mpe Support 🙏
Coming soon!
AND MTS ESP for microtonal composers! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Will buy instantly
Hang on, I've been pronouncing "klevgrand" like an ignorant English speaker all this time!
