I lived in Boston when this icon and king of the Basketball court lived and mastered the game. I am so glad I lived in Boston and watched on local TV the Celtics and Larry Bird do his fantastic work and put player after player that went up against him? Get schooled? And taught to no end not to mention his out standing ease in those three points shots . I wished so so so much that I would have had the honor to meet Larry Bird and got to shake his hand and maybe an autograph. In close I will say this as to my honesty. Before I moved to Boston in 1980? I never really watched NBA pro basketball? As a young guy back in the 70s and 80s I was more into pro football. I even liked the Patriots prior to moving to Boston. But in my honest and most humble accounts with my hand to God? It was one man who caught this guy's attention at the age then? My 22 years of age then. In fact ? My ex back then ? She was so amazed at how much I was into the game in preferring to watch Larry Bird dazzle the old home court side fans with his stellar moves. Larry lead the Celtics green machine like I had never seen one man do both in? And outside the Old Boston Garden . I'm a little older now at age 66? My one long standing most joyous memories are the 80s and the outstanding hard work Bird brought to each and every game. You sir are one incredible man. And the guys that played on the team were good too like Kevin ,Danny, Dennis? The Chief? Uh . He needed to put that flowered herb down so he could be a bit faster on those fast breaks huh? But you Larry will always be a mentor to me. I do Manny ways. Once again ? From this 66 year old guy? Thank you for teaching me so much as a fan to the game and the art of it. God bless? Live long and Prosper.

I loved watching Shawn Kemp, was a very big Sonics fan in the 90's. Saw him an the Sonics live a whole bunch of times. Before they made Key Arena the old Seattle Coliseum had general admission tickets that were clear at the top behind all the seats, had to stand watching the game. But they were super cheap an I was super young so it was no big deal to me then I just liked being in the building during the game.....
I bought seven game packages a couple years an one was during the 95-96 season when Seattle won I think 63 or 64 games an went to the finals. I got to see them beat the Bulls in the regular season, eliminate the Jazz in game 7 an beat the Bulls again in game 4 of the Finals. An Kemp was awesome in every game, he was a straight stud while in Seattle. Broke my heart when he left.
I don't think I saw them lose that year, in person I mean. They were really good in 95-96.....
Great memories..... Was watching Griffey JR live back then as well, Seattle had it going on then.
I've been to the new Climate Pledge Arena for a Kraken game, that place is wicked nice and I swear I don't think there's a bad seat in the place. We sat clear up top close to the roof but the way they built it the seats up top are way closer than they use to be, it's really cool.
But that old Coliseum had a different feel or vibe to it. It was just the court, people an the roof. No distractions from advertising banners or luxury suites. It was just a sea of people. It seemed more exciting like that. That old scoreboard was horrible but I loved the energy of that old building.
Climate Pledge is so nice though, can't really beat that new building.
Maybe we can get the Sonics back now. I hope so.

@@kenanderson6761 I liked the Kingdome, didn't want it tore down. But I was wrong, the 'new' stadiums are so much better. I love them both. I loved the Kingdome as well, many great memories from in there.
I saw Metallica an Van Halen in there, tons of Mariners games and a few Seahawks games including the last game in there when the Seahawks lost to Marino an the Dolphins in the playoffs.
I don't remember who but some Seahawk dude ran a kickoff back for a TD. That play alone was worth the price of admission. It felt so good to see that.......
I saw Gaylord Perry's 300th live, I saw Randy Johnson strikeout 19 dudes an lose on the same night Mark McGuire hit the longest homerun in Kingdome history. I saw Dave Winfield hit a HR over the boat that use to be in center field. All kinds of cool stuff. I loved that building.
But I love the new ones way more. They're top notch an I understand why they wanted them now. Neither the Mariners nor the Seahawks will be moving any time soon with those stadiums. They both almost left back in the 90's. An the Sonics did leave us.

When you come out of college with the nickname, "The Hick from French Lick" and then in the pros get nicknamed, "The Legend" even by your fiercest rival, Magic, dude... there is no better nickname given in any field of competition aside from 'legend'. That name is earned, not chosen, not given, not a cliche. Michael "His Airness" Jordan, Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain, and Larry "Legend" [Bird](his last name was never even used in regard to Larry Bird once he was named 'legend', just the alliteration was used, js). Those three still are the best there's ever been. Remember the coach who named Bird as 'the only player he would choose to shoot a shot if his [the coach's] life depended on it. #RESPECT

I want to say that I've, truly, enjoyed your content and amazing insight. - You deserve MANY more subs. - Keep up the awesome work. - I'll do my best to spread the word. - Hit that thumbs up button, all. It'll help him sooo much.
TY, PLB. I've enjoyed some fantastic looks back into time, and while I knew the BIRD was good, I had no idea he was soooo good. - The best overall I would say is not an overstatement.

Larry Bird is the GOAT! End of story! I mean his game is multi-faceted. He can be beat you in so many ways. And he talks trash and backs it up too. I guess when you break LArry's lil brother's high school records, he skin you alive on the court.

Anybody who doesn’t think Larry Bird would be able to play in today’s League just needs to take one look at what Nikola Jokić has done the last 3 or 4 years… and realize that was pretty much Larry’s entire career.
Bird was a more* athletic Joker back in the day, and with the ticky-tack contact fouls called in today’s game, he’d average 35-40 a game.
The dude would cut you into ribbons and then pick the ribbons apart.
    Absolutely savage.

Larry Legend for a reason. dont sleep on prime Kemp though, man was a savage, nobody attacked the rim like him. forget Kemps off court stuff, and the end years of his career, when he was in his prime, the Kemp Payton Sonics, most fun team i ever watched.

It would be very appropriate for some group of NBA veterans to get together and make an unofficial trophy, give it to some worthy trash talker and start the ritual of presenting such a trophy each year.! Most everyone would rejoice!
