  • This is one of the coolest and most unknown Matchbox castings out there. This is a Matchbox Ultra Kenworth W900 semi truck and trailer.
Matchbox Ultra were a line of premium diecast cars and trucks in the late 90's to early 2000s that included some great semi truck castings - including the Kenworth.
I took the original casting, which I bought the purple and blue version, and customized it using decals I got off-line at the time. I made this truck more than 10 years ago, but this is the first time I'm really sharing it. I could probably redo the decals to make it look better, but I like it how it is for now.

As soon as I discovered Smokey & the Bandit especially for a kid like me who was born at the end of the 90s, this was an awesome movie to watch. This is the very reason I also got into Hooper which Burt Reynolds was also a part of. Wonderful truck custom you did and I still hope you are considering the video about every Bandit Tran Ams ever made.

Thanks! Hooper was a good movie too, but I can’t remember if they ever made any toys from that one or not.
I still plan on doing the Trans Am video too, but am still collecting cars for it as they made quite a few different ones.

@@64Wheels well the Hooper’s got another Trans-Am and yeah I do hope we could get a Diecast replica. No pressure my guy I can see your dedication to Smokey and the Bandit just from this video. Take all the time you need to get Bandit’s own rides

I wish matchbox would bring those licensed Semi trucks back, cause if they did I've would've love to make a Peterbilt 359 from Joy Ride 3 Roadkill

Me too - they were great trucks for the price and there’s nothing like that available in the US right now for under $100. The DCP trucks are insane, but they are priced insanely too lol.

I know that Ertl made the Smokey and the Bandit 2 rig, which had the same art but was the newer silver semi, but the sticker that’s on that truck would work for an HO scale version. I know Yatming made a 1/87ish scale W900a that’s the correct truck you could easily customize to be a Bandit truck with some of the decal sets they sell on eBay.

I was having this conversation with some friends awhile back about how Matchbox should’ve made Snowman’s rig. That said the other box trailer they made (the Coca-Cola Peterbilt 359 and Budweiser Freightliner cabover that I have have the one I’m talking about) is more like his trailer than the one here. Also the curved stacks were available on Matchbox trucks.

Is that other trailer a refer trailer? Like does it have the refrigerator unit on the front? It would be cool to find one with that on the front so it was more realistic!

@@64Wheels no it doesn’t, if you compare the one here and the other one they made you’d see what I’m talking about, I can’t really explain it.

I think they were made in the 90s and early/mid 2000s. I remember KB Toys selling them.

Not to be mean, you did do a good job, but however, the Kenworth badge on the movie truck was black and gold because it was a '73 and Kenworth marked there 50th anniversary. But for the most part, did a good job. 👍👍

Thanks - there’s a few things on this one that I’d like to change, including the Hobbs mudflaps, correcting the sleeper stripes, and adding a refrigerator unit to the trailer. I made this more than a decade ago, but I’d love to track down another set of the decals so I can make another one.

It’s a custom so it doesn’t have a set price or anything like that
