In this video, as much as the girls are struggling with their rolls, they are still bullshitting at the same time with their in-game decisions. Absolutely no reason not to disengage after tying up Bug's legs with the rope, they could still do whatever they wanted, as long as if it was outside melee range.
@@mingyi456 I agree with you. That's what I was trying to express here: he tries to weed out their bullshitting /unprepared stumbling around, without punishing them for those mistakes that are only rooted in their noobness. And Rob said (Behind The Screens) that they learned from it and showed up more prepared / focused for the next table sessions (not: episodes).
Dropping the tankier (pretty sure Britt's melee ranger is their 'tank') character to 2hp in only two hits was a pretty good hint to high tail it in the opposite direction in my opinion.

Definitely a better speech-giver than Captain Isaac. Also, part of me still hopes they’ll be dumped in Ewolin. If Horatio can just make a wagon out of random tree trunks, let them ransack the ruins of Skabatha‘s tree house; that should help with some interesting gear… 🤔

I would so love it if a wizard named Djeoph swooped in and saved the day for the misfits and afterwards they decide he should become the new leader of the order of the weave.
I'm genuinely surprised by the amount of shade being thrown in some of these comments. I've played TTRPGs for decades and DMed, and it can be genuinely challenging to find and run with your character's voice and personality. Rob is an amazing DM and I think that, even if some exasperation comes through, he's still fundamentally having a good time. It has been great to watch all of the games he has run with VLDL and I think the players in Misfits deserve special props seeing as they did not have the luxury of stepping into preexisting roles and characters that most of the Epic NPC players had. I am looking forward to seeing different players' quirks and idiosyncrasies come through to shape the game sessions, and supplanting what seems to be a weird desire a lot of the audience has to see Misfits mimic Epic NPC Man. Y'all keep rocking on, bringing your unabashed voices to the game as you hit your respective characters' strides, and having fun. Special mention to Rob for fostering game environments where players can learn, creativity is rewarded, and hardships are consequences instead of punishments.
Could not have said this better myself. Yes, the players might still be learning and finding their characters, but they’re also telling a good story and they’re clearly having fun doing so, just as I’ve been having fun seeing where their story goes.
@@keyboardSmashed_ I think it can also be easy to forget that one table session may play out across a half dozen episodes, so when someone thinks "come on, you've had a month and a half to learn the ropes" it's actually more like 4 hours.
You make good points. Reading the comment section under the last couple of Misfits episodes made me realise how much bravery it takes to put yourself out there in front of an anonymous online audience. I mean: yes, their current table session (episode 15 and running) has been noticeably 'weaker' so far - but before that Phoenix and Rhi had only 2 table sessions of practice, and Ellie had 1 additional session as Elwina Custodiet ages ago. Britt is more experienced, but her 10 (?) sessions have been spread out over 4 years. (Plus a minimum of off-camera training each.) And I know part of the problem is that they didn’t prepare enough before this specific table session (because yes, even noobs can be expected to know what happened last session, when to use which dice, and how the DnD Beyond app works). But: we all under-prepare for our jobs sometimes! Or lose sight of the long-term objective of our current mission. And we are lucky that our mishaps are not being broadcast all over the internet for ‘eternity’. To sum things up and put them in perspective: The Misfits are currently not ‘screwing up on 7 consecutive weeks’, they have just not been able to bring their A-game during 1 camera shooting between 8am and lunch break on a random weekday a couple of months ago. So let’s all be respectful of their learning process and their little flaws, hoping that they will feel encouraged to gift us with a second short-campaign later 🌻 (From what I heard on ‘Behind the Screens’ we may already have lost our chances of getting a part 2 of NPC PvP, because too many people have bullied Adam & Rob for forgetting about concentration spells that should have ended sooner.)
Not to mention running from a battle isn't a common thing in video game RPG's. If you die, you reload and try a different strategy. If this were BG3, I would totally try to defeat him the 1st time. Try to fight him again, with a different strat. Then maybe run away. lol
The last hero point might have worked better as an automatic success for another Suggestion to head home and go back to defending the mansion. Would that have been reasonable enough for Bug to stop the attack, or is he too committed?
Or the illusion could have been another attempt at the Trakel thing again. Even if Bubble does not speak giant, she could just make an illusion of Trakel hand signalling him to stop attacking, it would have been way less iffy then wondering if Bug would be scared of fire.
So, is it just a coincidence that we have, clockwise , for either campaign ? The unlucky blonde seat The self absorbed yet efficient charismatic character The trying to be cute and nice but psychopatic character And the character ignoring everything around them and acting on whims My theory is that the chairs are actually possessed and dictate player's actions.
Wow. Rob is such a great DM. He isn't given hints that they should run away but more throwing it in there face. They aren't doing it for some reason and instead of emphasize it more, he is trying to use the abilities they want to use against the undead giant. Which I'm positive most, if not majority, should not work on rules alone. Good on Rob.
I enjoy seeing how they’re learning together how to D&D. Everyone bagging on this for not being “strategic” enough doesn’t understand this channel is about having fun and making entertaining choices, not just “winning”.
Rhi being epic on her descriptions!! love how you describe it so passionately 😀😀. Nice save with the fire, Ellie!! Next time, just disengage and run 😛. But to be honest this is nice content to watch🥳🥳
Hearing Rob practically scream "RUN AWAY" so many times in rapid succession without trying to be too obvious about it and none of the players picking up on it actually made me feel better about similar issues I've had at my table. Like they created this problem, he probably didn't plan for this, it's taking too long, so it looks like he's trying to give them an out, "Literally just run away", but they're not doing it, either from the player mindset "The DM is secretly trying to screw us over and the thing he wants us to do is clearly a trap" even when it's just "For the love of god, we're two hours into this session and we're not even through the first paragraph of what I had planned, let's move this along!", or they don't want to take one Opportunity Attack to get out of there and run away. Which is also weirdly common. "But if I run he gets an opportunity attack!" Right, but if you get out of there and just leave, it doesn't matter if he wallops you once because one long rest later, you're fine, anyway. Take the hit and get away.
Rob I think you really need a gift or a reward for doing this show. The frustration must be real. I feel a behind the sceen class on using thier characters might be needed. However I really am not sure that would even work, but hey that is life I guess. I do love watching the train wreck though lol

I thought they burned that down.
@@MarwanAziz-cs1vt - they did, but we are talking D&D here… I can just hear Rob saying with a smirk „Make an investigation check“. Chances are, they will run into another „Mommy!“ doll. 😁
@@duicic8541sorry I didn’t read the ruins part and thought you wanted them to visit
Skabatha fixed tree
NOBODY is a better speech giver than the unmatched charismatically inspirational Captain Isaac.
@@hermanswords8629 - particularly when he expires with a well-placed Wilhelm Scream.
Haven’t quite hit their stride yet….but can’t wait to see when they do.
am i the only one envisioning Bug as a Stalnox from Breath of the Wild?
I would so love it if a wizard named Djeoph swooped in and saved the day for the misfits and afterwards they decide he should become the new leader of the order of the weave.
So far been a great series. Great idea on the fire also Ellie! 😉😂😂
Thanks!
(Plus a minimum of off-camera training each.)
And I know part of the problem is that they didn’t prepare enough before this specific table session (because yes, even noobs can be expected to know what happened last session, when to use which dice, and how the DnD Beyond app works).
The unlucky blonde seat
The self absorbed yet efficient charismatic character
The trying to be cute and nice but psychopatic character
And the character ignoring everything around them and acting on whims
My theory is that the chairs are actually possessed and dictate player's actions.
This whole episode I just kept screaming “DISENGAGE! DISENGAGE!” 😂
I love how Sneaki is moving around and hiding everywhere, instead of coming out behind of the rock attacking and then hiding behind the same rock 😂
Ellie speaking for Britts ADHD is sooooo good! Like yeah you filmed this before the ADHD series I guess, but it just works soooooo well! 😀
I enjoy seeing how they’re learning together how to D&D. Everyone bagging on this for not being “strategic” enough doesn’t understand this channel is about having fun and making entertaining choices, not just “winning”.
Right. Everyone acting like their first DND session was sunshine and roses.
Thank you for posting this. What a beautiful surprise! Wish you peace, love, and light.
Rhi being epic on her descriptions!! love how you describe it so passionately 😀😀. Nice save with the fire, Ellie!! Next time, just disengage and run 😛. But to be honest this is nice content to watch🥳🥳
Bubble's Eldritch Blast is awesome! The ladies are so gleefully creative its infectious
yeah, they just need to roll better! (and not try taking pet undead hill giant on road trip without contingency plan) :D
I think at this level she also had a second beam
@@pareshpriyadarshanrana2932 I think they did not yet level up, as Rob said it would take 5 days to do so,and they spent just 8 so far
That's a lot of resources expended on an encounter they weren't even supposed to have!
With probably no reward whatsoever because it's a naked skeleton with a giant-sized club and nothing else.
I loved the part where Horatio mentioned water several times
I have no idea where Rhi gets her imagination from, but damn it's amazing
This episode reminds me of a quote be Jim Carrey as the Riddler. “You can’t kill em, you won’t learn nothing”
Rob vogueing!! I live!!!!!!! Didnt know I needed to see it til he did it.
Love it when real world Rob shows up on the green screen
Rob I think you really need a gift or a reward for doing this show. The frustration must be real. I feel a behind the sceen class on using thier characters might be needed. However I really am not sure that would even work, but hey that is life I guess. I do love watching the train wreck though lol
you actually can help Rob AND the show.
They are nominated in the finals of this years CRIT AWARDS: VLDL as "Best Legacy RUclips Channel" and ROB as "Best Dungeon Master".
and Rob has a Weekly "Behind the Scenes" for the Ladys on fridays and for the guys on Sundays on his Twitch-Stream (but you also can watch it later ;)
@@PoobertFartley that's a very smooth plug 😄👏
Or Bug interviewed by Sir Vey
yeah pure mess with no progression and a fight that they could've avoided some time back
i just love how rob hints them to run but they stillt try to fight and fail every attack XDD
I love all the people in this crew, acting and having a laugh... DnD is supposed to be fun! That being said, I really do wish this wonderful group of very charming people would stop trying to charm ROB into going along in the real world and would just start leaning into their stats and abilities on the table. Warlock: Eldritch blast, every round you can't think of what to do. Vampire, front and centre, anchor the line with your toughness. Bard, ranged attacks and bardic inspiration at the start of every fight. Rogue, ALWAYS be sneaking and backstabbing!
And most importantly, its NOT cowardly to run away and live to fight another day. Its an adventure, not a war!
I wonder if Arrow could have contacted Dracel and gotten Dracel's 'safe word' to get the giant to stop 🛑 attacking?
I lost it when Britt said "he does a death drop", Rob immediately shut her down, she laughed nervously, and the captions read "*laughs in coward*" 😂
Damn look at those breezy trees in the green screen! We are coming up in the world!
I can feel the dm's frustration with this party configuration and the players. But he is also being supportive at times.
So how about that carnival eh? Anyone? No? We're going to play with the undead monster we inexplicably brought with us...and have now tied up but we're not running away from? Oh now we're running away? Ok good. I'm sure there'll be no repercussions at all...😅❤❤❤😂
Renember, adventurers: when you forget about bardic inspirstions, you bard's heart stings
I hope when we finally get to get to Honeywood (IF we get to Honeywood at this point lol) we learn the repercussions of Baradun giving Greg's address to the Witch Light Carnival. I'm guessing that's why they're outside Honeywood, but I'm hoping for an update on Greg's corpse-filled-poop-smelling shop.
The ladies rolled poorly on constitution save against Robert Hartley Curse.
This will be funnier if this episode runs at the same time as the Ryoko's Guide oneshot campaign with Rob as a player 😂
I love the misfits. I sing their praise regularly. But these last two episodes have been a little brutal ladies. You can do this!
Good Idea: Wrap up the the Giant's Legs. Bad Idea: Stay within melee range and don't disengage. Classic VLDLDND 🤙
Aaauuggggghhhh.... every round I'm thinking... "noooooo, run away, and now RUN while he's tied up, AAAAAUGH"
Ellie saying she has to resort to pulling out the big ol' eldrich blast made me chuckle. -Woah there.. calm down Ellie... just take it easy-
Ben must of left a curse there. I hereby call this, The Ben Curse
Rob still giving off Archfae vibes with how efficiently they bargain back the Hero tokens they hand out.
Hey!!! I've got dyscalculia!! I have never known anybody else who had it! Or OF anybody else who had it! Yay! I mean, I guess yay? lol It's not a fun club, but I'm happy not to be alone in it anyway, so hi!
This is why rob is the best dm. He's super willing to give ideas to them instead of just acting like a game master
"A fire?? At a sea park?"
My most anticipated show on RUclips!
I imagine Arrow doing the Hunter’s Mark is like Shakira in She Wolf music video
