Just wanted to pop in to say that Perkins, my cockatiel, passed away yesterday, on 11/21/17. He had a tumor and his muscle mass was very deficient. He would sit on my computer and stare at me until I opened this site for him, and he would eat while watching the birds. Your site brought him so much happiness and I just wanted to thank you for making his last days so happy for him. He loved watching the birds and singing to them. Perkins was approximately 24 years old, had a good life and I miss him so much. Thank you for entertaining him for these past few months, he really enjoyed watching. You probably have no idea how much joy you are bringing to people and their pets. Thank you so very much.
I am sorry to hear about Perkins, but glad my videos were of such pleasure to him in his final days, thats why I make them and have been very surprised at just how many people (and birds) they have touched and helped. Thank you for taking the time to comment at this tough time. My thoughts are with you, it is never easy.
You're right, it's not easy and I'm still crying about his passing. I know it will get better with time, but it's rough. I'm so grateful to you for making his last days so happy, I still watch and think of Perkins watching and seeing how happy he was. He would go around the back of the screen to see if there were any other birds there. Thank you for your comments, they really help. We never know how much of what we say or do is helping others in so many ways, whether it be people or animals. Thank you again and keep on doing what you are doing, you are wonderful to so many.
Thank you and Henry so very much. I'm down to about 7 hours of crying a day :( I know it will get better, but right now I'm in deep denial. I see him flying all over the place and hear him singing, so he is here in spirit.
Perkins Byrd He's with you this very second friend.. Henry is chirping away listening to this.. I told him to sing a nice song for Perkins.. Hugs dear friend. Stay strong.. God loves his new little Angel bird..! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I used to have a cockatiel named Smokey but my dogs attacked him and then Smokey had a heart attack and then passed away sadly but now I have a cockatiel named frosty
Our wee cockatiel José was engrossed for a full hour! Never seen him so still for so long. Amazing! He's hooked on reality tv now 😁. Thanks for the video.
Since bringing my cockatiel Thumbelina home I’ve played this video for her and it’s been over 1 year now and she still gets so much joy watching and hearing this video. Thanks for posting this!
Thank you for posting got a new baby cockatiel which I'm calling Danny now he's beautiful three months I use your video to keep him occupied when I'm busy
I have 3 monitor screens on my desk at work. As it is quiet at the moment, i have this playing on one of the screens. I feel almost that i am in there with the birds, landing on me, eating millet in my hair, serenading me. Thank you for taking the time to film this and make it available to everyone. Those cockatiels are such characters. I love the way they walk - so comical. Please keep up the great work updating us on the changing environment, and new arrivals.
The beginning of this where the male cockatiel tries to worm his way into a feeding cracks me up. I have a male cockatiel that looks like this and he is just as sneaky and bratty!
I adopted Tanner 2 yrs ago at age 20 after losing my adoring 7yr Pearl. I was inconsolable and wasn't sure adopting a senior wb good for me but his story saddened me and so I took Tanner into my home & ❤. His orig owner bought him as a baby while in college and soon after he lived w her gmother and a female where he enjoyed many yrs siring babies and eating toast from gmom's mouth. His mate died followed by his loving caretaker. His orig owner was moving across country for new job and she knew he wb too stressed for the move. Turns out she lived 15min away and when she brought him, she was overjoyed at size of cage (enormous), toys etc. For a short time I held my breath taking sheet off every a.m. as he was stressed, underweight & frail but he thrived! One month later he repeated "I love you, I love you love you love you" bk to me which I said every time I passed him and at goodnight time. 2 yrs later, at 22yrs he looks tb more than half his age, grooms himself often and lights up when I give him his "Tanner time" and feed him toast just like Dawn's gmother did. I am so thankful that I adopted him and this is proof that age has no bearing when adopting/saving a life. I've made forever friends w his prev family, they visited last summer. Such an adorable sweet boy my Tanner is. My Pearl would have loved him.
My Pesto has a lady friend but there is quite an age difference. He squawks at every little sound he hears. However, your video of all your lovely babies helps keep my noisy boy calm & much much quieter. Thank you. Love seeing all the birds. They are beautiful!
John Doe that’s why I love cardinals so much- and why I want a cockatiel myself. Blue jays are cool too as they have (not quite as powerful as a cardinals pointy hairdo) but close. Sorry I explained that bad I haven’t slept in awhile ahah. There are other awesome crested birds too. I live in Toronto Ontario so I doubt I will ever see one but I would love to see a stellers jay, they’re like blue/black cardinal jays! (They’re not red but the cardinal part comes from their awesome crest
I've been owned by several cockatiels and the crests just get me--little mood barometers, giving away their thoughts and plans (as in Red Alert, I'm Gonna Freak, or flattening out--Cut It Out, Sucka, or I'll Bite). I like it best when the birds think they're hiding from you but the crests stick out from behind their hiding place--nutty. Oh, and I saw a Stellar's Jay once stealing food off a picnic table in a California park--bold and beautiful.
John Doe haha yeah! I know what you mean- and you had a bunch of cockatiels over the years ? you’re lucky! one day I’ll have some cockatiels of my own and will be able to appreciate their crests not just through a screen. That sounds funny/cute about tiels thinking they’re hidden but their crest is still visible.
But it's also sad. I had several in a row that didn't live very long, despite good and informed care (the first one lived 15+ years, so I more or less knew what I was doing). Biggest moral: DO NOT GET A BIRD UNLESS YOU LIVE NEAR A CERTIFIED AVIAN VET! Most states are lucky to have between 1-5 of them. All of Maryland has FIVE, all concentrated in the north (over 2 hours from where I lived). I now live in western NYS, and there is ONE about 40 minutes down the Thruway that I can trust . . .
So true Leo loves watching youre videos every time i jump on line my bird flys and walks around my desk back and forth waiting for me to turn it to youre channel ones i turn off he flys away. Thank you for the videos. And by for Cocktails are the best period

Very thoughtful. Really don't like keeping birds in cages. they need some stimulation to be happy and reach their maximum potential. Ever read the booklet, Johnathan Livingston seagull.? We let him out most days to exercise his wings. Separately, would somehow like my Cockatiel to say something besides whistle. Maybe he will pick up a few new sounds.

My fiancée has a cockatiel (Kurt Cocobain) and this video got him vocalising, bouncing around, super excited. Rad video thanks
Unfortunately we came home and found him passed away in his cage shortly after I posted that. Your video brought him some joy before he went
So sorry to hear that.
There's just something about those crests. A bird is incomplete without a crest.

Yep, I do.
What's it called
Turquoisine. It is a grass parrot from Australia.

Is the red headed Moorhen native to NZ if so is it a rehab birdie? Thought native species required a license to keep?

I have a cockatiel lile the white face 1 in the video he talks land whistles . He even calls the cat but they ignore him but when the cats leave the room he hollers but when they return he says " oh my baby kitty or pretty bird."
I don´t understand why are these korelas so trusting and peaceful. Ours (one female) is curious about everything, constantly shitting on almost everything and everywhere, pecking into everything and examinating things if it is possible to tear is, destroy it, divide it or damage it (no matter if it is harder wooden doors or painted wall!) and most of the time during being let out from the cage she wants to be on a highest place in the room from which see sees everything and has a safe feeling that no one is higher than her (especially predators she is expecting to come from above). Also I must mention that she did two attemps to peck into an eyes. One was when getting introduced to guinea pig, when she saw his black eyes and though I don´t know what it is but I got nuts when I heard that and second time when she was at my girlfriends head. Luckily I wasn´t present to that situation but I sad if I saw that I would hit that bird in a second when I would saw attacking someones eye. Sounds weird or agressive but to jab out and eyes of any other living being is inadmissible.
Noises she makes are almost the same or let´s say 4-5 types while 1 or 2 are really noisy like hell, like she was facing an attempt to being killed. The truth is that she is almost all the time in cage but during spring, summer and autumns the cage is being put out to the garden where she can see and hear other birds. We have not much time to spend with her and also next reason is that after hard day at work I can not bear that constant screaming of this bird. Yeah looks cute, funny, etc. who wouldn´t love that animal but I can´t stand constant noises of this bird as they are repeating in 15-30 seconds interval. :-( But it seems like an aviary is best solution where the birds have enough of space and separate place where they can fly, have some wild growing plants what makes them happy a lot. I must admit that korela and also other birds are not for someone who has got a few time to make a bond with them and to offer them a space like this.
