I’m seeing all of your feedback on the video format guys. Thank you for not just grilling me for trying something new, I haven’t seen anyone get mad - only offering constructive feedback which is great. I’ll re-evaluate the format for the live reactions - maybe this could mean just removing some of the overlays and not paying attention to the chat until I’ve paused the music? We’ll figure out what works best. Cheers, and happy St. Patrick’s day 🍀❤️
Vektor- recharging the void
Sea sleeper- mountain carver
Slugdge- salt thrower
Musts!
Interesting choice, not many people react to this one
Since you asked, here are some songs that IN MY OPINION, are on par with Ghost of perdition: "Bleak", "Harvest", "The Moor", "Master's Apprentices", "The Lotus Eater", "Burden", "Lovelorn Crime". Also most of the songs on the Damnation album. personally, I would love for you to react to "Burden" (it has only clean vocals), or "Master's Apprentices" (one of the grooviest songs of Opeth).
man this album is such a masterpiece. one of my favourites of all time for sure. the solo parts in this tracks are beyond stellar.
Man, The Leper affinity, Hessian Peel, Demon of the Fall, Masters Apprentices, The Funeral Portrait, all of them bangers
Love to see some more Opeth
Yes Thomas!🤞🏼
Awesome you are back on Opeth!, I think you will like "The Grand Conjuration" or "Master's Apprentices".
"The Baying of the Hounds", " The Grand Conjuration", "Serenity Painted Death", or if you wanted to knock out Opeth and Steven Wilson in one swoop: "Bleak".
Karnivool - Deadman
🤘
I'm so happy to see people reacting to these kind of Opeth songs. This song is incredible. If you're interested in older Opeth songs, you should definitely check out "The Amen Corner", "Demon of the Fall", "The Apostle in Triumph" and "To Bid Your Farewell".
If you like prog, you should go to "White Cluster".
We definitely need moar 'Peth!
Still laughing at the dude with opeth in his name missing two songs XD
The Moor and Master's Apprentices is a must!!!
Nice! How about Opeth - The Lotus Eater, and Haken- Veil
Finally, back to Opeth! You should check out Demon Of The Fall next
These songs bro I swear the skills displayed wooooow
Fiiiiiiinally!!!!
lip synching the vocals whilst watching your reaction right now... gosh, it always makes me so happy to see a human being reacting to Opeth the way I do! Since your questions already have been answered, I leave you her and will go on enjoying your other reactions :)
10:30 Grand Conjuration I would say. Opeth are very melodic in their prog and death which probably isn't your thing, but Grand Conjuration is very technical and polyrhythmic. It's on Ghost Reveries.
Yes agreed. He does not seem to be in to the melodic stuff that much, so Grand Conjuration would be better suited I think. That's why I also recommend Heir Apparent
Finally some Opeth!
Master’s apprentices and Porcelain Heart are great songs to check out
Please do the intro track and Silent Life from Rivers of Nihil album Where Owls Know My Name. The intro track continues straight to Silent Life and is very athmospheric build up to one of the nastiest grooves I've ever heard. Without that intro Silent Life starts kind of out of nowhere so I always want to hear the calm build up to it also.
Cool format man. As others has mentioned Bleak and Masters would be somewhat equal to Ghost, perhaps even Moon Above, Sun Below. More groovy than heavy tho. Cheers!
Off of my favorite opeth album.... probably because it was my first death metal album
Yes, The Baying of the hounds!!!!
Nice choice 👍
I made it in one of your videos. Sweeeet \m/ that was a fun stream. ♥
Aloha Drew! Enjoyed your stream the other day. To me, Opeth is my favorite band and the tracks are addicting because it's this gorgeous progressive piece with only like ONE moment of total groove or a hook. Keeps you listening to the whole song just for that one euphoric moment. Here are the tracks that I think fit what you're looking for the most.
Bleak (promise youll love) Porcelain Heart Burden Demon of the Fall (personal favorite) Grand Conjuratiuon Dirge for November
This was one of the first songs I ever heard of theirs. Kind of an obscure one, too. Good stuff
Edit: Akerfeldt was the main songwriter for this album (as he had been for the 4 albums before). Lindgren and Akerfeldt used to split solos pretty much 50/50. Akesson has been the other guitarist since Lindgren left in 2007. Just some background.
u always react to my fav bands! More Prog!
I didn't expect Opeth to return to this channel, awesome tho!
N E V E R M O R E. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that you've gone so deep into this metal journey and still haven't listened to anything by Nevermore. This Godless Endeavor, The river dragon has come, Dead Heart in a Dead World, The obsidian conspiracy, just pick one and you'll understand.
Heavy songs of Opeth to react - Master’s Apprentices, Advent,Forest of October,Demon of the fall, Dirge for November
Soft ones -To bid you farewell, Harvest,Will o the wisp,In my time of need,Burden,Lovelorn crime etc
What is that vest you’re rocking? Lol is it somehow connected to the music?
Forgot to mention in video dude, Woojer Vest if you're interested: www.woojer.com/?ref=9QHioWG-ZY_hB
Lá fhéile Phádrig, mo chara. Opeth are one of those bands that, I tink are great at what they do, and enjoy getting into their tunes via videos like this. But at the same time, I dont listen to 'em much at home meself, even though I know they are excellent at their craft. Again here, plenty of nice exotic turns and textures to smooth into and swing out of. Different atmospheres and storytelling via the scene and sound changes, all flowing naturally into and from eachother. The more mystical, eastern flavoured music during the intro reminded me too, of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir"- those exotic tones. Have a safe Paddy's day, lad.☘☘🤘
Still Life and Blackwater Park are widely considered their best albums from metal fans (I would agree tbf). They have much more death metal influence which is probably why you're not as much a fan, whereas Ghost Reveries (2005) is much more prog and up your alley. Ghost Reveries is still a masterpiece, although some fans consider it too clean and overproduced compared to their older stuff, but it's all about taste. Grand Conjuration from Ghost Reveries is more your thing.
Underrated
Heir Apparent doesn't get the attention it deserves here on RUclips. Dark, aggressive and groovy riffs on level with Ghost of Perdition but added with some quick blasts to it. No clean vocals though but I still think you'd like it if Ghost of Perdition is more your style.
If you want something more akin to Ghost of Perdition, I would suggest The Drapery Falls & By the Pain I see in Others (which never gets requested BTW). Also, you might like some even older Opeth, give The Amen Corner a try. Ghost of Perdition is definitely not my fave Opeth song, Blackwater Park & Deliverance title track are tops IMO.
The grand conjuration might be right up your alley.
Baying of the hounds, Heir apparent or moonlapse vertigo
Hello drew and have you thought about starting your own podcast in the future
My live stream has pretty much been my podcast for the past while man. Feel free to join up some time if you’re looking for long form content and conversation etc. Cheers 🤞🏼
okay that good and have you seen wonderwomen 2 movie and to all the boys i’ve love movie and coming 2 america movie and marvel wandavision show and bridgerton show on nextflix and what do you think of the super bowl game and the halftime show with the weekend couple weeks ago
The best part of Beneath the Mire imo is the "Lost love of the heart" part including the keyboard/guitar duet which is such a long, winded melody with no repetition whatsoever but it sounds totally logical like it absolutely has to be that way. I love it :)
Heir Apparent
Mate I think you should listen to all the 13 albums, especially now that you have more progressive culture, they are pure talent and genius, but though to get into especially if you listen to them when you are not an "expert", still happy you brought them again in the channel
Have you done Bleak? Moonlapse Vertigo?
Opeth - The Grand Conjuration
*This is on Ghost Reveries record, and it is an absolute beast of a song! Heavy af and crazy riffs.. do it.
Hey !! I thought this guy died
and awww the vests are out of stock lol 🥺
Hey mate. I would love to see you react to END- pariah. Try not to snap your neck lol.
Ps love that Opeth is back 🤘🏼🪐
3:00 best moment ever
Requesting "Origin of Escape" by Monuments on every video til it happens - DAY 19

Power Trip - Divine Apprehension
Power Trip - Hornet’s Nest
Power Trip - Crucifixation
OMG I MISS SEE YOU LISTEN OPETH DOIT MORE
One of Opeths finest! Please try Haken - Veil!
Love me some Opeth! You should listen to their song, White Cluster some time. It’s one of my favourites by them and it’s super underrated
To bid you farewell next pls
whats that chess device?, what does?, cause i see you touching your chess, i don't know if it is about that
Plz include the YT link of the song in you video
Amon Amarth - War of the Gods
Amon Amarth - Free Will Sacrifice
Amon Amarth - Valhall Awaits Me
This song gets forgotten most of the time so I'm glad to see it gets some attention. Definitely not the best song of the album. This whole album is epic still. Baying of the Hounds is a favorite of mine.
Vektor- recharging the void
Sea sleeper- mountain carver
Slugdge- salt thrower
HESSIAN PEEL!!!
Have you done the really NEW stuff yet? All Things Will Pass is....beautiful.
Try out my brothers band Descend. Their latest album is sooo awesome! Check their song The Deviant! Or Loch Vostoks Disillusion!
Bro I like your Opeth reactions but imo while reacting you have to get rid of the things that like chat etc. Because you dont / cant focus the song. I think you miss a lot of part of this song.
Dream Theater.
The count of tuscany.
Man moaning to Opeth on stream.
those guys thinking fred is on this album :(
Periphery Stranger Things
I sure hope you get the likes you need for more Opeth. They're such a great band.. and you know how much I dislike growling. With Opeth though, I can deal with it. Of course I still prefer the all clean vocals that are in In Cauda Venenum & Sorceress albums. To me they're just as epic as their music from the early years.
Serenity Painted Death may be one that hits you the way you want. It isn't growl free though.
Anyway, please keep trying with them, especially tracks from the 2 albums I mentioned above. 🤘
Love that you’re reacting to more Opeth, but I’m not at all a fan fan of the new concept, or whatever I should call it...
Distracting screen and the whole vest thing (and the non-music related talking throughout the songs) adds even more distraction, but hey, it may just be me becoming more of a grumpy old fart🙂
Anywho, keep ‘em coming👍
You are more focus on the chat and other things than the music itself, I'm sure you missed half of the song, get rid of distractions.
Need to find a balance I agree! Definitely didn’t miss half of the song though dude.
ridiculous thumbnail xD
You've gone a bit OTT old mate🤔noisey back ground, sub counter?all the best tho,U know what ya doing old boy👌
If you emos think Motionless in White is metal, give these guys a listen!!
You lost me man. I've watched a good chunk of your videos, for your actual musical reaction to tunes by bands like Opeth and other tasty morsels. I instantly clicked this vid when I saw the tune. Seems like you've turned into kind of a video game - with scrolling chat and banners at the top and the bottom, everything is nice and polished and clean... hard to stay focused, yourself included. I'm only six and a half minutes into this video and I tapped out. You're not even listening anymore. You're glancing at the screen for chat updates, etc. To each their own. Your channel is obviously moving forward which is great. However in my eyes, you're now missing the point. You're no longer listening. You're barely even hearing. Huge difference.
That was really well put Craig. It’s an old school thing. When I show someone a some and I have half their attention I usually just say forget it.
I’m listening man. It’s new to me as well, I’ll adjust and do what the people want.
The next few videos will remain in this format because that’s how they were recorded - next time I sit down to film on stream I’ll re-evaluate. Thanks for the comment though bro I appreciate the feedback❤️🤞🏼
Drew, I'm all for twitch - but I hate this style on youtube because you talked a lot of the way through it, and when you did it was facing off camera. Facing off camera because you were engaging/talking to another audience. You even said yourself, you were finding it hard to ignore the chat in the video.
It's not a big thing I realise, but how I see it is I went from watching someone react to a song for the first time to watching someone listen to a song for the first time while they talk to a bunch of people 🤷♂️
I feel like Drew is reacting more to the vest than the music. Quite annoying.
You seem distracted wit hthat thing on, more analytically speaking. Also listen to the songs for what it is, instead of seeking something in a track that already exists in another track.
Haven't checked in on your channel in a while. Honestly not feeling the live twitch format here. Too many distractions for you between the chest harness and the live chat. I'm over half way through this and you've yet to say anything about the actual music. Seems like the music isn't really the focus.
