I just found your podcast today and, after binge watching 4 episodes, i gotta say it's one of the best in this genre. So much useful and fascinating info with a relaxed conversational delivery. If Joe Rogan hasn't interviewed you two yet, he really should. Thanks for producing this great show guys.

I wonder if anyone here can recall the Terrance Makena talk about going on a " heroic " dose and advised to have cannabis on hand to calm down the trip if needed?

Loved the Valentina and Maria Sabina shout outs and recognition of our misogynistic culture 😊. Also a fan of the destigmatization concept and reframe of the “war on drugs” to really be a “war on people.” Nice work!

Our culture is currently in the habit of crediting people who aren't responsible for good things as being responsible for good things, it's crazy making.
It's a pretty complex issue and isn't the responsibility of "men". Men are actively and openly being degraded in our society, they are treated as worthless and their very high suicide rates speak to that. 3 out of 4 suicides are men and that isn't because they can't share their feelings, it's because their feelings are dismissed at every level.
The current issue we have is a lot of lying is going on and for some reason a large number of people applaud that as long as the lying is what they want to hear.
There's a lot of beauty and joy in loving the truth.
Men and women, all of us, are happier when we are *all* being valued and loved and everyone is appreciated for what they bring to the table and met with compassion for for their failures.

      Hi Rosie,
Nice comment. I know Reid and Steve personally and the comment about misogyny is related to a personal issue we have discussed related to the high rates of sexual abuse by psychedelic therapists within the psychedelic medicine field and in response to their direct quote in this podcast. It is not meant to be a blanket statement against men who I am a big fan of. While I do believe that misogyny is alive and well in our culture and around the world, I also believe heartful men who support women exist and are growing in numbers. I’m grateful to have many of these awesome men in my life and sounds like you have many in yours too. Congrats!
You’d also be right to point out that women can also be guilty of bad behavior and holding the genders equally accountable for bad behavior is a good practice.
Thank you also for drawing attention to the rates of suicide in men. While women actually attempt suicide at much greater rates than men, you are correct, men are more often successful. This is because men are more likely to choose surely lethal means via firearm than women who are more likely to try overdose and various other methods.
As a daughter of a father who completed suicide, I was inspired to pursue my career in psychiatry to save our fathers (and our mothers).
I am a big fan of the truth and make a habit of living my life in accordance with it. I agree- there is much joy in liberation in being free to share the truth and not letting the lies, manipulation, or pressure of others hold you back! I hope you create a similar joy in your life.
Much love and respect to you.
      In kindness,
      Heather
