I’ve owned my 99 C2 cab for 9 months now…loving every minute of it.
I honestly prefer the older 911 design to the modern ones. I was fortunate enough to pick up a black 2002 Carrera 6 spd Manual Coupe. Just about every option and original window sticker. Had just over 30k miles on it. Got it pre pandemic for around 20k USD. The market had hit bottom and the fear of the pandemic lowered prices even more. It is supposed to be an investment. However I'm not sure I'd ever want to sell it. Congrats on your purchase!
Great video guys. I am on my 3rd 996 having owned a Cab, Turbo and now a Coupe. All great cars.
Wow you have experience them all, I guess it’s a 996 GT3 next 😉
Congratulations, Rob! Fulfilled my dream of buying a 996 a few years ago, as well. It's so true that the car finds you. I was searching for one all over the country and turns out my neighbor down the street was selling his. Jumped on it right away. Crazy how that works. Greetings from California!
Agree on the point that modern 911s are bloated although perhaps i’d exclude the 997 from that point. I’ve moved away from 911s now and into Caymans just because of the feeling that it’s a pure drivers car rather than a sports executive. Hope you enjoy and thumbs up to Invictus
Also shows the importance of the relationship with your dealer. Often think that for most part the salesperson thinks of it as a transaction not seeing enough how much of a life event it is for the customer
Thanks Jon for sharing here your thoughts with us. We learn from our audience here as some have lived with Porsche’s all their life.
I will have to agree that a 996 might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I personally love the 997 shape and how they drive. The Cayman are definitely drivers focused and a thrill to drive.
Lastly thank you for highlighting the importance of relationship with your dealer. People sometimes forget that more than money, the human interaction and bond is as important if not more important.
It doesn't get any better, I've had my one for just over two years now and look back in ore every time I park up!! 996 forever 🦆🍳
amen brother ! 👍
:) nice to hear this. Lovely to know that it puts a smile on your face

I’ve the 3.6 C4 , I love the low down grunt and the kick in the back on acceleration . A 996 is truly addictive motoring.
Hey Here Torsten from Germany ..👋🏼
So great to see that the 996 got a good home now to a guy that really appreciates having one !
Awesome authentic Video from that dude !
You gave him the chance for his dream come true !
My story would be almost similar to this person in regards of bying My Porsche 996.1
I could watch a 996 video like this every day 😍
Thnx 👍🏽
Hello Torsten,
Thank you my friend from Germany. We are happy with finding it a good home, it deserves it.
For us it is enjoyable to make these videos and let the customers take charge of their experience.
I am so pleased to hear of your story, would love to see you visit us, you are ever in England.
Wishing you well my friend. Much love and respect ❤️😊
I purchased my 1999 silver 996.1 coupe back in 2010 being the second owner, and have 105k now and have thouroughly enjoyed it ever since, and expect to keep it as long as I can. It's all stock and is a tiptronic and I like the ability to shift manually with the paddles or just drive in automatic when I am in heavy traffic which happens alot here in Boston (U.S.A.) My wife doesn't drive a manual, and didn't have any ambition to learn, which was another reason that went into purchasing with a tip. No plans to do the IMS upgrade as it has the dual row bearing and has been driven often for all it's life. Most pleasurable car I've ever owned and the best choice I ever made buying😊
It's been our pleasure reading your feedback here :) so glad to hear that you 1999 996.1 and with the dual row bearing it doesn't need to be changed. They are not at risk at all. Wishing you well my friend and so glad to know that you enjoyed this video
Pure mechanical joy these
Absolute joy to drive one of these :)
Great 911 996.1
Thank you ☺️
Got my 996.1 one year ago with 27K miles, today it's 32K. Didn't think I would like it as much as my NSX, as different as it is it's equally enjoyable. You can feel the engineering integrity built into this car. Porsche's future was riding on it and they came through. Would take the 996.1 with the large dual row bearing over the 997, and even the larger newer 911's, they're more engaging than PDK and all that techno garbage. Enjoy it!
I cant believe it!! I've literally sold my 986 for the same car in the same colour hahaha I know how this guy feels...enjoy my friend
Aww such a small world and I can't believe both of you were on a similar journey. Thank you and have a lovely time :)
Great video, really enjoyed it. I have a 996.2 cab...and it is a weapon...My Mercedes C class premium sport doesn't hang about...but the porsche is like a rocket and mine is only a carrea 2
Bought my 996.2 Targa 5 years ago. One of the best decisions I ever made. The 996 is small, nimble, and engineered so well. And they are STILL for now an incredible bargain. My guess is that will not be the case for much longer
It looks like its all over the world the same :-) I am also in that age and I am looking now for 5 years for a 996 . Should have baught it earlier, pricesare high at the moment, but what should I say in 2 weeks I will collect my 996 C2 and I agree absolutely with Rob. It was my dream car and it is my dream car and I will have problems to sleep next 12 Day until I get it. Rob drive carefully and have a lot of fun with that very nice and special car . Greets from Germany Nielsson
wow!
Much appreciated 😊
Great video and insight guys 👍
Thank you ☺️. I hope you are well my friend.
Great video thanks
Thanks for watching 😊
It’s nice to see the GF sharing the experience
Agreed :)
i can see you love the car, and I do too as the owner of a 3.4 Carrera Manual. Think you talk too much if I'm honest
Congrats!
Thanks Seamus 😊
I think I heard the buyer say this 996.1 has the sport exhaust. Can you clarify if it has the OEM sport exhaust? It sounds amazing. I just purchased the OE sport exhaust to put on my 3/98 996.1 so I'm hoping the answer is yes :)
Congratulations- I know the feeling. I've a base '99 C4. Factory maintained @100K on the clock. Never disappoints, never leaving my key rack.
Thanks ☺️ appreciate it ❤️. Beautiful to drive and the raw characteristics of the 996 is incredible
996 I'm guards red here with few updates but kept the classic but modern look.
Superb 👌. Guards Red is definitely one of our favourite colours 😍
updated side markers, center caps but not much else. It is smaller than what we see today, but it's still a Porsche and not something else like we see. I do believe the designer Pinky Lai was a visionary and I think his design is more appreciated these days unlike the 996 was in the past. Thx for the video!
Tell the new owner there is an emissions certificate in the history file from Porsche Stuttgart, showing the emissions levels for ULEZ exemption. He just needs to send the likes of tfl and other city emissions councils, a copy of the certificate and they will reclassify his car as ULEZ exempt. The new owner can thank me later for saving him a lot of money :)
Thanks James, really appreciate this. Honestly I didn’t know this was possible. I have sent your message to the new owner, he is very happy. Can this be done for every 996?
Nice story. Made me smile. So many people including myself got the itch as a first memory in childhood. :)
Thank you and glad you liked it
Great video! I bought a 2021 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet almost a year ago for 219,500$ Best thing i did in my life probably after i got a Job, Im 22 years old right now and i have a 2021 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet as i said, and i forgot when but i purchased a Porsche GT3 like 1,5 Year ago and did not regret that at all. Living my life today with My Mother,Father, Little brother who is gonna turn 12 in May, As i said again Really Good video! Keep up the great and awesome Videos!
Some great cars you got mate
@@mrenigma6274 Thanks :D
Just picked up a 2002 Carrera. It’s a lot more car than anticipated before actually trying one! 911s have always been the best sports car of their day. The 991 GT3 & 997 Turbo S may be peaks but even the lowly 996 is a world class ride!
It is still very capable on public roads
@@invictusporsche one could argue the 996 is even more capable than the later cars…linear powerband and enough to still have fun without immediately reaching excessive speeds.
@@JoJoJokeryou are not wrong. The design of 996 is the only thing that has bright the values down, mechanically they are fantastic cars
@@mrenigma6274 the design is a large part of it, but it's also no longer viewed in isolation. When compared with the 964/993 and 997/991 it's at the bottom of the rung. However those are some of the all-time greatest cars so it's in good company.
Great video!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I bought my 996 1999 C4 on the 07/01/24
Always wanted a 911
Congratulations , hope you are putting many miles on it
Yes I am. Just had the IMs and lots of other things to make it a nicer car.
Front plate upside down in intro 🙄
Love it. I have a 2000 996 Carrera Cabrio manual. Loving every minute of it.
LOVE my 2003 996
Glad to hear. What’s your favourite thing about it?
