Thanks for the great video! All went well on my Capri until trying to unscrew the retainer nut (8:45 in your video). Mine is immovable. I have tried penetrating oil, shocking with a hammer, cheater bar extension on the pipe wrench and heat, all to no avail. Any suggestions?
Hi Gary, Just a question? When tightening the top bolt, you used a bobbejaan to hold the small bracket and tightened the bolt with a spanner. Is there a locking slot in the hole of the small bracket to stop the turning of the shaft as you tightened it? It might fit in the slot on the slot on the shaft of the shock. Mine is just a hole, so it will spin with the shaft as you tighten (worn away maybe) And if i tighten the bolt complete it locks the spring mount bracket to the top chassis mount bracket which in turn makes it a unit and harder to turn the steering, i am under the impression it must be separate (spin) for when you turn the steering, Am i correct? Great video its been a great help!

Real trouble starts when the strut tube nut or threaded insert is rusted in place and already deformed..
A nightmare by any standard.

Which king of taillights on this capri ?
Did you find any insert inside the leg ?
What are the pieces that falls from the legs with oil ?
Is this car based in Jo'berg? I think I saw it at a hotel near O.R. Tambo while I was working in SA.
We are in Cape Town, the car was bought here repaired by us and sent to England, as far as my knowledge goes.
@@vehiclemaintenanceandrepai3790 ah ok, I just wondered it was the same age and colour. Thanks for replying to me. Have a great day!
