Gotta give it to him. I'm a Canucks fan and I'm really rooting for Quinn Hughes for Calder, but Makar's insane. He's gonna win the Calder
From an objective point of view, Hughes is ahead. Makar has waaaay too many secondary assists to win it at this point. Most of his primary assists too are just him giving it to mackinnon who does something with it. His stats are horribly inflated, so as of right now there is a gap between Hughes and makar. Makar is definitely still 2nd in the calder race though
BadBoiFilms nah I doubt that. Unless Hughes keep his scoring pace up and makar slows down. I don’t think people look at secondary assist or how he got the assists, they’re still assists and points. I haven’t see any RUclipsr or sports analyst that says Hughes is leading atm
@@BadBoiFilms lol funny how you claim objectivity when every website and analyst is saying its hands down Makar's trophy to lose. Now I will agree that MacKinnon has made his point total look more impressive, but then you could argue that for anyone. If you watch the Kid play, he is more than just points. I haven't seen much of Hughes, but I would be surprised if Hughes is considered better at D than Makar. One could also argue that 2/3 of Hughes' points are on the PP while less than half of Makar's points occur on the PP. Something to be said for that as well. You're actually the first person I've heard/read say that Hughes is ahead.
@@JJ9782 Yea but they both are in different situations. Right now Avs have Makar and Mackinnon that control majority of the puck possession while hughes has to share the puck with petey, boeser, horvat, miller. I still consider makar the better player but his overall ppg total will decrease once Landeskog and Rantanen get back. He'll definitely be getting alot of 3rd man assists. Its the same with Draistl on Edmonton. When he had the 5 assist game, all of his assists were obtained by giving it to Mcdavid in the neutral zone (except 1 nifty play to kassian). I think offensively it'll be very close but id give edge to Hughes. Canucks pp is ridiculously incredible right now

Mark Rycroft (local TV analyst, who sometimes is the between-the-glass announcer) always says "top shelf, right where mom hides the Landescotch" when Landeskog scores. The enthusiasm is an entire broadcast team thing.
Makar is in a class of his own. He plays solid defense, skates, passes and shoots well. Wow.
Now show these announcers when the other team scores. People can hate on edwards all they want but he still enjoys hockey enough to not sound like his dog was shot after the other team scores.
I invite you to join us for an Avalanche broadcast where you watch the home feed. Moser and McNab are some of the best I've heard. You can listen and make that decision for yourself if they are as bad as Edwards

Well I mean George, your going off highlights. Of other teams goals. The amount of praise and bullshit my avs announcers give the other team is almost ridiculous thorughout the game. They will talk about mcdavid, kucherov, Parise for about 5 min of all great and gritty they are, mostly Peter McNab. The only people that make these comments are people who dont actually listen to the broadcast.

Him and Jack Edwards are the most biased commentators in the NHL. I personally can't really stand either of them.
This is fax. I like the Avalanche, they're my 3rd favourite team, but listening to him if you don't like the Avs would be awful. At least he is a good guy unlike Edwards.

For everybody saying the Avalanche announcers are biased, they are supposed to be. They broadcast through Altitude TV which is a regional broadcasting service. Only Avs fans watch these announcers making them have reason to have bias and boost up the Avs.

Kadri out a whole series with a broken hand. this team was FAR from perfect yet the found a way to win. I think you need to re-evaluate your definition of "perfect"

They won it with a star defenseman out with a broken sternum (Girard), a winger playing with a broken foot (Nichushkin), A Center with a broken hand (Kadri). A goalie who was injured in 1 eye during the first round and couldn't look directly down (Keumper) Relied on backup goaltending during multiple game of different playoff series. Avs didn't have great goaltending compared to Vassy. Please tell me how this is a "perfect" team...
The Matt Grzelcyk the other night was way better than this simple toe drag, they tell you to stay on your feet as a kid, that defense was terrible by Minnesota...

You realize Makar has a lot more goals, a lot more 5v5 assists, and the secondary assists aren't much different between the two...in fact it's one point lol. Quinn mostly puts up points on the powerplay where there's more open ice.
Quinn Hughes...22 games, 2 goals, 15 assists, 12 of 17 points on the PP, and zero game winning goals.
Cale Makar...22 games, 7 goals, 18 assists, 10 of 25 points on the PP, and two game winning goals.
But yeah, Hughes is better than Makar, right?

You obviously have no ability to evaluate hockey talent. You should be able to tell just by watching both players that Makar is on a level now that's beyond Quinn's ceiling, and Makar is just getting better.
