This is a consistently delightful clip. Ms Gillette has long been so underrated. I saw her play Eliza in My Fair Lady and she was fantastic. Too bad she never achieved the level of stardom she so deserved.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Okay, all you MR. PRESIDENT detractors, Anita Gillette proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that in the hands of a skilled actor/sing, Irving Berlin was still writing first class comedy numbers in the 1960's. Gillette's stories about Irving Berlin in this clip are priceless.

The lyrics to that song were so complicated and on point, yet light and seemingly easy with a fine melody that highlighted Anita's voice perfectly. It is that kind of song that made for great musical comedy. In light of recent elections and the scores of Secret Service folk everywhere, the message still holds true and provides light-hearted humor to security issues of today! No one ever talks about Berlin's lyrics... if you listen to any of them, he simply gave the singer great words... and I mean, great vowel sounds and consonants that enhance singability.

Anita Gillette is one of the most underrated stars in the American theater. For over
50 years she's done it all - musicals, comedies, dramas. I still remember her poignant
performance in Neil Simon's CHAPTER TWO where she lost the Tony to Jessica
Tandy in GIN GAME - who was good, but Gillette was better. A REAL "pro", she
saw the handwriting on the Broadway wall and successfully branched out into
character roles in film and television as well as stage. People like Anita Gillette,
Helen Gallagher and numerous others are the backbone of professional American
theater and SHOULD be in the Theater Hall of Fame.

+LieslJones59 I could not agree more! I regret never having seen her in a Broadway show.
