  • Recent breakthroughs in psychedelic therapy have demonstrated the powerful therapeutic effect that drugs like LSD and psilocybin can have on chronic mental illnesses. Additionally, many cultures old and new have used entheogens as tools for spiritual development and discovery. But psychedelics are a double-edged sword: bad trips, HPPD and spiritual damage are all very real potential side effects of undertaking a psychedelic journey.
This panel discussion - To Fathom Hell or Soar Angelic: The Risks and Reward of Psychedelics - brings together Ed Prideaux, an MSc student in psychology and Operations Lead at the Perception Restoration Foundation, who has first-hand experience of HPPD; Tehseen Norani, an expert in psychedelic culture and psychosis; and Joe Welker, a Presbyterian ministerial candidate at Harvard Divinity School and author of the newsletter Psychedelic Candor. They will discuss the relative likelihood of medical, emotional and spiritual risks that accompany psychedelic drug use, and how these negative outcomes might be mitigated.
