  • The former speaker of the Breath of Life television ministry, Brooks is well known among Seventh-day Adventists as an evangelist. His sermons are legendary and widely distributed. He held his first campaign in the early 1950s, while a pastor in Columbus, Ohio. After going on to be senior pastor of the Glenville Church in Cleveland, where he also held campaigns, Brooks became a full-time evangelist for the Columbia Union Conference. In the summer of 1964 he led a major campaign in a large tent in Philadelphia during the "long, hot summer" of urban rioting, defied a plea from the mayor to shut down and still baptized nearly 300 people. He was elected an associate secretary of the General Conference Ministerial Association and from that platform has fearlessly preached the Adventist message around the globe. There are a number of Breath of Life congregations, church plants resulting from evangelism campaigns conducted by Brooks.

LOL - its the CALENDAR that is wrong, Gods Calendar was published in Gen 1:14, so anyone who worships according to the roman pagan papal calendar is actually worshipping the image to the beast.

@@Remnant.Garments7 - Did you even bother to read Eze 46:1-3? If a Sabbath is not one of the 6 working days, then by the exact same logic and reasoning - neither are New Moon Days, right? So how is it that you make a 7 day perpetual week claim that is not biblical, unless you have been indoctrinated by one of the SDA EG White lying cults?
"But yes Sunday is the mark of the beast"
Seriously? Do you ever read anything in your Bible, other than what the SDA church tells you to read? Don't suppose you have ever read Deuteronomy Chapter 6:6,7,8, right? It describes a PRECEPT, whereby the people who OBEY GODS COMMANDMENTS will have a sign or mark on their hand & forehead. So it's a SPIRITUAL MARK or THE SEAL OF GOD (Eph 1:13), because God will only give His Holy Spirit to those who OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS (John 14:15,16,17).
So the Mark of the Beast is simply upon everyone who refuses to OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS. Like you for example, because you refuse to OBEY GODS INSTRUCTIONS about His Calendar that He placed into the heavens above, and then His 2nd Commandment says not to make an IMAGE or ANY LIKENESS of ANYTHING IN HEAVEN ABOVE.... So the roman pagan papal calendar is a FALSE IMAGE - aka IDOL, of what God placed into the heaven above (Gen 1:14). Rome was the 4th BEAST of Daniel and the 1st Beast of Rev 13, and it's IMAGE was the roman pagan Julian calendar, so named after the self proclaimed man god Julius Caesar. He made that IMAGE to honour pagan roman gods like Janus (January) and Thor (Thursday). Don't you know that even saying those names is a Sin according to Joshua 23:7 and Exodus 23:13? Don't you know that the 1st month of Gods Calendar is called ABIB, not January?
Do yourself a favour and run for the hills AWAY FROM THE SDA Church and their offspring cults, and their crazy lying woman prophetess EG White.

Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
THE BOOK OF LAW WAS BLOTTED OUT WHICH JESUS FULFILLED. THE BOOK OF LAW CONTAINED CEREMONIAL SABBATH DAYS, CEREMONIAL ANIMAL SACRIFICES, ETC. THAT'S WHY PAUL SAID THIS: Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days...
Deu 31:24-26 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
    v
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross...
    v
Gal 3:10-11 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the BOOK OF LAW to do them.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
THE MORAL LAW STILL STANDS WHICH IS THE TEN COMMANDMENTS, EVEN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS WAS SEEN IN HEAVEN.
    V
Rev 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple THE ARK OF HIS TESTAMENT: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
    V
Heb 4:8-11 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
For he that is entered into his rest, HE ALSO HATH CEASED FROM HIS OWN WORKS, AS GOD DID FROM HIS. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
    v
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them...
    v
2Co 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, BUT FLESHY TABLES OF THE HEART.
Rom 2:13(For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
    v
James 2:10-12 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
    v
Luk 18:18-20 And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

The Sabbath was given as a day of rest. On the first Sabbath, God stopped his work, drank some pina colada, sat by the pool and admired His creation. He did no work. The Sabbath was given to the children of Israel as a day of rest. Business should be closed on Saturday. Jewish business should be closed on Saturday. Why is keeping the Sabbath important?

    • @christopherjoyce6377

It not Jewish, It was created for all men, Adam and Eve were not Jews, neither were the ones that got the 10 Commandments they were Isrealites/Hebrew. Jew is an incoorect term, because it speaks of the people of Judea/tribe of Judah (this is only 1/12 of all Israel). The term jew is only in the Bible because man interpreted it as that it should be Judean or something to that affect.
It is important to keep the Sabbath, because it is a sign to all people that he is our God. We are spiritual Israelites because we have been adopted/grafted into the family of God

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
what law is the apostle saying we have become dead unto, and before you answer it is the law of sin remember in :1 he said the law binds a woman to a man until death and sin does not bind anyone so guess what law you are become dead unto, if you say the law of Moses it would be wrong also for in Deut. 24 all were allowed to divorce so tell me what law are Christians dead unto???
Now I will ask again your answer concerning what we are delivered from and what is dead.
Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
    here the apostle is still speaking about the law he said we are dead unto and specified we are delivered from the law for it is dead in verse 6 then in :7 he tells us which law he is speaking about and it is the law that teaches THOU SHALT NOT COVET so can you tell me which law teaches thou shalt not covet as you think you have knowledge of God's law, yet I will ask you again the meaning of this statement in;
Hebrews 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
    the Lord said he found fault with the covenant in this verse and refers unto as the first covenant and for this reason he sought to create a second covenant, now which covenant did he find fault with and replaced it with a new covenant, let me give you a clue from;
    Hebrews 9:4 Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;
here he said the tables of the covenant, so I wonder what was in the ark of the covenant on tables that was called a covenant...........mmmmmmmm perhaps Deut. 5:2-3 can solve this for me.
Deut. 5:2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.
oh so these verses are talking about a covenant but which one it dies not say which one in these two verses it only mentioned covenant twice so I will let you read down to understand what covenant he is talking about and you will discover it is the Ten Commandments in stone, so what is the covenant that God replaced that we are dead unto and that we are delivered from............not sure yet, well let me explain it from the point of view of
Jeremiah 31:29-30 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
30But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
    here the prophet said in the new covenant generational curses would not exist, and to this agrees Ezekiel 18:1-4 yet you say nooooooooooooooooo as heaven and earth must pass away first before God can change his law, really is that what you think since you said this statement yet you have not quoted correctly so I will establish the word of God for you;
Mat. 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
you see the Lord said he came to fulfill the law of God and not to destroy it, the word fulfill in Greek means to complete, just look it up in Greek, simple, secondly this next verse said the law of God was only until it would be fulfilled and not after it would be fulfilled, meaning heaven and earth would have to pass away first before the Lord Jesus would fulfill the law of God and this is what he did, he fulfilled it and then magnified the law of God as Isaiah 42:21 agrees now let us listen to the rest of Jeremiah's prophecy
Jer. 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
32Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
33But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
here it is abundantly clear that God was going to make a new covenant, one that did not contain generational curses where the Lord would punish unto the third and fourth generation for he said in the new covenant I will remember their sins and iniquities no more and this is what the Apostle Paul quotes when he said in Hebrews 8:7 that God found fault with the first covenant and replaced it with a second covenant, so today we have the new covenant written in the heart and no longer on tables of stone and for this reason we are ministers of what is written in the heart therefore we cannot preach or teach what is written in stone for it is the ministry of death, for the letter kills 2 Cor. 3:6 here if you read he states the Ten Commandments in stone kills as he said in :3 of that chapter that it is the Ten Commandments he is speaking about, furthermore ask yourself these questions why does the letter kill and why is it called the ministry of death and why are we delivered from it and why is it dead, the reason is simple God has written the law of God in the heart and no longer requires what was written in stone for he has magnified his law therefore you can no longer say adultery is the physical act between two people being intimate but now you must say adultery is looking and lusting and you can no longer teach murder is the physical act of taking someones life but now you must teach hatred is murder 1 John 3:15 and as for the Sabbath you can no longer say that it is from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset but today we are commanded to teach the rest instead of the Sabbath as is taught in Hebrews 4:11 let us therefore labor to enter into that rest, this oxymoron that says we must work to rest and the work implied is keeping the New Testament commandments like carrying a cross, going the extra mile, giving to the poor, turning the other cheek, never asking for things back once you loan them, never swear by your head.................. the Lord Jesus taught 90 commandments in Matthew alone as the Lord Jesus said come unto me all you that labor and are heavy ladden and I will give you rest, the rest is offered to the workers, get it

There are a list of sins in the testament but Sabbath breaking is not part of the list. If the Sabbath was that significant it would of been listed as one of the sins in the new testament. Now I am going to write a counter argument against this sermon because it contains gross errors and pre text for support of the Sabbath.

You can live in error if you chose and without excuse before God. Breaking of anyone of The Laws is sin.
      1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
The Sabbath Commandment was embedded in the heart of the Ten Laws of The Covenant Commandment.
      There is no error here.
      Romans 2:12
      For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
      1 John 2:4
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
      1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
      1 John 1:10
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
      1 John 2:1
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Sabbath keepers failed to understand the different covenants of the bible and their signs. You placed yourself under the bondage of law because you have failed to understand the new covenant.

man shall not live by every word that God wrote by by every word that God spoke, here is the answer the Law was only until Christ would fulfill it Mat. 5:17-18 now it is written in the heart and the rest replaces the Sabbath, nowhere in the New testament are Christians told to obey the Sabbath and nowhere in the New Testament is there a scripture that says breaking the Sabbath is a sin Christ has magnified the Law of God Isaiah 42:21 not just one commandment like adultery but all ten are magnified so why do those Adventist try to keep the fourth commandment literal but spiritualize other commandments because they are stumbling at the rock of offence for Christ is the end of the Law of God, we are delivered from the Ten Commandments written in stone Romans 7:6-7 for anyone who teaches the Ten Commandments written in stone has the ministry of death 11 Corinthians 3:3-9 repent

I suggest you read the book "Ten Commandments twice removed". God's commandments are the blue print for a Christians life. It is not done away with, but the ceremonial laws of Moses are. God's Ten commandment law and Moses law are two completely different things. Moses law was added because they were violating God's moral law. Moses law was a shadow of things to come. Such as Christ sacrifice on his cross. Moses law contained ordinances, and animal sacrifices which were done away with at the cross because Jesus came as a sacrificial lamb to pay the penalty for our sin. Read Matthew 22:37-40. However God's Ten commandments abide still. God's Ten commandment law is how we walk in peace with God, Psalm 119:18,19 "Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from your law. I am a stranger in the earth; Do not hide your commandments from me". Moses law (which is done away with) can never bring us peace before God, neither can it make us righteous. But God through his holy spirit will enable us to keep his commandments that the righteousness of his law may be fulfilled in us. Read the book "Ten Commandments twice removed".

Jesus said he who TEACHES men to break one of the least of these commandments shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever DO and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of God. but all those who preach that we have to sacrifice animals for our sin, are under the ministry of death.

      LaMarcus Thee Encourager
Hi LaMarcus, thank you for your suggestion about this book yet I will comment on your understanding since you mention the Law of Moses is done away with this is very true as it was abolished, nailed to the cross, slain, broken down as the wall of partition Ephesians 2:14-16 & Colossians 2:14-15 but your comment on the Ten Commandments is not true first let me say the law of God is called a covenant in Deut. 5:2-3 but in Hebrews 8:7-8 God said he found fault with the first covenant so he decided to make a second covenant, so if God found fault with what he wrote why do not you also find the same fault that God found? you see the first covenant was the law of God in stone that ministered death and was called the letter that kills. 2 Cor. 3:6 this is what the Apostle Paul said we are delivered from for it is now dead Romans 7:6-7 then he gives the reason we are delivered from what was in stone so we could obey the new covenant in the heart also called the second covenant, the new covenant is the same Ten Commandments only magnified according to Isaiah 42:21 although the prophet Jeremiah said it would not contain generational curses 31:29-30 and to this the prophet Ezekiel agrees 18:1-4 the Lord Jesus said he did not come to destroy the law of God but to fulfill it, then in Mat.5:18 he said the Law of God was only until it would be fulfilled, did you hear that statement it was only until, the word until means it is no longer after it is fulfilled for the word fulfill in the Greek means to complete and only the Lord Jesus could complete the Ten Commandments in stone afterwards magnifying all Ten Commandments now during the OT dispensation the Ten Commandments in stone were literal so the meaning of adultery was the physical act and the meaning of murder was the physical act and the meaning of the Sabbath was to stop working from Friday to Saturday sunset but since the Lord Jesus magnified the law of God the meaning of adultery is now look and lust and the meaning of murder is now hatred and the Sabbath is magnified to the rest which the Apostle Paul wrote we must labor to enter rest, this oxymoron which states when you keep commandments like taking up a cross, witnessing, turning the other cheek, going the extra mile............your spirit comes into rest while you work and this is what the Lord Jesus meant when he said come unto me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest, therefore whosoever teaches the Ten Commandments in stone is a minister of death 2 Cor. 3:6 for he is teaching the letter that kills and not the spirit of the word of God can you tell me why the Lord Jesus never said man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that God wrote, no he said by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, so it is not the written word but the spoken word as the Lord Jesus magnified the law of God and so should every Christian follow him and be a preacher of life and not death

Lyle Lee Yes men shall live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. God spoke his word in Exodus 20:1 "And God spake all these words saying"(Concerning his Ten Commandments). So yes it is the spoken word.
The Word of God says in Jeremiah 51:6-7 "Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke. The earth will grow old like a garment, and those who dwell in it will die in like manner; but my salvation will be forever, and my righteousness will not be abolished. Listen to me, you who know my righteousness, you people whose heart is my law, Do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their insults.
But Jesus did not say only until the law of God would be fulfilled, but Moses law. The Bible does not mention that God's law written in stone was done away with in Romans 7:6-7 but rather that our old sinful nature was set free from sin.
Romans ruclips.net/video/oU7XcYXeWv8/видео.htmlm12s "Therefore the law (God's Ten commandments law) is holy, and the commandment holy, just and good."
Have you notice that the commandments of God are a reflection of his character? Holy, just and good.
Paul says this in Romans ruclips.net/video/oU7XcYXeWv8/видео.htmlm13s "Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin"
Hebrews never said that God found fault with the law but he found fault with them (the people of Israel) Hebrews 8:8 says "Because finding fault with them, He says: Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah". Then He goes on to say that he will right his laws in our mind and write them on our hearts.
God's law brings joy and peace not death. Psalm 19:7-8 says "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statues of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
So the law of God (Ten Commandments) are pure, right, holy, just, it makes wise, perfect, sure, good, and brings joy. The law of God (Gods Ten commandment law) keeps us from harm. Psalm ruclips.net/video/oU7XcYXeWv8/видео.htmlm11s "morever by them your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward. So God's commandments that bring joy and happiness at the same time can't bring death, and in teaching God's law that brings Joy and happiness is not teaching death.
Paul said, Romans ruclips.net/video/oU7XcYXeWv8/видео.htmlm14s "For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. Rather it is a mans sinful nature that keeps him from doing what God's law requires. But, Romans 8:4 gives us a promise "That the righteous requirement of the law (God's Ten commandments law) might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit".
God will enable us to obey his commandments by his holy spirit.
But I always have hope that you would read the book "Ten commandments twice remove". After all the new heavens and new earth will be governed by them.

Be not deceived, no one changed the Sabbath, the SDA teaches that it has, but it has not. This teaching only lines up with their false doctrines, nothing more.

Obviously you DID NOT listen very well !! Quote the exact scripture that says God rested, blessed and sanctified any other day. Surprising Admissions About the Sabbath and Sunday
Leaders and authorities from many religious denominations candidly acknowledge that Saturday is the biblical Sabbath day and that there is no biblical basis for Sunday observance. Notice below some of their admissions that the change was made by the Roman Catholic Church and not on the basis of biblical instruction.
      Roman Catholic admissions
“Nowhere in the Bible do we find that Christ or the Apostles ordered that the Sabbath be changed from Saturday to Sunday. We have the commandment of God given to Moses to keep holy the Sabbath day, that is the 7th day of the week, Saturday. Today most Christians keep Sunday because it has been revealed to us by the [Roman Catholic] church outside the Bible” (“To Tell You the Truth,” The Catholic Virginian, Oct. 3, 1947, p. 9).
“But since Saturday, not Sunday, is specified in the Bible, isn’t it curious that non-Catholics who profess to take their religion directly from the Bible, and not the Church, observe Sunday instead of Saturday? Yes of course, it is inconsistent; but this change was made about 15 centuries before Protestantism was born, and by that time the custom was universally observed. They have continued the custom, even though it rests upon the authority of the Catholic Church and not upon an explicit text in the Bible” (Dr. John O’Brien, Faith of Millions, pp. 543-544).
“You may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify” (James Cardinal Gibbons, Faith of our Fathers, 88th ed., p. 89).
“Q: Which is the Sabbath day?
“A: Saturday is the Sabbath day.
“Q: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?
“A: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea, transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday” (Peter Geiermann, The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, 1957, p. 50).
      ------- Protestants follow Rome’s lead
“The Sabbath was binding in Eden, and it has been in force ever since. This fourth commandment begins with the word ‘remember,’ showing that the Sabbath already existed when God wrote the law on the tables of stone at Sinai. How can men claim that this one commandment has been done away with when they will admit that the other nine are still binding?” (Dwight L. Moody, Weighed and Wanting, pp. 47-48).
Baptist: “There was and is a commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day, but that Sabbath day was not Sunday. It will however be readily said, and with some show of triumph, that the Sabbath was transferred from the Seventh to the First day of the week … Where can the record of such a transaction be found? Not in the New Testament-absolutely not. There is no scriptural evidence of the change of the Sabbath institution from the Seventh to the First day of the week …
“To me it seems unaccountable that Jesus, during three years’ discussion with His disciples, often conversing with them upon the Sabbath question … never alluded to any transference of the day; also, that during forty days of His resurrection life, no such thing was intimated …
“Of course I quite well know that Sunday did come into use in early Christian history . . . But what a pity that it comes branded with the mark of Paganism, and christened with the name of the sun-god, adopted and sanctioned by the Papal apostasy, and bequeathed as a sacred legacy to Protestantism” (Dr. Edward Hiscox, before a New York ministers’ conference, Nov. 13, 1893, as reported in the New York Examiner, Nov. 16, 1893).
“There was never any formal or authoritative change from the Jewish seventh-day Sabbath to the Christian first-day observance” (William Owen Carver, The Lord’s Day in Our Day, 1940, p. 49).
Lutheran: “But they err in teaching that Sunday has taken the place of the Old Testament Sabbath and therefore must be kept as the seventh day had to be kept by the children of Israel … These churches err in their teaching, for Scripture has in no way ordained the first day of the week in place of the Sabbath. There is simply no law in the New Testament to that effect” (John Theodore Mueller, Sabbath or Sunday, pp. 15-16).
Methodist: “Take the matter of Sunday. There are indications in the New Testament as to how the church came to keep the first day of the week as its day of worship, but there is no passage telling Christians to keep that day or to transfer the Jewish Sabbath to that day” (Harris Franklin Rall, Christian Advocate, July 2, 1942, p. 26).
      Does it matter to God?
Jesus Christ condemned the practices of the religious leaders of His day, saying: “ ‘In vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men … All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition” (Mark 7:7-9)
According to Christ’s own statements, it is possible to worship Him in a way that does no good-that is, it is in vain. God does not give us the choice of how to worship Him-only whether we will worship Him according to His instructions or not. What, then, must He think of those who ignore His commands regarding the Sabbath, substituting instead a different day?
A Christian is someone that follows Christ. Yet, Christ kept the Sabbath holy, the seventh day, as was His custom. How can anyone claim to be a Christian and not keep the Sabbath? Will you follow Christ, or man?
      Ps 89:31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
Ps 119:115 Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.
Pr 4:4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
Pr 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
Just because he rose on Sunday DOES NOT MAKE THE DAY HOLY !!! If you had gone on a trip, and then returned, would you hide out for several days before letting your friends know you were safe? Jesus knew HIS disciples, and knew they were worried and afraid. That is why HE went to them on the same day HE arose. It DOES NOT MAKE THE DAY HOLY !!! Jesus rested, blessed and sanctified (made holy) the SEVENTH DAY. God DOES NOT CHANGE !! He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow....
      Denominational Statements on the Sabbath
"The Christian church made no formal, but a gradual and almost unconscious transference of the one day to the other."- F.W. FARRAR, D.D., "The Voice From Sinai," page 167.
"Take which you will, either of the Fathers or the moderns, and we shall find no Lord's day instituted by any apostolical mandate; no Sabbath set on foot by them upon the first day of the week."-PETER HEYLYN, "History of the Sabbath," page 410.
"Merely to denounce the tendency to secularise Sunday is as futile as it is easy. What we want is to find some principle, to which as Christians we can appeal, and on which we can base both our conduct and our advice. We turn to the New Testament, and we look in vain for any authoritative rule. There is no recorded word of Christ, there is no word of any of the apostles, which tells how we should keep Sunday, or indeed that we should keep it at all. It is disappointing, for it would make our task much easier if we could point to a definite rule, which left us no option but simple obedience or disobedience. . . . There is no rule for Sunday observance, either in Scripture or history."-DR. STEPHEN, Bishop of Newcastle, N.S.W., in an address reported in the Newcastle Morning Herald, May 14, 1924.
