Other than that, I don't think you should add "aerial duels" as a weakness on every creative midfielders, it's not relevant at all.

Madrid will take a a few steps back if they replace Di Maria with James Rodriguez. With Kroos specially, Madrid cant change the 433 formation, James will have to learn how to play as a deeper midfielder, like Modric.
Why? Di Maria didn't play as far back, he always went up further then Modric did. James could perfectly play the same role Di Maria did if he were to be the replacement
When you play with the 433, its a bit more complicated as an inside midfielder in that formation, than it is for a right midfielder/winger as it was for Di Maria in the 442. Meaning that James would find it a bit easier to adapt to the Di Maria role in the 442 than the 433. Aside from that, Di Maria has better dribbling skills, i think he is faster, has incredible work ethic, one of the world's best left feet, etc, and James would cost more than what we would see Di Maria for. I also find it unrealistic to bring a new midfielder like Kroos for example, and pay him 6 million a year, and not raise Di Maria's wages which are half that, which is was the press was reporting during the world cup, and now they are taking a step back saying that Di Maria might likely stay. But ya, James and Isco could probably adapt well enough, Isco has things to improve himself.

He can cross, he can shoot, and he can pass like a boss, take a hike clown. LEL.
James can actually play both right wing or left wing and center attacking midfield role, he could even play as a false 9 he's very versatile just as Di Maria is you can check out his Banfield, Porto, Monaco or Colombia games to verify this so I don't think the formation would affect him as much. His only problem when he came to Monaco was that he didn't collaborate as much in defence but Ranieri did a lot of work with him and now he's outstanding he would probably collaborate as much in defence as Di Maria does. The problem with Di Maria is not a financial issue though it's a positional issue. Although it is very true that he did much better last season playing behind the forwards as more of an attacking midfielder role he states that he doesn't feel comfortable playing in that role, he wants to play in Bale's wing where he would possibly score more goals but that's very unlikely to happen. As a Madrid fan I'd hate to see Di Maria leave but I'd hate even more to have someone in the team who doesn't want to be there, The club is always bigger than any player. That being said James would be the perfect exchange, very versatile, he's probably not faster then Di Maria but he's still fast enough to keep up with the counter attacks. I'd have to disagree with Di Maria having a better left foot, I think James has a much better left foot then Di Maria does. James could also bring in a lot of new variables to Madrid's game. In tough games where teams plant the bus at the back such as for example the Champions league final against Atletico, and you need more of a pause, vision, and passing game. James, Kroos as well as Isco could do very well. All in all if Di Maria leaves you're not losing much because James would also have a lot to bring to the table.

Gotze cant play regularly for Bayer because Guardiola loves to roulate with the midfield. And he plays regularly for Germany but most of the time as a sub because Ozil is Lows 1# choice. At Brazil everything is about Neymar, in Germany you have a lot of players who are on the same level as Neymar (Reus,Muller,Ozil) thats why a player like Neymar shines at Brazil and a player like Reus or Gotze does not because Germany has better individual players and at Brazil it is all about Neymar.

He likes to attack off the wing, but if he comes to Madrid, he won't be getting those spots (competing with Ronaldo, Bale, and Di Maria). So he's going to have to adapt to being a true #10.
You do realize that he's been both a number 10 midfielder AND a winger balanced throughout his career right? I doubt that he needs to 'adapt' to being solely a number 10.
FroBoy69Productions Yep, and it's pretty clear to even a casual observer which position he prefers. Great player, but he's not pacy enough to replace Ronaldo or Bale on either wing. All I am saying is that he better get used to never playing in his preferred position.
Indubitably He does have pace, but I agree that it's better off with him focusing mostly on the midfield instead of the wings occasionally. Mind you, there WILL be situations where he 'has' or 'can' make a run up the wing(s), but yeah most of the time Bale and Ronaldo will make it so that he doesn't have to.
James will start ahead of Di Maria on the wing, who mostly plays in midfield for RM now, but Di Maria is probably gone anyway. And personally I think Ronaldo might start playing CF. He's losing his ability to spend all match running down the wing, but can still sprint and turn at pace better than 99% of players, and he's got a good shot. If Ronaldo moves to CF James will get his wing spot. He'll only play #10 if Benzema starts, and both Bale and Ronaldo are fit.
Xtralives Ronaldo's last season was one of his best, he had tendinitis by the end of the season, and now when that is paired with his age, he is suddenly "losing his ability".

Agree with you. James right now is overrated and not worth the 70-80m Monaco want for him. Just because he has a good World Cup doesn't make him one of the worlds best. It's also stupid that Real Madrid are selling Isco and Di María for James. Di María is their only attacker who can actually create chances by dribbling in small spaces. Ronaldo, Bale and James all use/need a large space to hurt the other team.

Why on earth (other than money and a shit agent) did he sign for bloody monaco. Plays in front of minor audiences , in what the 4th or 5th best league in world. Wasn't really up to him, same case with Falcao. Third party agencies that owned partial rights over both Falcao and James (same agent: Jorge Mendez) wouldn't really allow them to choose freely where to go and instead it was to where the agencies would benefit the most out of. Obviously when the Monaco offer came along these agencies didn't hesitate considering the high amount the club was willing to pay for them. Now that 100% of the rights of both players are owned by Monaco negotiations for a new transfer should make more sense.

Not at all. A lot of players get taken advantage of like this. Agents convince players from a younger age or from smaller clubs to associate themselves with third party agencies so that way they can make a jump from a smaller club to a bigger club quicker but the negative effect of it is you don't get 100% say of where you get to go until the association with the TPA are finished. The good thing is that now Falcao and James can make a move to a big club if the opportunity arrives without a problem.

Not worth the price tag one bit. if hes 100 mil, Di maria is 300. Modric and Di maria for me are top attacking mids, AND not to mention perfect for ancelotti's counter attacking system. ALSO not to mention the fact that they have invaluable champions league and la liga expirience, to where James Rodriguez played exceptional at one tournament. Di Maria and Modric have been their entire careers.
