What issues are you having with the county? I work in Pasco and deal with their commercial permitting department pretty regularly and yes, they are a royal pain. I would enjoy trying to help you navigate your roadblocks if you are looking for a hand.

Hill Ward Henderson out of Tampa is who we use. Tim hunt is a managing partner. Not sure they specifically do Agriculture but not sure if that is necessary. If it is necessary, I am sure they will have a local referral who will work with you. They practice corporate, construction, land use/zoning etc etc. They will likely be familiar with Pasco's ways. We are doing a new office building there and it has been BRUUUUTAL. Look on the bright side though, at least you aren't building on Disney property and dealing with Reedy Creek. They are a different animal all together. Shoot me a message if I can help further.

Pete you need to get UV protected plastic for solarizing. An inexpensive way to get it is to repurpose aging greenhouse coverings. The green house coverings gradually lose light transmission so every 3-7 years the plastic is replaced. It is still very usable for solarizing and they are large pieces!

@@kerryharvey6365In Canada the only way it's permitted to live in an RV on private property potter than trailer parks is as on site security. It doesn't cost much to have tanks pumped out every few months and many are economical especially with solar. Got to watch also for solar panel thieves tho. It wouldn't cost much and finding the right person for the security /care taker position, could alleviate so much stress from Pete😢

Hey Pete, what did you want to do with the area that you have the nut sedge?
Ive got a certified organic farm in Australia and know nut grass well!
The organic weed killers here dont kill the nuts, only the foliage. Repeated treatments regularly might tire it out but you have a big fight on your hands doing it that way. Sempra will kill it but its not organic.
My suggestion is to outcompete it. Plant shrubs or trees that will shade it out or try something like sweet potato early in the warm season before the nut grass really kicks off.
Occultation over the summer period might help too, you want the nuts to germinate and die off so you need a permeable cover or drip tape and a good solid piece of landscape fabric, nut grass will push through weed mat.
Id keep it covered for a good 6 months, plant a dense cool season crop and see what happens in the spring. It might take a few summers to get on top of it.

Be very careful with hiring legal counsel from a large firm that has more than one location (especially ones with firms in multiple cities or countries). Those firms are purely focused on billing and will literally end up billing you $5K+ per month if you aren't doing flat-rate billing like X amount for a letter, etc. I was in litigation for 8 year for my small business against various corporations and this is what I learned. You need to find a skilled attorney who works in a solo practice or partnership (LLC or LLP) with ideally less than 4 attorneys total and only 1 location. It's these smaller outfits that are more affordable and give you more attention from skilled attorneys. Definitely get referrals though or vet them through previous clients before hiring them. And, yes, most attorneys want $5-10K as the retainer.

I bought a Mexican Sunflower from you last week. It made it looking great. I left it in the pot in full sun and put a drip hose on it most of the day. The water runs through the pot and waters my Banana tree beside it. I noticed a few minutes ago it has suddenly put on a ton of new growth almost over night. Hang in there brother all is not bad.
We also bought 20 Bamboo plants at $65 per hole. They are in full sun and we drip those also. Every 8 hours for 30 minute and a couple of times for 10 minutes. I had a shoot that I measured at 6" when we bought them 4 weeks ago and now that shoot is 8'.5" tall. In 4 weeks. I was tempted to split them up when I got them but decided to let them become established before messing with them. No loss at this time.

That's a drag. Just to put things in perspective, only 3% of litigants who hired a lawyer win. Hiring a lawyer derogates one's status to ward of the court, child of the province, and non compos mentis - not in one's right mind, which is rational, because of the aforementioned derogation and improbability of winning, because every court official is a servant of the Crown, and they dare not displease their masters by Oath. A litigant who hires a lawyer to represent them faces an executive administrator masquerading as a judge/justice whose function is to uphold the law, while a citizen who presents themselves at Court is protected against the law by said nominal judge/justice/whatever empty title. World of difference. I studied law as a hobby for thousands of hours. Law is the masterful use of magical language. The vocabulary is English but the definitions are often not at all what people think. Good luck, no matter what course you take. You'll need it.

I'm not going to say that you should listen to what any of us have to say Pete, not beyond sentiments anyway. Tough choice either way but I will say that I often read the comments and people love and admire you and what you do. I don't have to strain to imagine why you do it because your passion is obvious. Some of us aspire to something, anything like what you've accomplished and I understand that you cannot simply trust strangers and risk further issues but I am not kidding, if I could I would fly down and camp on your property with my best friend Clyde who's about 80 pounds of anti theft in a brindle coat and I would so without hesitation. We'd do it just to help and as an excuse to travel. My point is that I believe where there's a will there's usually a way. The results may differ from our vision but there's a real price for everything and you don't necessarily have to pay it alone but unless you have relationships built on trust it's all but impossible. Incentives like wages are seldom enough to inspire a person to dedicate themselves to something as important and potentially dangerous as guarding another man's keep. Even still, I sincerely hope you don't let any of it stop you Pete. You're already doing so many great things but did you realize you're a role model for people in a world where those aspiring to be more godly are portrayed as evil and truly evil touted as virtuous? Some would go so far as to say so. 😊
The way I see it brother, you've got responsibilities beyond what an average person can handle. It's an illustration, a signifier that you may have an even higher calling than you recognized. All that is left is to remember...to remind yourself of who you are and in that moment you will realize that it was never really a question because you define who and what you are in terms that are not negotiable. The path is clear to see, though it presents innumerable and seemingly impossible tasks, it remains nonetheless a path, not an obstacle. Just my perspective, God bless.
I mean every single word and I hope I'm being clear. God bless Pete.

Just as an easy tip for you if you use 30% vinegar or 35% which you can buy online for five bucks a gallon basically use that straight up as it is it’s considered organic and does not change the soil pH but it will destroy weeds on contact the same as any other herbicide and another awesome tip is get a paint roller and use the paint roller to coach the leaves of plants you want that way there is no risk of accidental spraying

30-35% vinegar will kill what you can see above ground but unfortunately the roots live on… 🤨

i'd love a video on the particulars of the legal battles, the permits, the licenses, the gritty paperwork involved. Unless you're legally better off NOT talking about it, but that seems to be one of the biggest questions/concerns people, including myself have when it comes to getting into ag businesses.

Dude the weeds and the grass this time of year… it feels like a losing battle. We mow every week. I gave up pulling weeds anywhere that’s not on the house. I’ve said I’m quitting my garden/property and moving to an apartment! Then I apologize to my plants and remind myself not to try and garden next summer.

I find, with the hard wood cuttings, do much better in the winter in the UK. Herbs, shrubs etc, I have never tried bamboo, I have grown it very successfully from seed.
It sounds like someone with connections has their eye on your property. Why not reach out to Carl Hiassen at the Miami Herald, local government hate big media attention, you have to understand that these institutions are for the most part a feeding troughs for under achievers.
