    I bought six of the 8 footers. What a difference. I go into the garage now just to turn the lights on to see how bright it is. Literally night and day difference. I can finally see.

    I'm like you I'd like a lot of light in my work area. I have a ton of fluorescent light in my garage right now. Where I live we have very cold Winters and half the time most of my lights won't come on for the fact that it's too cold in my garage. So this winter I'm going to use the same LEDs that you are using. I'm tired of having to go out into the garage and waste my heat for an hour just to be able to turn the lights on. You are the second person I have seen using these lights. I am convinced now that this is the way to go.
    I enjoyed your video and look forward to your next one.

    I recently upgraded my garage shop lights. It was one of the best upgrades I ever did. Made a huge difference for not a lot of work or money. And I’m super happy when I go into my garage and all my lights come on and it’s super bright now.
    I used to have 4 t8 fluorescent bulbs to light 425 sq ft. It was too dark and dim.

    Took your recommendation and wow! As you said for yourself I should have done this years ago. People have complained about the mounting brackets but I have no problem with them. The one bummer is the cord with on/off switch can’t be added to so switch has to be about 3 feet from light which is 6 feet from ground

    I installed 16 5100 L bulbs in one section of my shop last week super upgrade now the rest of my shop seems dark I thought my shop was well lit prior to the lights but now WOW! I'll need sunglasses in the shop when I get the other 28 bulbs replaced.

    Yep. I put up twelve of those exact fixtures. The ones I used were 8' long. A few months into use they are still working well.

    I upgraded my 2 car garage shop lights to l.e.d. back in June of this year. I love it and what a huge difference in my woodworking finishes & stains. I bought (4) 4ft LED light fixtures (2 lights per unit) at 5000 lumens each. They are linked together and Wired into the original light fixture in the ceiling on a single switch. It does not interfere with the garage door opener. My lights came from Walmart and Total costs was less than $100.00. CONGRATS on a super job and the baby is getting big.

    I just today installed 5 @ 3000 lumen led’s (4 in garage-1 in attic) in my garage. Purchased pre Thanksgiving at HOME DEPOT $10.86 each. These replaced 3 fluorescent dual light fixtures and have brightened my garage considerably.

    I upped the lumens in my shop recently but my walls are dark which tends to trap light out so I put emergency blankets on the garage door to act as both a radiant heat reflector and light diffuser. Worked well.

  • @dimensionswoodworks

    So i did something similar but i put more outlets in the ceiling. I ended with 8 outlets and just plugged the leds into them. But it also allows me to add a drop for extension cords in several places. Lights make a HUGE difference when working and filming 👍🏻

    • @jamesp739
      @jamesp739 Год назад

      Yep, with outlets in the ceiling, you can add an extension cord reel (or two). Cord reels are great for keeping extension cords off the floor, yet handy when you need them.

  • @rahimlee5413
    @rahimlee5413 4 года назад +2

    I use these in my basement server room. I put 3 on the light socket with an adapter and 3 on the other side to an outlet on the wall. I flip the switch for partial light and then have the second set powered by a smart switch so I just give a voice command they come on. These are good lights. Nice install.

  • @pmdinaz
    @pmdinaz 5 лет назад +3

    just put 8 of these in my garage, i just finished building it and the inspector looked at me like i was crazy because my plans had the outlets in the ceiling instead of the 'can' lights. It's great! couldn't be easier to do. Truly plug and play (in light). Nothing to do with your video, but i chose Barrina as well.

    I had a couple of 4-lamp floros in my shop that were replaced with 4' LEDs, some from Costco. A remarkable difference. Totally agree that more light is better. Didn't bother calculating lumen/ft^2. Simply installed as many fixtures as possible. As I also work on automotive paint, the lights in the center are either a warm or mixed spectrum. Used a cold spectrum on the side lights and the lights above the benches for the machine restorations. Seems like I can see more anomalies in the metal with a cold light vs paint that prefers a warmer spectrum.

    I did this same thing (outlet swap too) for my garage and liked it so much I used two of those fixtures to replace the 4 bulb sunken in setup in my kitchen. Those two are loads brighter than the 4 florescent tubes.

    Clean clean setup!!! I finally got on board and got a few sets in the shop and W🤩W!!!!! 3 car garage and I used (3) 4’ 6500k kits around the perimeter of the garage and (2) 8’ 6500k kits over the 2 car side. I also added one 4’ kit on the garage door for when the door is open and blocks the overhead lighting…Man oh man. It’s an operating room in here. Like you said, way overkill but man I make RUclips content and I can see EVERYTHING clearly lol. Thanks for the upload and info on the heater!🎯🎯

    At 400 total watt consumption, I not want to turn the lights on. I just a cheap SOB.
    I would make at least 2 circuits. 1 centrally located fixture for everyday use. 1-2 circuits for special lighting needs.
    That would work for me. BTW...nice work.

    I used some different stuff that was on sale locally, but lighting is my second favorite shop upgrade so far. And my original lighting was a broken halogen spotlight and an under powered flood light, offset so half the shop had no light at all. Looks great man. Enjoy being able to see!

    We just built our house and I went over the top on the electrical(commercial/industrial electrician by trade). I put a 100a sub panel and plenty of circuits throughout our 1280 sq' attached garage. Lighting wise, I put switched receptacles in the ceiling and ran 5 8' strip LEDs per row(3 row, 15 total) like these. 5000k/7200 lumen/each. I think the I think they inflated the lumen numbers a bit though. I have installed 7000 lumen industrial lights(expensive) on jobs and they are brighter than these. But these are still eat bright and my garage looks like daylight!

    I have 8 of the Barina lights in my garage. I added a wireless hub for my garage door opener and found out that LEDs were confusing my door remotes. There is a fix for the RFI problem that is as expensive as the lights were lol. When the lights are off all the remotes work fine.

    I can't find anything that says Barrina lights are UL/CSA/ETL certified, unlike Hyperikon lights which have the certification info on stickers (seen in pics of their lights). If you ever had a fire and your insurance company found lights without any certification, even if the lights weren't to blame, you'll be very sorry.
    Also, beware of running ANY wire without an FT rating through a ceiling or wall even if it's for something low voltage like a garage door opener or speaker wire. It could act like a wick and your insurance company will look for any excuse to deny a claim.
