Great instruction Max...this will be very useful when planning for new lakes in the upcoming open water season this Winter. Thanks for the quality content!
Hello and thanks for the video. Is there a way to view actual historic maps on the unit? Like over lay onto the contour? I saw a guy with a Lowrance do it and it’s awesome.
Useful for unmapped lakes. Question I have a EchoMAP 93sv it tracks boat to slow on map, over the area I want before it catches up. Is the EchoMAP 106sv faster. My old gen one helix has no problems. If so should how would I network them so they track correctly? Thanks for the videos.
Maybe try updating your 93 I’ve not had that issue. I use a older 93 plus as my mapping unit. The 106 will be faster because of the processor and the faster gps signal.
Should I use 810 on gt56 with downscan if not using splitscreen? Saw your video but you had it on split screen and did not know if it made a difference. Thanks-Willie
new sub, great info. Currently added a couple echomaps for panoptix(ps30) trolling for kings. Main mfd is Lowrance. I feel I can transfer waypoints from HDS to Echomap easily now. Sweeeeeet. Thanks
@@MGMarineTech Looks like it’s free for 5 days but then converts to a paid subscription at $49.95 per month. Otherwise it was a very helpful video. Thanks.
What is the best way to build trolling routes at home and transfer them to my Garmin EchoMap chartplotters to control my Garmin Force trolling motor? In our lake the stripers often hang at 40-60 feet and trolling using my Garmin Force trolling motor with downriggers is the most productive technique. My problem is that I tell my boat driver brother I have lures at 55 and 50 feet and he often hangs up all my gear in 40 feet of water, even with a dedicated map unit and great maps. He also has no concept of how gradually to make turns to avoid creating problems with my JetDiver rods with 100-124 feet of line out. He makes the same mistakes in the same places over and over again and my female partner boat driver wasn’t much better. If I could build some trolling routes at home and transfer them to my GPS units fishing could be a lot more effective and enjoyable for all concerned. I played around with my tablet and Active Captain and could do a fair job with it, but my tablet is WiFi only, not waterproof and usually not on the boat. It seems it would be a pain to create the routes on my phone because of the small screen and the general lack of precision using my fat fingers as pointing devices. I would prefer to build the routes on a computer with a decent size screen and mouse, but Active Captain doesn’t run on Windows. Garmin Express does run on windows, but I don’t know if can do what I need. Can you point me in the right direction?
That is a good question. I’ve not done that yet but it will give me something to look into. Obviously having accurate maps would be key. Let me do some digging
I use Garmin Express to update my network. Can I use the same SD card to upload waypoints from Google Earth and to save screen shots to and for mapping unmapped lakes? I have 3 echomap ultra's 106sv and livescope with lvs32 transducer.
Correct. I was showing how you could upload them to google earth. That’s when converting them is required. To get them straight to a garmin no conversion is needed
@@MGMarineTech Sorry to bug you! Have you noticed that the GPX & PDF coordinates are two different locations? I've contacted MDC and they are looking into this.
How do I get my waypoint icon on my 126 to stay the same when I change it . I mark a waypoint and use a certain icon and color then the next time I mark something it keeps changing back to a different icon kinda like it defaults back to a certain icon ?

I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. Great video!!

Great stuff! Some of the best instruction videos out there!
Thank you !!
this video helped a lot, thanks for sharing the info.
I bet people would pay a small fee if you wrote out a step by step path for this that you could email. I would anyway. Great video
Some good info!
Very good stuff. I am gonna try it
It’s a very handy trick!

Yes it will always operate in the background so I always keep it on a different frequency than my side scan

Nice me too! Where do you fish ? I fish for kings mainly out of st Joe mi
@@MGMarineTech I fish on the south west shore of Lake Ontario, cdn water. Also fish the Niagara bar in spring.
@@captcrow oh man I’m jealous I’ve heard about the king fishing up there.
WAYYYYYY better than here
Yes it's pretty special. We are pretty lucky
Nice vid.
Regarding the KML2GPX conversion tool, am I correct that this costs $49.95 per month or am I looking at the wrong converter tool.
The one I used in the video was free at the time of using it.

Yes you can. Just make sure you put the files in the correct location.
The files on MO Dept of Conservation are now already GPX. Just drag/drop to the file you want them in.
Correct. I was showing how you could upload them to google earth. That’s when converting them is required.

Hmm ive not had that issue. Usually it will stay they same for me. I thought any ways ??
😅 👍🏻👍🏻
Can you just save the zipped Gpx files to sd card and merge files in the Garmin unit?
Yes when you insert the card it will give you the option to merge them or replace
