Earl Slick is so brilliant at singing through his guitar, like Paul Kossoff. He's worth a study, if you want to have a musical personality. Garson is worth a study as he references about a million things in his playing. These musicians helped bowie sound as good as he did, so respect all round. Garson takes over most of the song 'Aladdin Sane', and it's dynamite. You can almost feel bowie's presence here.
David Live, one of the best live rock records ever . Earl's guitar is on fire, loud and proud. Also listen to guitar and sax trading licks on many of the songs, well done.. such a superb group of musicians on that tour. Wish Earl would revisit that style of playing. God, I remember recording that double album to cassette to bring along on a trip to the Jersey shore, we all agreed it was a great effin live record. Cheers!
some of the greatest musicians. 3 of my favorites right there! BUT i have to give Mr Garson credit, some of the best arrangements that i have ever heard. I highly recommend his book also, thank you all for being such a huge part of our lives. your more than just rock n rollers, you are some of the finest artists in music that will ever be. all 3 of you!
I've just watched about 10 interviews in a row all from 2018 and have read a comment that Jonesy's show doesn't exist anymore. Wtf happened to it? How long did it run for. Without exception these are the best interviews I've ever heard/seen with musicians/producers whom I know and some who I don't. I'm an avid reader of all things Rock'n'roll but have learnt more from these interviews than I thought I knew. Priceless. And you really get to know everyone he interviews. Some stories and anecdotes you'll only ever hear here lol. Great stories about Jimi Hendrix to Simple Minds - Todd Rundgren - Steve Earle - English rock - American rock from all decades these interviews should be preserved for all time. Even a young fella who lives up the road - Andrew Stockdale - makes a surprising appearance. Every episode is full of humour, love and legend. Can you imagine Pete Townshend walking in on the Stooges, and members of the Clash and Blur? That's pure Rock'n'roll heaven. Thankyou Mr Jones. Respect.
He had some health issues. I believe he had a stroke or heart attack. Jonesy recovered and is semi retired. I have seen him do a few interviews since but not on a regular basis.
I just can't cheesing over the fact that Earl Slick is on a mother fucking pod cast! I'd love to have him on individual podcasts where he talks about working with Bowie, Lennon, and John Waite...especially Lennon and John Waite. :-)
Thanks Jonesy, for having these guys on your show. Erl Slick, I've tried to emulate many guitarist in my playing. I, however, didn't know till RUclips, you were THE guy on "Stay". I was 13 when I heard that lick/riff. Your style is what I so enjoy to play. Powerful stuff.
Earl Slick kind of sounds like Gilbert Godfrey. I saw him with Bowie on the Let’s Dance tour in Toronto and he leaped around the stage while he soloed. Mick Ronson was in town and sat in on Jean Genie. Excellent show all around.
Garson and Slick are lost in show bizz, space cadets, Jones is honest, a bit thick but a lovable. working class dood. He doesnt buy into their world...All makes for a great interview.
They sound like they're in a submarine... 'We're right at the bottom! Listen... The pumps have stopped (Gasp)! Ok, don't talk now. Try to conserve the oxygen...' 'We're right at the bottom. Tanks full... Right at the bottom!' :0)
I love revisiting this interview - always cracks me up! "My people"! So great!
Earl Slick is one of my favorite guitar slingers. Beautifully sloppy, raw, to the point. Just a good trip from a good guy.
I miss Jonesy's Jukebox SO much! LA Radio needs more of this, and soon!!
Indeed!
I can listen to these guys play and tell their stories all nite !! great show guys ty !

Garson is just insane! Obvious Slick is a monster. This is a real treat!

Earl is such an entertaining guest......Loved seeing him when he was playing with the NY Dolls in 2011 opening for Motley Crue - what a tripppp
Those were the days. Please KLOS, bring Jonesy back!

Actually that's Adrian Belew
@@kevinherd3437 In concert maybe. Several times actually. But on the album? Earl Slick.
Stay, is my favorite earl slick/bowie song!
Wow! Love the ambient track 25:15
I love this show.

Carmine! Huge talent. Would have loved to see that.
Just won 2 tickets to the show this coming Wednesday here in phoenix!;)
The genius of Ray Davies really " Cannot Be Emphasised Enough " !!! From Adrian Browne 1965
Don’t think I’ve ever heard Mike Garson speaking before. Wouldn’t have expected Earl Slick to be such a fan of songs by The Kinks. 👍
I as well, had never him speak a word. He seems cool here.
Jonesy gets the best out of the people he talks to, because he listens, unlike some interviewers who can't shut up,
Epic.
great
Just need Stevie Wonder to pop in with his glasses on...
Jonesy's having a great time jamming with Bowie's band.
Garson and Slick are lost in show bizz, space cadets, Jones is honest, a bit thick but a lovable. working class dood. He doesnt buy into their world...All makes for a great interview.
"What's your secret, play with your knob a lot?" 😂
This is rad, i saw Earl with New York Dolls a few years ago :)
That ambient jam makes me want to direct a movie just so they could make the soundtrack to it.
Jonesy my guy.
Has Steve got a t-shirt with a pic of his Fabio day's?
Looks like it.
Its hilarious that the kid, who stole their equipment at Hammersmith Odeon", is now interviewing them!
Didn't nick any of Slick or Mike's gear...
You Joker , Slicky wasn’t there!
Didn't Earl play on a Lennon album? 🤔
He did. I wish he'd talked about that a bit.

He did on 2. Double Fantasy and Milk & Honey.

Earl Slick is looking for his knob
Paul Shaffer & Ric Ocasek in-studio

They sound like they're in a submarine...
'We're right at the bottom! Listen... The pumps have stopped (Gasp)! Ok, don't talk now. Try to conserve the oxygen...'
'We're right at the bottom. Tanks full... Right at the bottom!' :0)
Have you noticed he has not once asked me on the show?
Romeo Frankenstein I have! Unbelievable!
