Transition to an electric economy is a noble goal. The reality is there is no where near enough generating capacity to support this transition. Wind and solar will not be able to fill the need for reliable energy supply. Battery tech is nowhere close to energy storage requirements at an economic cost. The achievable solution to an electric economy is standardized small to medium size nuclear power plants (including thorium). Wind and solar have their place but are not capable of doing the heavy lifting in the time frame environmentalists demand. Using nuclear as the cornerstone of an electric economy will provide abundant carbon free energy at an affordable cost. Nuclear power has minimal impact because it delivers large amounts of energy in a small space. "Green economy" supporters advocate using less energy as the price of going green. A recent study published by the Lancet concludes that cold kills far more people than heat. The Lancet proposes that plentiful energy can not only protect from both extremes it has the side benefit of raising the overall standard of living. This is in contrast to "green" plans that advocate sharing the misery by having less instead of using our knowledge to elevate everyone to a better life. I will close by noting that nuclear power is by far the safest energy source in existence.
How about a van that is made for the disabled driver. Right now we spend as much converting a van as the van itself. If they were to think about building a van that is accessible from the factory it would be better in every aspect.
I insist on my next car having 360-degree surround-view cameras for parking. Tesla could do it simply by adding one down-looking camera in the front to prevent driving over concrete barriers in parking lots which can rip off front bumpers when backing out.

I don't think you are going to see really widespread adoption until 360 miles is a "normal" range not an extended range option. The other huge problem that needs to be solved is how people without a garage can handle an electric vehicle. Each project is very exciting. The advancements in manufacturing like the Giga castings are cutting edge for any auto manufacture and as far as I know Tesla is the only company daring to go with this new technology.
The vans will be needed by many companies for deliveries and for large families. I always loved European sports cars and the Roadster is sharper than anything out of Europe. The Model Y and Cybertruck, and now even a Cyberquad! Not to mention the robotaxt and the Semi. All these are very exciting. Tesla is looking out for our future in many ways. No other company on earth is even close.
True… what’s more interesting is that car manufacturers mocked Tesla’s success, now most car manufacturers are making electrical vehicles. This technology has been around for decades but the oil industry wants fossil fuel vehicles to continue to exist despite new technology and advancement where oil, gas and harmful gases won’t be needed in our society. Big oil lobbyist don’t want electric cars on the road, but that’s all changing and the future is all electric, longer range, and better technology

Tesla's phenomenal acceleration captures the emotions, but the vast majority of us who drive sanely and would never use that feature, except maybe in an emergency, are more concerned about increased range: similar to 600 miles on one charge.
Except that most people only do between 20 and 50 miles a day so why are you so concerned about having 600 miles range. Whilst range anxiety is real, the reality is that as few people who want to drive to 60 in 2 seconds want to drive 600 miles without recharging.

I wish they'd release a model for the lower-budget market.. Or maybe start doing some form of refurbish/used market.. Until the average person can afford to get an EV, this country won't get off gas..
EV cars are for the rich idiots... Most are paying through the nose for one, example.. a Nissan Leaf will cost you over £500/m for a cheap one new at about 35k. So how much are most Tesla owners paying... A more expensive car.. more expensive parts.. a car that's killed more innocent people in autonomous mode, albeit usually because of misuse. But it shouldn't allow the driver to do that.. you can defeat lane assist easily with 2 water bottles jammed in the steering wheel...simulating driver hand input... FAIL.
How much of the car actually gets recycled?

Lane assist (car warns you and steers you back in the lane)
ABS,
Smart cruise control

All these systems add up to what people presume is just one 'tool' autopilot. What your referring to is probably lane assist . Cars use a combination of radar, lidar and cameras to virtually see the near environment. Colour contrasts etc. Where it's not safe to use the system it shuts off automatically by design. Which is what I presume idiots are not prepared for.. you've read the stories...seeing the virtual world is HARD for cars.. and there most definitely has been deaths because of one of these systems or a combination of these systems failing or doing something weird. My car has a few times wanted to throw the car into the scenery at high speed...

What Tesla needs to do is an Heads Up Display to the Model 3 and Model Y as an option, so that those customers who are not comfortable with a center console display only, would then have the ability to see key metrics, e.g. speed, available battery range, etc. while looking forward through their windshield vs. having to look away from the road to view the center console display. If this was available, I would purchase a Model Y today.
The display is made the way it is because Elon said he simply wants to "delete" parts as FSD comes out and you wont have a steering wheel or pedals for examples.
@@amircohen143 in the mean time hundreds of thousands of Model 3 and Y vehicles with steering wheels and pedals, and oh yeah “drivers” are forced to take their eyes off the road to look at a center console for information on speed, range, etc. That does not meet the “safest vehicle made” standard that Elon aspires too supply.
Have a look at Vinfast, they addressed exactly this feature for their brand new line up
@@amircohen143 A "car" with no driver controls is NOT a "car". It is a transit pod, the passenger carrying component of a public transit system. A "car" is about driving ... hands on the wheel, eyes on the road, carving the corners ... no controls? No thanks.
@@PhillProbst So you’re welcome, and don’t buy a Tesla, because Tesla’s cars will drive themselves, because the car is a robot on wheels, 4 of them, and the same technology used to drive a Tesla car is the same AI focused technology that will be used to operate the Optimus robot.
So just like the car, the Optimus robot will be able to learn just like you and I and all of the other people with functioning brains, can learn from each other, and from their respective environments, the car and the Optimus robot, and everything that Tesla does will use autonomous AI technology. It will not necessarily need you to tell it what to do, as it will automatically be able to go or do things on its own unless, of course, you instructed not to do something or you give it new instructions on what you would like it to do, but unlike you or I, the optimist, robotic, AI driven brain will have total an instant recall, in other words it will never forget anything, and it’s memory will be admissible in a court of law, something I suspect will be a hotly debated subject, as this technology continues to be rolled out to the public.
So imagine if you were to commit a crime, and the Optimus robot that you own knows about it, its memory will be admissible in a court of law, betcha you haven’t thought about that have you?
Yeah that’s how different life is going to be as these products continue to be developed, and improved upon, because no one at this particular moment, that I am aware of has a level 4 or 5 autonomous capable driving car, but if we’re going to get there, and I believe we will, my money is on Tesla to get there before anyone else does.
Very informative. Thanks.
How about a van that is made for the disabled driver. Right now we spend as much converting a van as the van itself. If they were to think about building a van that is accessible from the factory it would be better in every aspect.

I don't think you are going to see really widespread adoption until 360 miles is a "normal" range not an extended range option. The other huge problem that needs to be solved is how people without a garage can handle an electric vehicle. A lot of people in apartments are parking in carports, underground parking structures or even on the street. 5 years ago those 4-5 electric charging ports right next to the handicapped spots at the mall were rarely full.
