These environmental groups seem to have their head up their ass. Nuclear power is the most realistic and practical solution to going net zero in any reasonable time frame. The focus should be on improving the technology and making it more economical and environmentally friendly, not trying to get rid of it.

We have 54 plants making less than 20% of our electricity. Add in increasing numbers of EVs and usage of AI, we need to quintuple that to at least 250 or more plants. More like 300 plants with our growing immigrant population.

*_"Thorium reactors can produce more energy than modern uranium reactors, with one ton of thorium potentially making as much energy as 35 tons of uranium. Thorium fuel can provide about 39% of a reactor's power output and has a burn-up rate of 64 Gigawatt-days per ton (GWd/t), which is about 20 GWd/t higher than uranium reactors."_* New technologies there Poindexter, like small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced nuclear reactors, working in concert with advancing sun capture technology and several other rapidly advancing energy production technologies. The country isn't going solely nuclear; it's meant to argue additional needs like hundreds of thousands of new and valuable human resources, all striving for a better life.

SMRs are the way to go. About time.

Yes, but fusion. Fusion reactions are being studied worldwide, but they are challenging to sustain output for long periods because of the tremendous pressure and temperature needed to join the nuclei together. It's just a matter of time and money before *"they"* crack that egg. Governments and billionaires don't want to waste money updating technology for fission reactors. with Fusion breakthroughs _"just around the corner."_ Well, they are more than happy to spend billions if it comes from taxpayers or stockholders.

@@brianbassett4379 When and if Fusion become a commercial reality. Until then, it is a Farce and pipedream.
