      They wore the same clothes because it made it easier to edit scenes. I have a book on Bonanza explaining the reasoning behind things such as this. If they needed a scene where LittleJoe and Hoss were galloping across the territory on horseback, they could easily add in a old clip. Saved time and money.

    • @heatherkay5924
      @heatherkay5924 Год назад +1

      He was animated enough during the first couple of seasons. He left a job that didn't engage him any more. Most of us have done that. I have seen clips of a guest role he took sometime afterwards on The Virginian, and see all the vitality there that was missing in him during the last season of B. Yes, it was another cowboy, but it wasn't Adam Cartwright, that 'quarter of a character' as he put it. He enjoyed a long career as a freelance actor, despite the grief levelled at him because he dared to choose variety over stardom and money. Good for him. Whether he regretted that decision, or not, only he can truly know.

    The ponderosa Ranch Replica house in lake Tahoe that sold for 38 million isn't where they filmed the original Bonanza episodes. The Ponderosa Ranch house was merely a Ranch house prop on set inside a studio . Sometimes they would show an outside shot of the real replica house in lake Tahoe but use the studio set house for everything else. I visited the Ranch house replica as a tourist in 2002 before they closed it to the public soon after.

    My favorite shows are mainly the comedies in the early seasons. I never take interest in episodes after Adam left. But some good dramatic stuff too. I recently looked at the flashback episode in which Ben meets Hoss' mother. It works very, very well. The best, imo, of the "Ben's Wives" entries. A dynamite episode is The Decision, with pre-Star Trek DeForest Kelley as a doctor condemned to die. And then there's The Crucible with Pernell Roberts and Lee Marvin. Oh, yeah: and then the best history lesson from the series, The Philip Deidesheimer Story; that was excellent. (I don't think they had location shots in that one).

    The history of these movie ranches is almost mythic. The Spahn Ranch story is a shattering heartbreaker. My thoughts did a bankshot to director Roman Polanski and his controversial behavior. You can't exonerate him for the stuff he did in subsequent years, but he had so many horrific traumas repressed in his psyche - from his parents having been murdered in Nazi death camps when he was 9 to the brutal disgusting murder of his beautiful pregnant wife in 1969 as mentioned in the video. Strange indirect bedfellows for Bonanza.
