I'm taking my son to camp quirky camping in our car for the first time. Watching this trying to prove to myself that what I want to build for the car isnt as hard or scary as I think 😂
@@helentinkletoesadvsfromacb Aw that sounds awesome, how old is your son? I'm sure you'll smash it at converting the car, keep the design simple and practical and you'll sail through it 😊
Tip for next build! Put a 20mm plastic runner at the top and a 10mm at the bottom. Cut the door 10mm shorter the it will slot in at the top and then drop into the bottom runner. Means you can fit bottom track before the door. The door can easily be removed if you ever need to repaint it or replace it. Enjoing the build but can't wait for the next adventure
That makes so much sense 😂 I wish I’d thought of that sooner! For now, no one better ruin the doors as they’re pretty much permanently in 😅. We can’t either, this build and the filming has been going on for some time and with the 19 degrees coming end of this week, we just want to run away in to the wilderness ☺️ Hope you’re good anyway, thanks for watching and for the tip once again 🙌🏼
The inside of the van is about 1750mm wide so not really possible to have a sideways van. I believe that’s from cavity to cavity so you could probably get a bit more out of it if you built above the cavaties but it would still be quite short. But depending on your hight it might work 🤗
Looks really good should be lovely when done. Just one question, how are you going to stop things in the garage falling or resting sideways against the internal wall, and blocking the internal garage door from opening ?
Thank you so much 🤗 good point! We have stored a camping table in there so hoping that keeps anything from falling and blocking the door from sliding. Not too bothered if the door gets marked on the inside as it is a garage space after all 🤗
Brilliant idea for storage. First time I've seen something like this. How wide is it from the side of the van to the front of the unit at its widest point?
@Nic Roams (Nic & Sam) no worries, thanks The easiest way to install the runners btw would have been to cut the wood (sliding door) a few mm shorter. That way you could insert the top of the wood (sliding door) and it should have given you enough room to slot it into the bottom runner afterwards and then it would seat itself...that probably made no sense at all but if you look at most bathroom cabinets with sliding doors you'll see what I mean. That way the doors can be removed if access is needed.
Hi 🤗 there is no link to the sliding door bits specifically as it was a complete DIY. But you can get the U shaped plastic things from B&Q and Wickes, Wickes is cheapest 👍🏼
What festivals are you going to this summer? We are heading to Camp Quirky and Vanlife Festival UK, will we see any of you there? 🤗
Bangface 😄😄😄
Camp Quirky 🎉

14:45 modesty blocks? That's a new one on me. That's what I love about this medium, ..you're never too old to learn something new.
Woo, I love a good modesty block, they’re not always the best looking but they do the job 🤗
Fantastic storage unit and I love the colour. You are both incredibly talented.
Thank you Di 🤗🫶🏼
